About:
Elske means love in Danish, a nod to both David Posey’s Danish mother and the fact that the couple got engaged in Copenhagen. “Our travels in Denmark have really influenced us,” Chef Posey said. “We like that clean, simple aesthetic.” The dining room — all crisp lines, minimalist décor & soft lighting — is anchored by a wide open kitchen on one side & a small patio with a working fireplace on the other. Combined with the friendly service, it creates the impression that you’re eating in a supremely tasteful Scandinavian friend’s weekend home.

We ordered off the regular menu and the asparagus omelette, octopus, swordfish and agnolotti were all SO salty and unbalanced. I asked for a lemon wedge and after many minutes of waiting our server brought it and I was able to finish my meal, but honestly it was a disappointing meal for a special occasion. I ordered the stirred cocktail which tasted of Gatorade but our server did not notice that it was not consumed or offer to exchange. I had already complained about the salty food and our server seemed uncomfortable so I gave up at that point. I hope the tasting menu is better!

The foods was very salty. All I could tasted was saltiness and not much of other flavors. The service was ok but not what I would expect for the price. I’m very disappointed with the foods given the price. It is so overrated.

Second time here. Thoughtfully prepared food. Refined but relaxed ambiance. Big portion sizes for 2, would’ve preferred to sample a greater variety. Now I am gluten intol and that eliminated ~2/3 of the menu options. Thoughtful non-alcoholic beverages. Generally friendly service though some of the staff seemed annoyed / rushed. (We did show up late for the reservation but they were kind enough to seat us anyway under the condition that we only had the table for 1.5hr)

We are from Lexington, IL and have been wanting to dine at Elske for a while. We had some mutual connections and obviously wanted to try Monica Casillas-Rios‘s cocktails!! We walked through the beautiful courtyard to get inside and were greeted with such warmth and kindness from the hostess. Our server, Wesley, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful with menu suggestions and the wine list. He was the best! Literally every sip and bite tasted divine, nostalgic, and comforting. The whole staff treated us well and we even received complementary glasses of wine and dessert which BLEW US AWAY. We cried almost the whole meal and can’t stop thinking about our experience. THE ANCHOVIES. THE AGNOLOTTI. THE GJETOST! EVERYTHING! Thank you, Elske! ❤️

We had the most marvelous experience at Elske. The beautiful walled garden entrance, indoor/outdoor vibe, woodsmoke, casual yet chic environment and open plan kitchen all set the mood for the exquisite meal to come. We enjoyed the tasting menu plus the fermented black bean agnolotti addition, at our servers suggestion, and each course held delicious and beautifully composed creations presented by the chefs themselves. Scandinavian influences in food and design created an unique and light experience. Highly recommend the tasting menu as an introduction to this gem in the west loop.

We had enjoyed Elske with our whole family before in colder weather and were back yesterday as a couple for Mother's Day on a beautiful day. It was a special treat. Their outdoor seating area is spectacular - one of the best in the city. It felt like their beautiful interior and the outdoor patio were one. That is not to take anything away from the food. Wonderfully creative set menu at the top of new American with a big touch of Danish influences. Service was extremely good and accommodating. It certainly deserves its Michelin star! Kudos to the husband and wife who run this great Chicago restaurant in the West Loop. Highly recommended.
