At the Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, Fresco at the Gardens serves artisanal breakfast and lunch to match its beautiful surroundings. For breakfast, which can be enjoyed anytime Fresco at the Gardens is open, savory options like the biscuits and gravy made with challah rolls topped with organic pork sausage, chorizo and herbs and the whimsical green eggs and ham with homemade pesto sauce and local asiago cheese, are irresistible. Sweet breakfast choices include the healthy start waffles with Fresco granola and topped with vanilla Greek yogurt and berries and the rock candy French toast, rolled in cinnamon rock sugar, both of which are ideal with a fresh-pressed strawberry orange juice.

Popular lunch entrees at Fresco at the Gardens include the Salmon Oscar, a crab stuffed salmon served over cauilflower quinoa rice with grilled asparagus and hollandaise sauce.

We had a group of six, celebrating an 85th birthday, and we couldn’t be more happy with our choice of Fresco for the celebration. Service was fantastic, cocktails were excellent (in the top three of bloody marys in my life), and the food was everything we’d hoped it would be. Delicious items from brunch and lunch menu…the Benedicts were unique and impressive, as was the chorizo hash. We highly recommend, and will be returning soon.

WE WERE SEATED BY THE WNDOW. All the garden facing windows had AC vents had their fans on all the time and full blast of 55F. We were freezing, and on complaining to our waitress, she agreed that it was very uncomfortably cold but they could alter the settings nor change our table to a non malfunctioning AC area!!!!!!!!!!??????????? Totally spoilt our eating experience and created a lot discomfort. Please convey this message to their management and please tell them that I need an action response from the Restaurant’s Management. Never again! This was the worst meal I’ve had in years. The sausage, bacon and eggs were cold to room temperature. I expressed this to the waitress and she offered to remove $5 off an $80 bill. The only reason I didn’t walk away was because it was my wife’s birthday and the plan was to eat and enjoy the Gardens there, so I didn’t want to start her special day off in a completely negative way.

I have always loved going to Anderson Gardens, Fresco is a great addition. Gorgeous views and great food! And good drinks! I cannot wait to take all my friends

Beautiful setting and amazing food. What more could you want? We chose to sit outside on the patio, which overlooks the Japanese garden. It's an experience from beginning to end. Their updated menu choices are top-notch.

Waiter was very friendly and helpful. Atmostohere was nice. However, the value for the price changes was astronomically out of sync. While it was all you can eat I suppose, the caliber and quality of the food was no where near the $50 per person price tag. It was not bad or unappealing by any means. But a price of $50 a head to not even include a beverage beyond a glass of water is absurd. You could argue the price is to accommodate the upkeep of the beautiful gardens, however access to the gardens is also not included in the meal price. Over all, decent food, great service, not worth it. Just pick up lunch and buy a ticket to the garden separately.

The food was very good. The only perplexing thing was one would expect that if a restaurant opened for breakfast at 8am, you wouldn't need to wait for a cup of coffee (with a 8:15 reservation) because it was still brewing.

The wonderful view of the Japanese Gardens was only eclipsed by the fabulous food. Three of us had the veggie frittata. Our entire party was pleased with the taste, presentation and temperature of the foods. The beverages were appreciated, too. One member of our group didn’t see hot chocolate on the menu, but when he asked for it, they supplied a large, luscious looking version.
