Value for Happy Hour was amazing! The food was hit or miss depending on what you get. The Collard green salad was amazing. Gumbo was decent. Def try it out and see what you like!!

If you love authentic New Orleans Cuisine with an East Coast flare, File Gumbo Bar is a must visit!! Be sure to make a reservation and be a few minutes early, not a minute late, to ensure you enjoy the full experience. The service was unmatched. I was graciously greeted by the lovely, courteous and beautiful Business Manager. Then seated by an equally gracious and pleasant host. The wait staff was very knowledgeable and courteous, recommending the absolutely perfect cocktail; the Hurricane!! The fried okra and wings were excellent starters followed by the Gumbo with all the protein additions (chicken, andouille sausage, crab, and shrimp) was divine, my guest enjoyed her Jambalaya, and we topped our meal off with the delectable and decadent chocolate praline cake with a scoop vanilla ice cream. Make sure you visit File Gumbo Bar, and thank me later!!!

Food and service was great, and the prices were reasonable! The live jazz is a nice touch and makes you feel like you’re in the French quarter while eating. Truly, a hidden gem in that area.

Went for the Jazz brunch & it was great! The band trio was a treat, not too loud & they sounded on point. The food was reallllly good!! I had the chicken & beignets & it was delicious. Grits & the omelet was delicious as well! Will be back for the gumbo

Food was nothing short of exceptional. The star of the show surprisingly was not the gumbo, but I would come back for the grilled oysters and crawfish mac and cheese any day of the week. The french quarter drink was amazingly refreshing and if you want a true delight, finish off your dining with the bread pudding, it was truly chefs kiss*. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our early dinner.

Kitchen was “backed up”, impossible to get the attention of the waiters, orders came out wrong at first, fish was partly tender but mostly the consistency of jerky. Barely cafeteria quality, at NYC prices.

We went for brunch not a large menu but food was tasty and fresh. Loved the atmosphere and live jazz was a nice touch as well. Definitely a place for grown folk to have a nice time.

Food was very tasty!!!! But the alcoholic beverage prices were ridiculous. Also, there was a service charge (not the tip) that wasn't even going to the waitresses, waiters bartenders or band (went on a Sunday Jazz Brunch). Our server told us that the service charge was going to the owner! never heard of such a thing. Best to go on off hours during the late afternoons. Will likely return to try the extended menu .... the food, as I said, was very tasty.

We would like to bring some clarity to the information you were given by one of our servers that was incorrect regarding the service fee. The service fee does NOT go to the owners. That fee is to help offset costs, keep the menu prices as low as possible and helps cover the cost of paying for the band. At the bottom of the receipt it says the following: "We have added a small service charge so that we can continue providing you with an excellent dining experience." I was running late for my reservation but the hostess was very accommodating. The food was great! Good sized portions for the price, we left feeling very satisfied. Great music in the background, was at a perfect volume because my husband and I love to get into good convo at dinner and we could still hear one another. Our waiter was great, good energy, very attentive even for a busy Saturday night. We will definitely go back!

The food was good. I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be back. One thing I will say that might be an issue. The space between the tables is very small. I noticed a lot of nyc spots like you to be on top of strangers. I don't particularly care for that, and if you're plus size, good luck squeezing between those tables.

I like this place. Would go more often if they slightly modified the menu to add a vegan gumbo (they have a vegetarian version) and adding a plant-based protein option for the gumbo (beans?).

Food was incredible. Loved the energy and live band! Hostess and servers were very nice but we were a bit frustrated because we wanted to stay longer (at the bar) and felt we were being rushed to leave. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

The food was okay. Definitely not New Orleans gumbo. We went during lunch time and had to order from the lunch menu. It was something to do but we won’t be back. The server was nice. The place was small. I wish the gumbo station was where we could see the gumbo being made and not at the bar.

As a NY-er who has spent A LOT of time in New Orleans over the past 35 years, and has suffered through the many incarnations of restaurants in NYC which have tried to recreate the special cuisine of NOLA with extremely limited success, I am very happy to say that File Gumbo Bar is the REAL DEAL! I'd be happy to eat this food if I was in NOLA, it's that legit! Friendly servers, good cocktails, nice ambience...I'll be a frequent diner there. I suggest you do the same.

I had the pleasure of dining at Filé Gumbo Bar with my girlfriend yesterday, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! The food was incredibly delicious, and the service was top-notch. We tried the gumbo and shrimp po'boy, and both dishes were bursting with flavor. As someone who has traveled to Louisiana and tasted authentic Cajun cuisine, I can confidently say that Filé Gumbo Bar truly captures the essence and authenticity of Louisiana flavors. I highly recommend it to anyone craving a taste of the bayou!

It was lovely time. My server was great everyone was very friendly. I’m not much of a Gumbo gal. But I had to try it. My drink was yummy and so was the appetizer.

The place was FANTASTIC!! The food, the ambiance, the drinks, and of course, the LIVE Jazz Band was Smoking Hot! Although the crowd consists of young adults, I admired their amazing energy. I also admired the courtesy that they gave me as one of elder prestige and respect. Kudos to their families with their upbringing! This place is one that I would highly recommend. Will DEFINITELY be coming back!

The service was amazing! The hostess L. Daniel’s was truly amazing and I would go back to the for the cocktails and the lively environment. The food is fair at best, but not bad. Make a reservation early and enjoy the vibes

Went here for the first time and will definitely be back. We sat at the bar - place was packed. The food was amazing. The cocktails were great. The bartender was very knowledgeable. I got the shrimp/crab gumbo, and it was delicious. I was just in New Orleans a few months ago - an felt like I was back there.
