Had a lovely anniversary meal at F&C. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was very tasty and the little extra for our anniversary made our night special. Thank you so much.

Cosy basement, lovely greeting. I had the ox cheek which was melt in the mouth. Service was friendly and relaxed. Loved it.

The complete dinner was really outstanding and I a would like to recommend Forage & Chatter. The only point of criticism is that a stated intolerance was not taken into account.

Do not waste your money. This restaurant sucks. Descriptions of Starters & Entrees are overrated.

Super dinner, excellent service, nice surroundings. Because it was for a birthday, we were given little meringues and dessert wine on the house - a lovely touch.

I recently celebrated another birthday at Forage and Chatter in Edinburgh, and it was truly an exceptional evening. From the delightful Beef Tartare appetizer to the perfectly crafted Double Buffalo Trace drinks, every moment was a culinary delight. The main courses of Peterhead Cod and Lamb Rump were cooked to absolute perfection, showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail. Mathew, our server, went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of the birthday celebration was handled with care and thoughtfulness. His attentive service added an extra layer of warmth to the experience. The after-dinner drinks were a fitting end to a wonderful meal, and the recommendation for a 'Speak Easy' for our next stop was a delightful touch. Thank you to the team at Forage and Chatter for creating such a memorable evening. The combination of exquisite food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere truly made this birthday celebration one to remember. I look forward to returning for more exceptional dining experiences in the future.

Delightful basement space which seems tiny on entry but opens up further to more spaces. Lovely relaxed vibe, friendly staff and great food. The cod is probably one of the best fish dishes I’ve eaten in a long time. Would definitely go back

We loved our lunch at Forage & Chatter before heading down to Murrayfield. The food was local, fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxed and charming. Highly recommend - a hidden gem!

We enjoyed all the dishes we had here. They were clearly created with a lot of care, skill and attention to the individual ingredients, making for a delicious experience. Very friendly and helpful too!

Chose this restauraunt as was in a perfect spot in the centre of Edinburgh for a birthday celebration with family when we were visiting for the rugby. It has a great ambience and the staff were lovely. Food was excellent and we had a very relaxing meal. The birthday macaroons were a perfect ending. Will definitely visit again when in Edinburgh

Everything from the first greeting to the last dish was outstanding. Our food was not only carefully and expertly made but really interestingly thought out, with fun flavour combos and unique fresh ingredients! My partner and I had a lovely time and we look forward to come back for next season and see what their Spring menu is all about. :) I am sensitive to noise and although this wasn't a loud space by any means, I would have appreciated the music to be turned down a tad to encourage people to be quieter.

Outstanding food, some of the most delicious I've had in the city. Great service in a beautiful venue. My only slight complaint is that the music was a little sad and slow and the atmosphere felt a little brought down. Only a small gripe in an otherwise flawless experience.

I’ll start with the service and setting, impeccable. The whole atmosphere of the settings as well as how welcoming the staff were is fantastic. The selection of wines is really good, the food however was simply incredible. Its by far the best place myself and my partner have ever eaten. The overall bill for 2 with a bottle of wine and 3 course meal was if anything too cheap given the quality of service and food ! The beef tartate was incredible as was the beef rump and pork loin. We’d especially like to thank the restaurant for the birthday macaroons and presentation ! Such a thoughtful touch. We will definitely visit again when in town !

Matthew upfront and Cameron in the kitchen make a strong team that keeps this Edinburgh institution a culinary comforting favourite. Needs to bring back that dough ball bread course though!

Brilliantly accommodating as we were super early. Lovely menu with the most beautiful presentation. Everything we tasted was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant next time you’re in Edinburgh.

The service was absolutely top notch, ambience lovely and food absolutely wonderful. We had the duck and steak tartare starters. My husband said it was the best steak tartare he’d ever tasted and the duck was also delicious. I had the most yummy umami-flavoured mushroom pasta and husband had the rump steak. Only negative comment about the whole night - the steak portion was very small given the price. But other than that a wonderful night. And thanks so much for the cava when we arrived and our table wasn’t quite ready!!

Locale accogliente, casual e con una bella atmosfera. La cucina è interessante e, soprattutto rispetto allo standard UK, molto equilibrata e rispettosa delle ottime materie prime utilizzate. Haddock affumicata, Beefroot, Tagliatelle e Beef, tutto saporito e curato, in particolare haddock e la beef rump.

Stunning experience from start to finish! Slightly hidden off the busy main streets of Edinburgh, this little hidden gem was full of surprises on our first visit! Very friendly and welcoming staff showed us our table through the cosy basement setting. The small entrance opened up to a larger area and we were sat on what would have been the original basement garden area. The food was superb, steak with brussel sprouts and mash have never tasted to good, all washed down with a lovely glass of Italian red. We will definitely be back, and look forward to tasting the next seasonal produce! A must visit if you are in Edinburgh!
