About:
Elske means love in Danish, a nod to both David Posey’s Danish mother and the fact that the couple got engaged in Copenhagen. “Our travels in Denmark have really influenced us,” Chef Posey said. “We like that clean, simple aesthetic.” The dining room — all crisp lines, minimalist décor & soft lighting — is anchored by a wide open kitchen on one side & a small patio with a working fireplace on the other. Combined with the friendly service, it creates the impression that you’re eating in a supremely tasteful Scandinavian friend’s weekend home.

We had the most marvelous experience at Elske. The beautiful walled garden entrance, indoor/outdoor vibe, woodsmoke, casual yet chic environment and open plan kitchen all set the mood for the exquisite meal to come. We enjoyed the tasting menu plus the fermented black bean agnolotti addition, at our servers suggestion, and each course held delicious and beautifully composed creations presented by the chefs themselves. Scandinavian influences in food and design created an unique and light experience. Highly recommend the tasting menu as an introduction to this gem in the west loop.

We had enjoyed Elske with our whole family before in colder weather and were back yesterday as a couple for Mother's Day on a beautiful day. It was a special treat. Their outdoor seating area is spectacular - one of the best in the city. It felt like their beautiful interior and the outdoor patio were one. That is not to take anything away from the food. Wonderfully creative set menu at the top of new American with a big touch of Danish influences. Service was extremely good and accommodating. It certainly deserves its Michelin star! Kudos to the husband and wife who run this great Chicago restaurant in the West Loop. Highly recommended.

We have dined at Elske multiple times and find the experience to be consistently excellent. The staff, the creativity of the menu, timing, presentation, atmosphere are all great. And cap it off with a few minutes sitting outside by the fire. There is no going wrong when choosing Elske.

Visiting Elske is always a pleasure. The food is consistently seasonally-appropriate, refined but unpretentious, and delicious. The staff are relaxed and friendly, attentive without hovering and clearly know the menu. The environment — especially the outdoor courtyard, complete with fire — is elegant and warm without being stuffy or distracting from the food. If you're not convinced, drop in for dessert and a drink — that'll convince you. To me, Elske has joined a short list of Chicago institutions (ex., Avec; Lula) that have sustained excellence for long periods of time without getting bored or boring — while remaining accessible as a couple-times-a-year fancy date night destination to us mere mortals.

The food was incredible! Every dish was A+ (even the the anchovies our non anchovy lover admitted were great). Our service was also wonderful with Wesley giving us great recommendations and service. Will definitely be back!

Our group of 4 enjoyed a wonderful experience - and delicious. We chose the tasting meal menu with wine pairings and each course and the accompanying wine was described nicely by a member of the chef’s team. Our waiter, Paul, set a perfect pace and spirit for our table. 5 stars from our perspective!

We were looking forward to our dinner at Elske's. I originally chose Elske because it is my wife's nickname but when I read the reviews, we really got excited. Elske did not disappoint. The restaurant has a super vibe, and our server, Paul, was fabulous. He was very personable, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. There was no question about any of the foods or beverages offered that he could not answer thoroughly. A real pleasure of a guy. We ordered the tasting menu, and each course was a culinary journey. It was a wonderful melding of flavors and textures. It was hard to decide on a favorite. The Hamachi, Cod, and Duck Liver were amazing. The Striploin was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The star of the night was the dessert. It had so much flavor and complexity. We could understand the following that this restaurant has. We look forward to a return visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience

Swordfish was a miss. Every other bite was delicious! Particularly loved the cheese plate and sunflower butter parfait. Waitress seemed annoyed or uninterested and had a 45 min gap in our courses.

Everything was perfect. Our second tasting menu. Both were diverse and perfectly balanced. Got a wine and a juice pairing,both were spectacular. I don't know how they do it. Every course of the tasting menu was outstanding. Service was top notch and the atmosphere was perfect (moody Chicago night, outside fire, cozy blankets, cocktails, and the food...oh my goodness, the food). And then dessert. We actually ordered 2 additional desserts to augment the tasting menu dessert as we were celebrating two special occasions. They were all perfect. Simply perfect. Will be back again and again. And again.

This menu was not as good as the last time we ate there. Too many fried entrees and not very inventive or inspiring first courses. We started our meal with bread, cheese & crackers, and anchovies. I can get sourdough, good cheese, and a jar of anchovies from my local grocery store and it requires no skilled prep for me. Fried octopus and fried sword fish were both misses and we really did not want fried food. White asparagus was just ok. We normally love Elske, so we will be back. Unfortunately this trip was a miss and we brought two other couples that have never been there before. Sadly, both couples were underwhelmed. Service was excellent though. Drinks were good. It was very reasonably priced.

Elske always amazes us - not because it is flawless with regard to service and ambiance (it is!) - but because the food is irresistible, but defies description by an ordinary diner such as myself. Elske uses ingredients most of us don't have in our kitchens and the chefs create flavor combinations that are novel, delicious, and consistent with the season. Their new spring menu was full of surprises. Elske's portions are generous and we generally need only 3 dishes to be completely satisfied. The rabbit terrine presented on a buckwheat crepe, was cold, light, and refreshing, with generous pieces of rabbit visible. The octopus with morel mushrooms, potato dumplings, and watercress melted in our mouths. Grilled duck was served with spring artichokes and ramps. Wesley, our server, made sure we had accurate descriptions of the new dishes, helped us make good choices, and throughout the meal provided seamless service. Our thanks to the entire staff. We can't wait to check out the tasty surprises on our next trip to Elske.

Food was just good. Nothing outstanding compared to other restaurants in the area. Menu is limited, unless you order from the tasting menu. I booked the bar because it was the only thing available but when we got there they had 3 tables available and I wasn’t allowed to sit there even though it was late and those tables didn’t get sat the rest of the night.

From the moment we approached the restaurant our experience was 5 star! Ambience, food and especially service were top notch. We were celebrating our anniversary so we started off with a champagne toast. Star dishes of the evening were the octopus, meatballs, stuffed pasta dish were incredible. I can’t say enough about the service. Attentive but not intrusive, accommodating and hospitable. Excellent job, we will be back!

We greatly enjoyed the set menu. Portion sizes were perfect (most offerings were tasting size), variety was wide (everything from chicken croquettes to hamachi to striploin) and presentation was impeccable. Tables are very close together and it was a bit noisy but otherwise the ambiance was pleasing.

I recommend that you get the tasting when you go. There’s a lot of different flavors in each course. My husband and I enjoyed it. He had never experienced anything like this.

We had the loveliest meal at Elske. The food was great, and the service was even better--everyone we interacted with was lovely and helpful and our server in particular made perfect wine and dish recommendations. (She also very kindly comped us a sunflower seed parfait that was probably the biggest hit of the night--do not sleep on the desserts.) The space itself is gorgeous--clean, light-filled, and comfortable. Wish we'd been around for slightly warmer weather, so we could have spent more time on their patio. All told, a pretty magical experience.

The food was good and very interesting. It sure was a great experience for me and my partner. Our waitress Zeida was also very nice and informative and attentive. We arrived 20 mins early and they gave us our reservation. We’ll come again.

Elske was absolutely delicious. Outstanding service, quality and presentation. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy the set menu but the sever worked with me to offer alternate suggestions for some of the dishes and they were all terrific! Very unique experience.
