Drawing inspiration from the region’s history and natural surroundings, the 156-seat freestanding restaurant reflects elemental themes of wood, water, iron, and fire, reminiscent of the carriage houses and blacksmith shops that once dotted the landscape. The centerpiece of Forge & Vine is an eight-foot wood fired grill and open kitchen with counter seating where guests can enjoy dinner while interacting with the chef. Welcoming residents as well as visitors to the area, Forge & Vine offers a strong sense of place with a design sensibility that brings in the outside with floor to ceiling windows offering breathtaking pastoral views of Gibbett Hill. The restaurant boasts spacious and casual bar with service inside and out and features classic and comfortable cuisine sourced from the best produce, seafood, and meats that New England offers.

    We have visited your restaurant quite a few times and have always felt the service and food quality were excellent. The service last night was sub par (not attentive and took far too long to get drinks or re-order drinks), although we felt the server was likely new and/or inexperienced so we honestly (although a bit annoyed) were willing to let it go -- UNTIL it came time to pay our bill. We were 2 couples and wanted to split the bill. When she returned to our table with the bill split, I received a notification on my phone from my AMEX showing that the entire bill had been charged to my card IN ADDITION to her wanting me to sign off on an ADDITIONAL charge for half the bill, which I obviously was not going to do. After approximately 20 minutes of waiting, the server never returned to our table for us to review the matter with her so we proceeded to the hostess stand. After explaining the situation to the hostess, she proceeded to leave her station and dial someone on the phone. Suddenly 2 "mangers" appeared throwing their business cards at me and letting me know that they had mistakenly charged my card for the full amount and that it would fall off in a few days but that I needed to sign off on the ADDITIONAL charge of half the bill as well. I stated that I was fine in signing off on the additional charge; however, I need to have some form of paper verification that the other FULL BILL CHARGE had been reversed and that their business card would not suffice. After a rather unpleasant conversation and the "2 managers" stating that providing me a receipt of the charge reversal was not possible, the one manager stated "we're done here." It honestly was shocking. How can a supposed manager - let alone 2 of them - think that it is legal to charge someone's card without their permission and NOT provide a receipt?! Needless to say, despite the excellence of the chef, we will NEVER return to the restaurant and everyone we have recommended it to will be notified accordingly.

    Susanna was our server and she was so personable and accommodating. I happen to be a person who needs to be gluten-free due to an allergy and she was extremely helpful and careful.. It was my sister‘s. Birthday and it was a lovely celebration. I was treating everyone to the dinne, When I got the bill, I quietly mentioned to Susanna that I was legally blind and had difficulty seeing and I wanted to just review my calculation with her so I could be sure that I had added everything up correctly. She handled that with Grace and in a very confidential private manner that made me feel very comfortable and relieved.

    Both my friend enjoyed our fabulous dinner and appetizer, and service was impeccable. Can't wait to dine there again!

    NY strip was unremarkable, a tad over cooked and tough. Mashed potatoes not hot. Husband said his salmon too was nothing special. A lot of fussy options on the menu, disappointed they could not get a steak right, considering the $48 price. Drinks and salads very good! Friend’s Tiramisu looked Devine, he enjoyed it.
