Built in 1927, Fig313 stands today as an original historical landmark of San Clemente, with a history that is meant to be shared with its seaside community. Carefully constructed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, distinctive design features include red-tile roofs, white stucco walls, hand-crafted windows and arches, painted tiles, and open-air courtyards.

Originally owned for the first 33 years by John and Jeanette Riley, 313 El Camino Real was renowned as Riley’s Waffle and Coffee Shop. Legend has it that actor John Wayne frequented the restaurant for a hearty American breakfast along with many travelers from all over the world. From 1960 on, Riley’s Café would change ownership many times, evolving into a furniture store, French restaurant, tequila company, and catering business. In 2012, the current owners purchased the property and began renovations and restoration, while staying true to the integrity of the original style.

We had an outstanding evening at Fig 313 last night. Our meal started with the delicious Olive Fig Tapenade. The portion was perfect for two. Then we shared Fig Wagyu Burger, cooked exactly to our request. We ended our meal with the flourless chocolate cake. I would suggest that the cake be warmed up before serving. We also had a nice bottle of wine Malbec. And the server, Mikele, was excellent. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

Came here before the pandemic and the food was amazing. While the service and ambiance was great, the food is lacking. Salad had brown leaves, chicken was tasteless, and my chocolate cake was hard.

We eat at Fig 313 frequently and the dining is always superb. We enjoyed a cocktail and wine, paired with Cheese Fondue and steak everything was excellent Dr R

Gorgeous patio/garden as I never seen before. Beautiful plants and the ambiance. Food was good and flavorful with nice presentation. Service was on point, attentive and knowledgeable. Prices ware reasonable for those unique dishes and really good cocktails. Best in town !!

I love this place! Went last night for a mothers day dinner and everything was wonderful. I had the beef bourguignon which tasted great, mom had the braised short ribs, very tasty, sister had the burger, always good. We had signature cocktails and a flourless chocolate cake with ice cream, beyond good. Our server was Andrew who was super attentive, generous, and just terrific. The owner Gus was very nice and helpful to us. I have been to Fig 313 a few times and this place checks all the boxes, great food, nice atmosphere, and wonderful staff!

Only question is…why did I wait so long to visit this charming restaurant?? The inside is beautifully decorated but all the charm is outside, cute tables that are either surrounding by a fireplace, a water feature or under a trellis, walls are dripping in greenery and patio has heater located throughout for those chilly nights. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. The warm bread with fig butter is heavenly, the fig salad is one of the best I’ve had and the salmon dish was perfection. It had mini potatoes, roasted tomatoes and green beans, portions were the right size and every bite was full of flavor! The cocktails were also divine, I had the C.O.D, cocktail of the day, which was a pomegranate spritz and my friend had the Spicy Berry. This place is a must visit and now top of my list, great for date night, GNO or a group. I can’t wait to go back😊

Our entire dining experience was lovely. The waiter and staff were great, the food was delicious, and at the end of our meal the owner showed us around the restaurant and shared the history of the building. The entire evening was delightful and we will return!
