Our intention is to serve unique food and wine in a comfortable setting accessible to everyone. We would like to welcome everybody with our passion and sincerity.

We invite you to join us whether it is for a glass of wine, lunch, brunch or even to pamper yourself with our 4-6 courses daily created inspirations for dinner. We are a small plates restaurant which encourages sharing amongst guests to sample many dishes from our daily inspired menu. Its simple, we have something for everyone….Lunch and Brunch are both first come first served, no reservations.

In the Philippines, "Pulutan" refers to small or medium dishes consumed as snacks while drinking alcohol. These dishes are usually rich, fatty, tangy, crispy, grilled, and meaty. They're an integral part of Filipino drinking culture, and we are excited to share this culture with you through our pop-up. One of the most famous types of Filipino street food is BBQ skewers, also known as Pinoy BBQ. These skewers are often enjoyed as a part of pulutan. Our BBQ Pulutan menu offers a range of smoked & grilled meat skewers, smoky fish kinilaw, banana leaf-wrapped rice, pickles, and condiments. Don't worry. We will still have cornbread available among other supplemental items. Experience Filipino BBQ Pulutan with Basta Barbecue!

Fantastic meal and excellent value. Great little neighborhood gem feel combined with honest friendly service. Tasting menu of the highest quality at a price that is honestly below what many lesser restaurants would be charging. Wine pairing bold and spot on. Cannot recommend highly enough. Only downside would be that there is currently construction across the street that diminishes their outdoor section. Not their fault but make sure to be seated inside. For a final bill half of what you’ll pay elsewhere in Vancouver for high end dining, this is a must visit.

There were 3 of us at dinner, 2 pescatarians and 1 vegetarian and we were delighted by the selection of inventive, delicious dishes. The combination of textures and flavours is remarkable. The fazzoletti and the sauce they sit on are spectacular. So good wewere tempted to reorder them.

Stellar experience—I could not imagine the food any better! Between the 4 of us we tried a lot of items on the menu. Every one of us was blown away, and we had a fantastic timetogether at the Farmer’s Apprentice. Looking forward to going here again soon!

Food was amazing. We ordered smoked cabbage twice. The taste of every dish we had was better than many one star restaurants I ate at. Farmer’s Apprentice is ready for its first star.

I would say that the food was overpriced. The portions were very small. The order of bread was 1 piece cut in half. The chef's menu would not be worth the money, so our group ordered items off the main menu (some doubles for size) and it was much less expensive. The lighting could be more dim, I found the ambience slightly off.

Loved the tasting menu from last time we were there and wasn’t as impressed this visit. Very niche items (oysters, chicken liver and duck) that didn’t seem that fresh. Service and atmosphere is always excellent.

Creative dishes in a relatively casual atmosphere. When you look at the photos and think "I must try this!", you're correct - you must. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a memorable evening sharing each dish with our friends.

This was our first time back to The Farmer's Apprentice since we went vegan, and the staff accommodated us very well! We had an awesome tamale for our main dish, and some great small plates from their sister restaurant next door, Grapes and Soda. The wine was amazing as well. We like the vibe of the restaurant as well, nice music and dim lit. Thank you!

The portion of grouper bass was normal. The lentils and purée were minimal portions … I was not very full for the delicious $49 dish,… There was a choice of only one delicious dessert that had coffee ice cream in it … I don’t like caffeine but I ordered it because I was hungry… Ha ha ha. The sparkling water was complementary and filtered which was very nice. She warmed up some milk for me for a nominal charge of $2.50… I tipped generously since overall it was a great experience… Good music and I like being seated where I could see into the kitchen, to see the creative goings on 😉

With no reflection at all on the restaurant itself, OpenTable didn’t reflect that the restaurant was not open, so on the day, and the hour of our reservation, we stood with our hands in our pockets looking at a locked door on a day we had reservations . . . that we even confirmed!!

I felt the portion sizes were too small on a few main dishes for 2 people for the tasting menu (the grouper…served to 3 people next to us was 3 x our portion). Also - we were told we’d have duck- as our table next to us did - also doing a tasting menu following us- but had short ribs- after i indicated we dont eat beef much but duck was fine. Service was very attentive.

The servers were both very knowledgeable about the dishes and wine options and they made us feel right at home! The kitchen really put together an amazing array of food and flavours which we enjoyed immensely!! The ambience and dedicated culinary team really make this food experience one of a kind. We will definitely be back more often.

Unfortunately, a miss. The service was a little awkward, the food was ok, but overall the food and especially the wine was expensive. For the price I was expecting some part of the experience to be special but it was a miss for me.

A little gem of a place. The menu is small but very well curated and flavors are well balanced. Chef Alden Ong always works his magic in composing each dish. We'll certainly be returning again and again.

First time eating at bib gourmand award farmer’s apprentice. Overall, it was good experience. I enjoyed the food. Service was good but hoping one of the server can be more enthusiastic and sociable. The other server is good able to communicate. I would say that I would try again with my family member next time. It’s hard to say on this first visit.

Four of us who dine together often at different restaurants around the PNW went for the BBQ lunch. We were told the idea was to order and eat family style, which we did… ordered everything on the menu.. but the portions of the mains were canapé sized. Four canapés on a plate. The food itself was delicious, just expected more for a main dish. I’d maybe understand the portions on a set coursed meal, however not a family style BBQ lunch. The smoked hotdog was divine and there was a lovely wine selection!
