Small plates, shareable, great drinks and wait staff was awesome. Great spot for date night, or just to grab a drink!

We went for a Mother’s Day with my wife and two grown children. We were seated right away and the place is attractively appointed. It took a while to be greeted and for drink orders to be taken. I ordered a Bloody Mary which was no more than tomato juice with a slice of bacon and two wilted celery sticks. Upon ordering we were told that they were out of Benedict which was probably a blessing given how poorly the other meals were prepared. We ordered one of the Fireproof Breakfast, two steak and eggs and a shrimp & grits. After over an hour one of the steak & eggs was brought to the table, but the egg preparation was wrong and the steak was over cooked. Because no other dish was ready we sent it back to be corrected. Then the Shrimp & Grits was presented with another order of the Steak & Eggs. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery, the grits were gelatinous, flavorless and cold. There was a sauce that was off putting in its texture and color as well as taste. In short it was disgusting. The steak and eggs were cold and the steak was overcooked. The potatoes were the only bright spot. Several minutes later the order of Steak & Eggs was brought back, this time with the correct egg preparation but the steak was still over cooked and cold. Some time later the Firestone Breakfast was finally brought to the table. This was the dish for the mother and it was served last! The eggs were burnt and cold and the sausage was flavorless. The meal was a tremendous disappointment especially since this was Mother’s Day. We complained and the meal was compensated so we gave a generous tip based on the full value despite the service being mediocre. Perhaps she was embarrassed and avoided our table rather than give us updates. It was clear this place was overwhelmed even though it didn’t seem overly crowded. Worst experience I had had made worse because it was to honor my wife as the mother of my children.

In short, we were not prepared, and for that, I am truly sorry. We underestimated the volume that we could do for a busy Mother’s Day, and we messed up. We have long been a lunch/dinner tapas restaurant, and trying to do a special brunch in the midst of these changes was a mistake on our part. I will reach out to you shortly to speak directly with you, and I will make it my goal to give you the best visit possible if you will join us again. We will use this situation to learn and improve, making sure it never happens again.

We had a reservation on Mothers Day for brunch. There were 7 of us total. 5 members of our party traveled from over an hour away to meet us for the occasion. Service was extremely slow and we had to go to the bar area to ask for refills on our drinks. The server did not check on us, despite the incredibly long wait. Several menu items were unavailable on the brunch menu because they had run out. We waited for over an hour for our meals ,and they were served at different times with some of us waiting over 20 minutes after the first meals were brought to the table. All the eggs that were ordered over easy to ur table were overcooked and overdone to the point where the egg yolks were solid. I ordered the skirt steak medium and it was well done,dry and chewy. The potatoes were supposed to come with the steak, and when they didn’t arrive with the meal we asked where they were and she said they ran out. I ordered grits instead, and they were an awful mushy and bland consistency. The waffles were as hard as a rock. I had eaten brunch here a few months prior and the eggs were overcooked on that occasion as well and had to be sent back 3 times. I am not the type to complain at restaurants or send back food unless it’s really bad. I felt awful that my parents, sisters and niece drove so far to meet with us to have a nice meal on Mother’s Day and we all had such a disappointing experience. We won’t ever be going back again.

The kitchen was not prepared for Mother's Day. It took over an hour and a half for all our food to come. We had 5 people in our party for which 1 meal came 1/2 hour before others. The team looked lost and had no direction. Other guests who came 30-40 after us received their food before us. We will not be back again. When this place first opened up it had an energy and attention to high-quality food and service. It is disappointing where it is today.

We made many mistakes, which we are learning from and will continue to improve upon. Unfortunately a bad experience on Mother’s Day. The food came out in waves. The first 3 meals came out together. 15 minutes later one more meal was served. Another 5 minutes after that the next meal was brought out and finally 30 minutes after the first plates were served, the last person’s meal came out and was sent back since it was not cooked as requested. The waitress avoided our table because she knew we were not happy and would only say the kitchen was a complete cluster. I had high hopes for Mother’s Day since we had good experiences in the past, but this will be the last time we go there.

Generally, have enjoyed Fireproof in the past. Our experience this visit was not positive. We had several plates and the execution from the kitchen was not good. Calamari, Wagyu sliders, and the Mexican Corn Elote were all overcooked. The Wagyu dumplings tasted fine, but the dumplings and the corn elote both came out cold. The potatoes were the only dish that our group believed was done with the right temperature and taste. Overall very disappointing and not likely to return.

Have always loved this restaurant and got worried when we heard it had been sold and under new ownership. Do not worry, the food is just as good if not better and there are even new menu items.
