The original 1840s sandstone walls of the building Frank Mac’s now occupies a 120-person capacity bar which flows from outdoor seating on George Street, across two levels and into a back courtyard. Whereas the downstairs space feels cosy and intimate, dotted with vintage leather banquettes, dark jade and light orange velvet armchairs, low tables and a fireplace, the ground level you’ll walk into off George Street will reflect the energy of the bartenders working behind the almost five-metre-long oak bar. A handful of bar stools provide the perfect vantage point to take in the cocktail mixology while the dark velvet curtains, worn leather banquette seats and cosy fireplace of the ‘Snug’ provides groups of up to eight with a private space to retreat and relax.

First time getting to dine at cupan cafe today, getting to bring my mam and dad who are over from Ireland on holidays. We all throughly enjoyed the food we got! The toasties were 10/10 aswell as the open prawn sandwich. The staff were more then helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Lovely setting and will most definitely be back to try out the scones next time! Look forward to my next visit!

Came here on Sunday morning, such a lovely little cafe! The toasties and open prawn sandwich was delicious! Staff is super friendly and quick service aswell!

Had such a lovely lunch here, we were accommodated for a group of 8 and also a pram. The food is delicious and the staff were really friendly. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the rocks!

Hi there, I just wanted to give my feedback on a recent booking we had at cupain caife on Sunday 7th April. We arrived at 12.30pm we had a booking for 3x guests we were sat at a two person table with very little room for our order drink food etc. We ordered food and ordered a cheese board and a round of scones for 3 people. When the food arrived there was not enough space for drinks and food at said table. We also were missing the scones that we ordered and were told that they would be brought out to us as soon as we finished the cheese board. We were never served the scones in the end they were completely forgotten about .The Bread on the platter was also stale and the cheese was off. The board on which the cheese was served also was not clean and we also were not provided with the correct cutlery for the platter. Overall extremely disappointed with the service and food quality here. We were really looking forward to supporting Irish a business however the overall experience was not up to our expectations.

Had a booking for 11 people for Cupan Caife and wasn’t too impressed with the service or the fact that there wasn’t half of the food on the menu left knowing that there was a large booking. The coffees took over 30 minutes to get and hour and a half for toasties. The had forgotten two toasties so had a longer wait again. Felt ignored by staff as they didn’t acknowledge the fact they had forgotten the 2 toasties. On the way out to pay the waiter didn’t seem impressed that we wanted to pay separately as he commented “it would take a long time”.

Such a lovely little Irish Cafe, the Guinness Bread & Wheaten Bread were absolutely delicious! Perfect for taking family over for a visit!

Super friendly wait staff, (Emma) Food is good and varied We ate outside at the front under plenty of shade in the afternoon. Lovely to have live music to make a whole experience that little bit more special

What an unexpected gem! Bottomless brunch was a tonne of fun, great food, the staff are absolutely phenomenal! Sensational venue with a great vibe. Can’t wait to go back!

We were placed downstairs due to the rain where it was incredibly dark, the music was really quiet and the service was non existent. I had to follow up with my drinks order twice as it took over 15 mins to make G&Ts! There was a repulsive smell coming from the kitchen too so we all moved upstairs in the rain to avoid discomfort. Killed the mood and vibe. We stayed for one drink and left.

Went here with a large group, we were seated downstairs in a really fancy ambient room, the service and drinks were fantastic, although rather expensive. If you are willing to splurge, this is the place to go for a fancy night out

If you are looking for a bottomless brunch that very much has a firm bottom look no further. Looking around we wondered why we’re were the only people having this option and it quickly became apparent. Refused to serve us drinks at more than one very 15-20 mins (despite the fact that the mimosa was almost entirely orange juice) and food took a long time to come out. When it did, the disappointment continued. The salami was oily and weirdly chewy, some blueberries had mould on them and in general, it felt like a charcuterie board I could have made myself for 10 bucks from Aldi. It was a total bust of a bottomless brunch and it became obvious why no one else was doing this. Myself and the other four I was with left with a vow that we would never set foot in Frank Mac’s again. An utter waste of money and a venue I encourage you to avoid at all costs.

Service was excellent as well as the food and drinks. One thing to know is that it’s no longer a gin bar which was the reason we went. A bit disappointed but the service made up for it.

Great value for money! I celebrate birthday at Frank Macs and me and all my friends had a good time with everything offered. I will recommend this place to other friends and will came back for sure.

Booked for a drink, had to wait for our table. Very noisey, not the place for conversation on a Saturday night. Expected big lounges as per website photos. We were put in a small dark booth. Disappointing.

The booking I made was not honoured and we were turned away at the door after they made us line up with everyone else who didn’t even book. The manager was not polite when doing this and he didn’t know they were taking bookings and walked off. I was super excited to visit as I’m a big gin fan, but now I won’t be going back.

Booked for 5pm but had to phone at 5:15 as it still wasn’t open, were told the opening time had been pushed back but we hadn’t been informed, however after we phoned they opened and put seats outside for us, a few cocktails we couldn’t order as they didn’t have everything ready yet but staff were friendly and we stayed for one drink before going elsewhere. We didn’t have food but had to rate it to allow me to proceed so please disregard the food rating :)

Waited for half an hour for a drink when we got I asked them could I pay at the counter instead the guy said no table service only also the soda water was flat asked for a refresher that was flat also overall would not be rushing back there

It was a good meeting place-not sure it would lend itself to a all night type of place but the staff were friendly and prossional and the drinks were cool.

Great drinks list, yummy and generous food portions (though a short menu). Helpful and friendly staff. The live music on Friday night just added to the atmosphere - will definitely be recommending to anyone who will listen!

What an awesome place. Made a reservation and had a great lounge area downstairs. Candles, sandstone, book case, comfy lounge..such a great vibe Service was attentive, friendly and efficient. Generous and delicious cheese platter , My first visit here and loved it. Highly recommend
