A little about us & the culture that has been created… Friedmans is a family run business, which operates locations throughout New York City. Friedmans was named after the famous economist Milton Friedman who popularized the phrase, “there ain’t no such thing as a free lunch”. This phrase has gone on to be used in science, economics, finance, statistics, technology, sports, & now food. However, to put it simply, “to get one thing we like, we usually have to give up another thing we like.” Our mantra is simple, “Eat good food” and this is what we strive to deliver to our guests. For us, it has two meanings. Firstly, eat food that tastes good. Secondly, be proud of the food you serve. We know where our food comes from. We communicate regularly with our farmers and are proud to serve antibiotic free meats & local vegetables. Our mission is for you to love, respect, & enjoy, not only the food you serve, but also the team you work with.

Service was extremely slow. The dan Dan noodles which were touted as most popular and supposed to be spicy- tasted like flavorless cardboard. The margaritas were undrinkable. service was super slow and subpar. It was blamed on a big party at another table. But why should it be our problem? Tuna crispy rice was a 2/10. Fried chicken tasted average.

I frequent the Friedman's on the UWS (72nd st.] and was unaware there was a restaurant in Battery Park. As always, Friedman's never disappoints - the food, service and overall experience was great and I will definitely be dining there again in the future

This place is amazing! I’ve been to other locations and the food is always good but this location is by far the best. They went above and beyond to help us. My son was a bit cranky and I was anxious about it but the restaurant was fine with it. I love the layout here. Very spacious. Honestly just had a great time and the staff is amazing. Had the gluten free chicken and waffles AMAZING

Great variety of food options and delicious too! My friend has a gluten allergy and she was so excited by all the gluten free dishes that were available, especially Chinese food since that is more difficult to find as a gluten free option.

Staff is great. Very prompt and attentive. I had the Nova Benny. Good. My friend had the same and Molten Lava chocolate cake dessert.

Delecious GF options as always. But how does a restaurant run out of Bloody Mary mix at 11:30 on a Sunday? How about sending someone across the street to Whole Foods and buy the ingredients?

We have been to 2 other Friedman’s locations before so we were really surprised that this location had the more extensive East meets West menu. The added bonus was that we happened to be there during happy hour which is at 3-6:30 daily. From the moment we walked in, we had a wonderful hostess who accommodated our request for a booth which she promptly cleaned so she could seat us. She also gave us the happy hour menu after we had been perusing the regular menus for a few minutes. Our server was attentive yet not pushy. We had 2 rolls (spicy tuna roll and the spicy crab avocado crunch roll) and 2 drinks (Sapporo draft and a white house wine) from the happy hour menu; pan fried dumplings, a burger with fries and chocolate lava cake from the regular menu. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and value for money, and will be back to try out other items on the menu.

Massively disappointed. Made a reservation for 9:30- site said it was open til 10, which is why I made the choice to go to THIS location. We showed up a little past, told them our reservation, and when the host was trying to seat us the manager came out and said “no more seating”, which led to a confusing and frustrating conversation where the manager said only take out was being accepted by this point. There was no apology, no concern, even when we explained what the site said. So we just sort of awkwardly left and ate at the Shake Shack next door. I have celiacs disease, and our last trip we tried Friedman’s at a different location and it was so awesome to have a restaurant who has SO many gluten free options. So we made a very conscious choice to eat here after we saw a show, so to be dismissed the way we did, with my health issue and eating restrictions, was honestly really upsetting. Change your reservation times on your site and Google site more specifically if you don’t want business at the time it SAYS you accept business.

I tried the Asian side of the menu today for an early lunch. I had the vegetable pot stickers, lettuce wraps and the hot and sour soup. I shared the pot stickers and they were just ok. The hot and sour soup was excellent which I finished and didn’t have room for the lettuce wraps. I took them home and had for dinner. They were fine and a cut above many who serve them but not as good as PF Changs version. Everything was Gluten Free and I didn’t have any reactions later. I will definitely eat there again bc the staff is very friendly, cares about service. So far my top picks are the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes , well done crispy bacon and the Hot & Sour soup. Guests I was dining with had the BLT which they have had at other locations and loved.

Great waitress, great GF pancakes and extra crispy bacon. The lox and bagel could have been a little better. Tomato 🍅 not edible, lox could have been a little less dry and the bagel average. One bad thing on a 36° day when we had a reservation at 9am and waited outside until they had done the set ups for the day. We were finally let in around 9:15.

The music was much too loud. Unable to converse with my companion at my table! Left as soon as I could to avoid damage to my ears.

Went there for my girlfriend's birthday. Got the chicken and waffles and the first piece of chicken was great. The second piece of chicken was so pink sadly... I appreciated the majority of our food being out so quick but I would have waited for my foo to be completed properly. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive and I would still recommend the place, just would have gotten something different for next time.

Great spot in the financial district. I love that they have a tradition American menu and an Asian menu. Our table ordered some of both and everything was delicious.

Everything was delicious! So thankful for SO MANY gluten-free options!!! it got a pretty busy toward the end of our meal so our server was slammed but overall a wonderful experience!

Tasty food. Attend all different wishes. Food is really good. One of my favorites in downtown for sure. Service is outstanding, very unique and surprising. All staff are very gentle and warm. I love this place. They win a very loyal customer.

Battery Park location made the choice ideal as I had a business lunch and I also needed to be able to park my car nearby. Food choices were eclectic yet delicious; service was outstanding and the location is ideal
