We love Gandy Dancer. It was graduation weekend so place was packed. The usual wonderful service was dreadfully slow. But we still loved our meal

Nothing is more challenging than trying to celebrate a special birthday during a University graduation weekend! We love The Gandy Dancer, so we did it despite the reservation challenges and everything that comes with it. Our server, "Bill," did a yeoman's job despite the hustle and too many tables. The food was served promptly and was the typical 1st class standards of The Gandy Dancer.

Our server, Laura, was knowledgeable and not in a hurry to flip our table. She was a breath of fresh air. The chef popped out to make certain everything tasted good - which it did. And, even a shout out to the valet guys who were super helpful in receiving my husbands readers — after they had already parked the car! The restaurant is in the old train station, which lends its own interest and ambience, but the staff is the shining star of this organization. Would I go again? You betcha! Treat yourself for a quality meal out!

This was a graduation dinner. The reservation booked 8 months in advance yet we were placed in a corner with little space for our party. The waiter was exhausted and while he was super pleasant one can see cracks in the system with delays in getting drinks. Rushing us through ordering and moving on to the next course. The stuffed salmon was ok but the sauce was way to heavy for the fish and should not be included. The presentation on plate was fair. It was a disappointment since we had such a great experience on a prior outing.

Definitely a fine restaurant to go to for a celebration! Delicious food, our special request were graciously accommodated, and the service was on point. It was a busy night at the restaurant because of graduation at University of Michigan and they all handled it well. The prices were a bit high for our budget, but we knew that before we arrived and saw it as a special occasion worthy of the cost.

It's was dinner for Umich graduation so it was very full and we sat in a tent attached to the restaurant so it was a bit noise. But other times that we've been to this restaurant it was not noisy.

We really enjoyed our meal at the Gandy Dancer. We were a large group and everything was great. They were very accommodating when we asked to move our tables together since a few of us didn't make it. Food was great!

We dined at the Gandy Dancer last Saturday for my daughter’s college graduation! We had a back table next to the railroad tracks, and saw a few trains pass by which is always very cool. The food was excellent and the service by Rodney and his team was exemplary! It was an extra special evening given that I had my college graduation dinner there as well and the Gandy Dancer still offers high quality food and service that provides a truly memorable experience!

We had a wonderful dining experience celebrating my younger son’s graduation from University of Michigan. The restaurant was quite busy on graduation but we were greeted nicely and sat quickly to our table. Our waiter Paul was fantastic and helped with all our questions regarding food and beverages. Paul was attentive but not hovering.; pleasant to chat with and had some humerous lines…he was great. If there was anything negative(and these are small issues). My wife’s menu had food on it and we had no silverware initially. We try to dine a few times a year at the Ga. Sy Dancer. Never had a poor experience there.

Always one of favorite places for seafood. Not only is the building rich in history, beautiful views overlooking the train tracks, it also has one of the best cuisine in the area. We always have incredible service and are never disappointed. Thank you Gandy Dancer for making our latest celebration memorable.

I remembered the Gandy Dancer being a really nice restaurant the last time I ate there many years ago. The food was ok. My husband and son both got prime rib 12 oz and 16 oz. The both said it was good but the 16oz had a huge piece of fat that was the added 4oz. Our waiter was ok, not what I'd expect from an upscale restaurant. We had to ask for small plates for our bread, which one had wet rice on it like it was rinsed but not washed, he only came to check on us once after our meal was delivered. We had to ask for refills on our beverages. For a $225 bill I'd expect a lot more. Wasn't very impressed!

Gandy Dancer NEVER disappoints! This was an incredible experience - everything was perfect for my son's special graduation dinner. Even though they were very busy the service was lovely and never rushed. Do not miss the Chicken Marsala and Prime Rib. The carrot cake was the most wonderful end to a memorable meal. If you are in Ann Arbor do not miss a great dinner at Gandy Dancer.

We’ve been many times previously and wanted to celebrate graduation. Service was poor, the food was sub-par and the ambience on the makeshift porch was horrible. Very bad experience all around.

We dined on a very busy graduation weekend. We were seated on time and our server was very knowledgeable and personable. Service was efficient, but not rushed. The whole operation (service, kitchen, bar, valet) was on point! Our food was excellent. The best meal and atmosphere we experienced in Ann Arbor!

We were there for graduation weekend. I had read previous reviews, and some of them had said that their food was cold and unfortunately, that was the case with ours. Our appetizers were hot. Our drinks weren’t good. Our food is average. Overpriced for what you get. But would be willing to give it another try if it wasn’t graduation because it was so busy there’s only so much they could do.

Great service. Just don’t order the chicken, which was like something you’d get at Big Boy. My companion’s steak was notable, as was the key lime pie.

We were there for a late lunch graduation weekend. After being seated, nobody came to our table for over 15 minutes. We asked another waiter if someone was assigned to our table. He said he'd take our order which he did. Another 10 minutes and another waiter came by to confirm our order and said he'd bring out bread. More time passed, no bread. Asked again. Table next to us gets seated. Waiter comes over and tells us they don't have one of the items we ordered. Brings some of our apps. One app (which was my entree) was the stuffed portobello mushroom. While I couldn't taste any mushroom, it was loaded with olives which I cannot eat and wasn't listed on the menu. Rest of the party's entrees came which they enjoyed. Waiter sent manager over who apologized and said they are redoing the menu to add olives in the description. Women's bathroom ran out of toilet paper. Valet were efficient and friendly.

I understand it’s graduation weekend so the menu is consolidated. The service was good but the food was okay. They didn’t have the vegetarian options for the meal as listed on the menu. The ambiance at this place is always good. Love the covered open glass seating in the back.

Sadly, it doesn’t get much worse. It’s a pretty restaurant but that’s where it ends. No idea how this place gets good reviews. The host could not have been colder and seemed annoyed we were there. Our server was so distracted and could not care less about our experience. He disappeared for 30 minutes at a time, leaving our wine glasses empty. He is in the wrong field and should find other work that doesn’t involve details or dealing with other people. The steaks were ordered medium rare, but came out well done. I’m not sure they used any seasoning of any kind on any of our entrees or appetizers. No idea how this place gets good reviews. With so many restaurants to choose from, this would be on the bottom of any list.

It was our anniversary and they sat us at a lovely table near a window. We had escargot which is not easy to find on a menu these days. Husband had Halibut that was exceptional. I had encrusted snapper that disappointed due to dryness, Our wedge salad was great as always. We will return for the lamb which I had my heart set on but was not available that day.

Food was just ok on this visit and not very hot. Steak was prepared closer to medium well than what we asked for, which was medium. Rice was clearly made earlier in the day. Our server was nice but was more attentive to his larger tables, which made our experience this time just ok.

Love, love, love the Gandy. They go above and beyond to make your experience wonderful! Also, a big shout out to the woman who offered to help me get my 95 year old mother out of her wheelchair and into a restaurant chair. Thank you, that was SO thoughtful!
