Easily made a reservation, was eager to have dinner here on father's day as I've been here in the past and always had good food, but this time I wasn't even aware that they serve gluten free steak au poivre - the steak, the sauce and the fries were gluten free and I had no adverse reaction to it, plus it was really good too. A pleasant surprise and now French Roast will be a top option for me to return for good gluten free bistro food.

Great outdoor space , despite the scaffolding that seems to encompass NYC lately. Delicious dinner, the steak special and pork chop were top notch. The staff is always friendly and attentive. A must go to if you are on the UWS.

I don't go anywhere else for grilled Yellow Fin Tuna. It's the best on UWS. Service is always impeccable. Our go to place for dining out

Hate to complain, but my the watermelon in my Watermelon Salad was anemic! Such a pale pink (almost white) and had no flavor. My son's duck was tasty, he said. And he loved his brownie a la mode.

Been here several times but last night’s coq au vin was not the same as I expected. The duck confit was delicious.

great food choices and wonderful flavors, drinks creative, too. Next time, I'd sit in the middle of the restaurant to catch the great vibe rather than in the "shack" off the sidewalk which was too cloistered (but would be great for a quiet conversation).
