Forty Pearl is a sensory Pure Michigan experience in the heart of Downtown Grand Rapids. Our mission is to showcase Michigan wines and small-batch wineries by pairing them with adventurous bites and sourcing seasonal ingredients locally. We are a collective of Michigan-based winemakers, chefs, storytellers, and characters.

Originally opened by Ed and Robert Brengman as a tasting room to showcase their award-winning wines and bring a taste of Traverse City to Grand Rapids, Forty Pearl has grown to be a neighborhood gem in Grand Rapids.

We’d put Michigan up with the best of ‘em for producing some of the finest wine, cocktails, and food and we strive to showcase this in every glass and plate served. Our restaurant is best suited for adults.

The food we had was good. The girls I was with had chicken sandwiches and I had the scallops which were too salty, but nicely presented. The menu is quite small. We asked for bread because they gave us bread plates. What we got was a few toasted round croutons. Service was fine.

We always enjoyed eating at Forty Pearl - was a go-to for special fun occasions. So we had our son's graduation dinner there on May 4. The service was great, fun ambience, the wines and cocktails really nice. All was good except the food, between the six of us we shared a couple servings of the crispy brussel sprouts and the white fish dip. The brussel sprouts were crispy, but no flavor what-so-ever - these used to be brussels you dreamed about eating, lightly drizzled with a hot honey. These were disappointing - dry and flavorless, no honey. The white fish dip was yummy. Our party ordered the ribeye, scallops, falafel sandwich, and hot chicken sandwich. The scallops were perfect - tender and flavorful. The falafel was dry and salty, the hot chicken sandwich was good - nothing special. The ribeye - All I can say is thank goodness for the chimichurri - that saved the day. Three of us ordered the ribeye, all cooked medium. Only one came out medium, the rest were almost well - the meat was chewy with lots of inedible areas of tendon and gristle. Unfortunately, this place will not be on our list in the future.

Had the bluegill and seafood pasta and both were very good! Truffle fries were a tasty treat too! Service was quick and accurate. Look forward to dining here again.
