I really wanted to fall in love with Elsie’s, but it was not meant to be. First, as most reviews mentions, the noise level is not acceptable. Even with the restaurant emptying it was borderline intolerable. It looks like they may have added some acoustic noise dampening panels on the ceiling. Given the hardwood floor and relatively low ceiling they need to add much more to the ceiling and walls. So this needs to be fixed. Second, given the love that was put into the buildout, and numerous reviews that rave about the personal touch I expected this to be a cozy, friendly place. Unfortunately that was not our experience at all. We had the last reservation of the evening, and after we were seated the hostess disappeared. We were served water fairly immediately- but then sat for 20 minutes until our waiter reappeared. This is a small restaurant but we saw no one during that time. Once we did order the flow of food and drink was fine - but no one ever checked on us. Not the waiter or any manager or owner. It just felt very cold and impersonal. This is easily fixed and perhaps we just had an unusual experience. Finally, the food was also disappointing. We were disappointed in the Caesar salad, but that is a matter of personal taste - the romaine was grilled and served warm. The arancini was a soggy mess buried in tomato sauce - the balls should have a crisp from being fried and should not be buried deep in tomato sauce. For entrees, a true bolognese should be a hearty ragu. Elsie’s was primarily tomato sauce with a small amount of meat added at the top of a pile. Disappointing and overpriced for what was served. The cod - apparently a signature dish - was very dry and suffered in texture from not being fresh. The mashed potatoes also seemed like they had been prepared long ago and reheated. Some sauce would have helped, but the dish really needs some love. In sum, all fixable but the restaurant needs to take the theme of these reviews to heart and make some changes.

Second visit to Elsie's and I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, the food fell short. Chicken Parm was very over cooked this time and last trip, the steak was dry and overcooked. We will be looking elsewhere going forward.

very nice people...ate outside...weird caesar with overly sweet and soft croutons and flavorless dressing....$19 for kale in bowl with some stuff in it. A dry 3 oz piece of chicken on top....wrong price, wrong plating....wife's eggplant ...quite average with a hefty price of $28....the food will keep us away but we had a great time with the owners? and their friends who ate next to us...too bad because they allow dogs out side....good menu but based on our food . which is most important we probably will pass....we wish them well

I’ve been to Elsie’s Table a few times since it opened and have had an excellent experience every time. We had the salmon and scallops last night.. both were delicious. The wine list is impressive, unique for the suburbs.

We dined on a Saturday evening with a 7pm reservation. We were seated right away at a high table close to the entrance. I hadn’t expected to sit at a high table for the dinner but we were fine with it. I think sitting at a high table does take away from the romantic feel so be prepared if planning a romantic dinner out or a special occasion since this is a very small restaurant. We enjoyed our food - caesar salad, risotto with scallops, and cod served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. However, our overall experience was dampened by crowding near where we sat. Lots of people arrived and tables were not ready for them to be seated. Throughout our dinner we had several people standing around next to our table. Given how small the restaurant is, they should consider asking people to wait outside so that diners can have privacy and not feel rushed.
