As a bar-focused restaurant, we craft garden-to-glass cocktails served alongside Chef Joe Zobel's modern American cuisine inspired by West Sonoma County's abundance of biodiversity. Along with our menu of innovative and delicious dishes, the bar features house-made beer and spirit-free elixirs, as well as locally-sourced and small-production wines by the glass. Fern Bar's airy, plant-filled space can be found within The Barlow, Sebastopol's popular shopping and dining destination. Our outdoor dining room is covered with a heater next to every table, it still gets cold so bring a layer.

We love the food, we love the service. Avoid dining Outdoors. It doesn't have the charm and ambience of the true "Fern Bar" -- more like a parking lot. Chilly wind was supplemented with overbearing gas heaters. INDOORS, 5 POINTS. Outdoors, never again.

Service and food were both stellar! Second time going so I knew what to expect, but it’s always worth making plans for. The staff are very friendly and create a great atmosphere for any occasion. If in need of a date night idea and haven’t yet been, this is a must try! Can be pricy but well worth the tastes you experience.

I’ve been wanting to try Fern Bar for a while and it did not disappoint! My husband and I decided on a last minute date night, and Fern Bar had openings so we went for it. It was charming and romantic inside. We loved the moody decor and staff were outstanding and friendly. We tried a few different cocktails and they were all fantastic (Let’s Taco Bout it, Fern Bargarita, and Mint Condition). For a starter we got the fried chicken and it was really delicious! My husband had the Green Curry Trout and I had the Umami Bomb, both of which we would order again in a heartbeat. We will definitely add this to our date night rotation!!

We absolutely love the Fern Bar and go often. They serve larger groups (with enough notice) efficiently as well as providing an intimate setting for a party of two. The food is inventive and delicious. You can always expect a work of art to be served up on every plate and every cocktail…and their cocktail game is second to none. The bartenders are better described as mixologists. The fresh flowers and herbs often come from the owners own garden. Obviously a labor of love. They provide a meal for any dietary restriction. And their collaboration with local merchants is an example of community that any small town would envy. Obviously, we are huge fans.

Excellent ambiance. Attentive staff. Food was so so good! Visiting from out of town and had meals there 3 times, both dinner and lunch, each with cocktails! Bartenders were great: prompt service, outstanding cocktails, just all around nice people. Would highly recommend!

Great food and awesome drink menu. The falafel was really good. I enjoyed the bite size fried chicken as well with the spicy cream sauce. The drinks were made well and presented excellent.

Service was spot on as usual. Fern Bar is our favorite place at The Barlow if not all of Santa Rosa. Usually there 2-3 times a month. Drinks were also great.

As always, delicious food in a lovely spot. I didn't get any brunch drinks this time, but their bloody mary is one of the best. HUGE kudos to the hostess who sat us in the private room after I told her that my sister was still nervous about in-door dining.

Accidentally made a reservation for outdoor and they realized it was cold and saved the private room for our group! Really fun and private way to enjoy girls time without disrupting anyone else. Food and drinks are super expensive. Pork belly was 90% fat. Everything else about fern bar I love.

Fern Bar is forever and always my absolute favorite restaurant in Sonoma County. SO many memories here! Fern Bar was the first restaurant I ate at when I moved to California, had many many girl's nights, a memorable 4th date with my now-boyfriend of two years (and many dates since then), where my 27th birthday dinner took place, and much much more. Of course, when I was planning this week of celebration (my sister and her husband are visiting from Texas for their 40th birthdays and 15 year wedding anniversary) I had to include Fern Bar on their itinerary. Thank you for making my sister and brother in law's first time dining there a sensational one! Love, Kayla

We ordered the Banh Xao, one of the party is Vietnamese. Not even close. Which is fine, but tell the wait staff to tell people it is the American version and to not sell it as autnentic. Also, gave the waiter my credit card so my guest would not pay. I asked him to run it before he got to the table with the check so there would be no argument (I knew she would try to pay). He shows up with the check, she takes it from him, and when I reminded him he had my card, it was clear he had completely forgotten. this MIGHT not be so bad, but this also happened the time before when I was in. WTH? Tell your people to write stuff down or do something to helpt them remember. I was on the service side for 20 years before doing HR. I was able to remember customer requests like that without any problems. Focus, people, focus.

This is a beautiful place, with lovely rooms and lots of plants. Our dinner would have been more enjoyable if it hadn't been so noisy; even when the overly loud people at the neighboring table finally left, the remaining noise level made it hard to have a normal conversation. But I guess this is more of a drinking than an eating establishment. - The food was delicious (especially the smash burger), but my tofu with vegetables dish was disappointingly small - for $23 I had expected a little bit more food! The drinks were okay, and we enjoyed the churros for dessert.

Made dinner reservation @ 5 pm outside since it was only the spot available. We arrived a little bit after 5 pm and asked if we could sit at the inside lounge. We hosted many parties there in the past. The Host was rude to my guests upon check in and dismissive. She did make any attempt to accommodate or at least make us feel welcomed. Thankfully, the rest of the staff and service rendered were wonderful. Not sure if I can highly recommend Fern Bar at this point and time to my friends and family.
