What a wonderful way to spend a spring evening in NYC! The Coq au Vin and kale salad with salmon were delicious and our waiter was great. We live in the neighborhood and need to get there more often!

At noon, OpenTable reservations slots were available starting at 3:30 in the afternoon. Fortunately, I checked again at 1:30 and slots had opened up starting at 2 o’clock. We made a reservation for 230 and when we arrive there must’ve been at least eight tables available inside and the same number available outside. The service was friendly and attentive, and the brunch was tasty: three eggs over easy with delicious bacon and a very nice frisée salad.

Robb, Thank you for taking the time to review French Roast. Like all restaurants we do not give all of our tables to opentable as we also use Resy and a portion of the tables go to them and we save a portion for walk in guests also. We also space reservations to assure we can handle the full restaurant and assure guests receive the service they deserve. And in weather like yesterdays guests cancel reservations on the last minute that were held up until moments before. I hope that makes things a little clearer.

I give French Roast five stars.. An excellent dining experience. The minute I walked through the doors. A friendly staff to greet you. I had a 2 delicious entrees Short ribs of beef and kale salad. I dined on chocolate profiteroles in vanilla gelato as an ending. So delicious! French Roast is a true gem on the upper west side .I shall return

Love this restaurant! Our favorite dishes: coq au vin, salmon, crème brûlée, nice outdoor seating with heat lamps. Atmospheric indoor seating, very comfortable and friendly.

Eating outside is the way to go here. The food is excellent, as is the service. The noise inside, however, is quite loud during busy times. I will return with a friend, it if there are more than two of us, the risk of ending up at a table inside that is not a table for two along the windows, is too great. The reason I have come with friends is to enjoy their company, which is hard when the restaurant is crowded and the noise level is so high. This time we were able to eat outside, which was delightful. No one rushed us out, either.

Olderfoody thank you for taking the time to review French Roast. The noise level is understandable you can always requests outdoors ( weather permitting) when you make your reservation. Of course on brunches we must be honest and say inside and outside will always be " bustling"
