Fonda Nashville is a neighborhood restaurant serving authentic, elevated Mexican fare driven by
acclaimed Chef and Partner Roberto Santibañez. With the original concept opening in Brooklyn, New
York fifteen years ago, Santibañez, along with local restaurateurs, bring a fresh take on Fonda to the
idyllic 12 South neighborhood at 2316 12th Ave. Santibañez, an award-winning cookbook author,
restaurateur and steward of Mexican cuisine, opened his Nashville “comida” this May 2024.

The menu distinguishes itself with a focus on small, shareable
contemporary plates. These dishes will range from Queso Fundido and Ensalada de Nopales to a
Mexican take on Burrata En Salsa Verde and a desirable Wagyu Con Mole de Avellanas. For the
table, you can order build-your-own taco boards or enchiladas baked homestyle.

Given that there's multiple taco restaurants in 12 South I might enjoy this one more than the rest. The food was great and had a nice kick to all of it. The items I had were the fish tacos which I'd order again. You get two decent sizes. The guac was fabulous and fresh- medium spice. And i order pork skins with it. The Fonda frozen drink was strong but really good. Even one got me buzzed but maybe bc I didn't have anything to eat for about 4 hours prior. The octopus dish was good but I wasn't a fan of the mashed beans- octopus was good by itself and theres a kick to the dish (I'm not a bean person but wanted to try it). The watermelon salad was refreshing. The crab empanadas were bomb af! I'd go back just for that! Although the reservation was far out, it was a great option for a first date. Also, it's next door to Jeni's. I don't believe there was outdoor seating. There might have been garage doors but don't quote me. It wasn't open while I was there. Def will be back.

For the hype this place is getting, I left disappointed. Service was very rushed. Total time in was 40 minutes. After sitting down less than 2 minutes the server was asking what we wanted to order before we could even evaluate the menu. Food was rushed to the table and nothing was explained or recommended. Price point is all over the place.

We’ve been here four times since this place opened in our neighborhood and it’s been incredible every time! They’re very baby-friendly (always find space for our 3 month old), the food is excellent, service is on point, and the pomegranate marg is our favorite in town :)

Phenomenal food. We had the guacamole and taquitos to start, both were delicious. If you like mezcal, the naked bandido is a must! Ask to sit in Sterling’s section, he was great. We are planning to return soon.

The service is top notch. Food is good but a little over salted. Portions have been drastically reduced in size since the opening. Most snacks are way too small for the price.

So jazzed there is a spot in Nashville now. We used to go to the East Village spot for brunch all the time in NYC. The food here was better than I remembered. Excited to come back.

Tortillas for tacos were cold. Carne asada was luke warm but cooked well done, so I assume the steak was pre made. The door to the restaurant was open, it was a nice day but we had to deal with flies buzzing around our food.the pico was very good.
