Chef Stephanie Izard and her team are thrilled to join LA’s vibrant restaurant community and continue our tradition of serving tasty, bold-flavored foods in a fun and lively family-style setting. A few favorites, like goat empanadas and sautéed green beans, will be back on the menu. Stephanie and her team have also crafted new dishes inspired by California produce and local flavors, like carrot-tahini dip with tahini tofu, and curried goat with radishes, pickled vegetables, and masa chips. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of fun cocktails created by our bartenders.

Located in the Arts District at 555 Mateo, Girl & the Goat offers dinner service Monday through Sunday, plus brunch Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads and adventurers!

We're back with another Goats at Play dinner on May 1st! We're bringing the ideas we scribble down in our notebooks to your dinner table for a communal, one-night-only menu experience from Chef Steph and the team. Level up the fun with an optional $40 per person wine pairing, all specially selected to complement the flavors of each course. Pull up a seat for an evening of bold flavors and shared adventure! **Due to the nature of this event, we are not able to provide vegetarian, shellfish-free, gluten-free, or other menu modifications. This was the first visit for my wife & I. The food was exceptional with very interesting taste combinations. We had the goat liver mousse, sautéed green beans, goat curry, & crabby bbq pork belly. Each one was a tasty treat! The desert ice creams with the brownie sundae & sesame cookies & cream were delightfully different. Our server, Freddie, was engaging, attentive, & knowledgable about all the menu items. He made my wife’s birthday dinner as special as she is. THX!

Amazing food! And great service! The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing I had a delicious meal and was able to have a lovely conversation with friends. I would definitely recommend this establishment to everyone.

Ribs and noodles were terrific, nice selection of beers, terrific fritters and beats salad will be back. It was terrific public parking garage real conveniently located two dollars per hour for parking no validations.

The food is flavorful and works well, but there are no nuanced or delicate flavors. Everything is intense and almost too salty. Portions are very large, I would recommend the server not suggest 4-5 items for two people. It’s way too much even with a hearty appetite. Service is friendly and slow. Ambience is hip and energetic, bathrooms and hallways are dirty. Overall it’s an ok place to have dinner after doing something in downtown, not great for a trip just for the restaurant though.

Love Girl & the Goat. I'm taking some stars off because the music really is too loud, which makes it difficult to speak, especially with a larger group, like ours. Food is excellent! PLEASE TURN DOWN THE MUSIC.

PRO: The food, service, and ambiance are all excellent. It was a bit noisy but could still carry on a conversation. We were celebrating birthdays and got complimentary ice cream. THANKS! CON: When the bill arrived, the server pointed out the QR code for payment. When I received the receipt via email the next morning, I was a bit miffed to see a $3 charge posted to pay with the QR code. I never saw a disclosure about this ahead of time.

I loved everything about this place. The building and decor were very cool. The staff were so helpful and accommodating. My friend has a food allergy and the chef and our server were great about making a huge percentage of the dishes available to her with slight modifications to keep her safe. We truly appreciated that because she definitely doesn’t get that treatment at many restaurants. Dinner was delicious and our desserts were beyond our expectations. We loved every dish. A few standouts- the bread, corn, shrimp salad, sea bass, and mango sticky rice.

Delish!! Chef's kiss! Everything we ordered was so yummy and I would highly recommend Girl & the Goat. Beautiful interior, lovely patio. Staff was so kind and went out of their way for a particular food allergy. 5 plates was perfect to share for 3 of us. Will def. be back!

In one word: OUTSTANDING. I was celebrating the weekend before my last week of chemo treatment, and I can't heap enough accolades on our server, Allison. I can't eat spicy food with the chemo, and Allison went above and beyond to talk to the chef and cross-reference the extensive binder of all the ingredients that go into all the complex recipes. She did it in such a caring, thoughtful way - I didn't feel like a burden or an annoyance - and every single item was absolutely delicious! My partner and I are still thinking about the pepita sourdough bread with whipped feta, and the desserts! Don't miss the Mango Sticky Rice dessert! I also absolutely love the Lemon & Gooseberry Pot de Creme, with the sesame cookies & cream ice cream to provide a sweet and savory finish. Outdoor patio area was wonderful - it wasn't as noisy as the inside, and the music was fantastic! Cocktail and wine list were great, too. From top to bottom, a wonderful dining experience. I would recommend Girl & the Goat for anyone with food allergies or restrictions, as they take it seriously.

Food was wonderful. Service was good if a tiny bit inattentive at times. A plus on the oysters, the tuna poke and the goat neck...and the sesame ice cream you MUST try. Overall we liked everything, loved most things, we will return.

A few uppity, but friendly and polite staff. Hard to hear each other at times while ordering. Rich yummy food. Too much mayonnaise or similar in the green beans. Fabulous bread w spread. Tasty beverages. Desserts need to be as unique as the meals.

We were on a Date night with some very good friends And our dinner was the Absolute best experience our waitress was TOP notch very friendly and Her service was something out of the Rule book on how to be the very best at ur Job. And the food was a different Level I can honestly say by far one of the best places I have been too everything was delicious

Eating at Girl and the Goat has become an annual birthday tradition (with some other visits sprinkled in throughout the year). The food here is just incredible. It's so far and away better than so many other restaurants in the same tier. Great service, fantastic ambiance, and excellent food.

Excellent brunch. A wonderful purple Ube Horchata drink made with spiced flor de cana rum, and delicious blueberry sourdough pancakes with an espresso cocoa nib crumble, pickled kumquats, and a hoisin espresso maple syrup. Brian, my waiter, knew who I was even though we were meeting for the first time.

Food was fantastic. Cocktails all looked great and we were very happy with what we got — “Spa Day” was light and refreshing. Good wine & beer selection. We ordered the naan and dips, which were so good and way beyond what we expected, shrimp & crispy greens salad (excellent), green beans, broccoli, butter-steamed halibut, goat curry, and crabby bbq pork belly. The entrees were really standouts. There was a goat neck special I wish we’d tried because it looked amazing. This is a new fave restaurant.

Went here for dinner with a friend. From beginning to end, this was a lovely experience. Just good vibes. All the staff were kind and attentive, especially our server. Dave provided excellent recommendations (knowledgeable about the menu), checked-in often, followed through expeditiously, and had a perfect smile! The food was portioned well and delicious. Shoutout to the chefs! All the dishes I ordered were layered with flavors and textures highly pleasing to the palette. What did I get? Shrimp salad, green beans, goat neck, butter bass, and sesame cookies and cream. I’ll definitely be dining here again.😎
