We had an exceptional meal at GASOLINA cafe last night. The the seafood paella was superb and everything else had a wonderful taste. The only downside was the restaurant being too noisy. It was a peak experience.

We've been coming for paella night since it started. The paella is still delicious but the serving has declined. When we first started coming one would get 3/4 to inch of paella in the pan. It was perfectly crispy, had lovely vegetables and seafood cooked into it as well (usually small shrimp and octopus and calamari stirred into the paella as it cooks and large prawns on the top). The last 2 times we've came (over the course of 2 years) has been disappointing. The paella pans have about 1/2 inch or less of paella in it. The top is moist but it's such a thin serving that the bottom dries out while cooking. The vegetables and seafood stirred in are now mostly placed on top (unless it's peas). In our last seafood paella we received only a few small shrimp and octopus pieces - basically it was only discernible as seafood paella because of the prawns on top. This is one of our favorite restaurants and we used to come regularly for paella night so I'm kind of disappointed.

This was the second time I attended Paella night at Gasolina. The first time was perfect and although my party enjoyed our dinner on 4/19, there were a few disappointments. The flamenco guitarist who created great ambiance in February was not there. Instead recorded rock music did not create the charm we had experienced before. One person in our party is allergic to clams so could not eat the large (for 3) seafood paella. We asked if the three of us could share a small seafood and a small chicken paella instead and were told that was impossible. So two of us shared the large seafood paella while the other had shrimp skewers and and a salad for her main course (at an added charge.) We took the uneaten portion of the paella home. We were very disappointed that there wasn't more flexibility in this situation.
