We loved everything. Excellent ceviche. The taco special of the day was amazing! The Mole main course was such a unique flavor profile… we really enjoyed it. The home made rolls with the special butter and pepper reduction “dip”/“spread” was addictive. My cocktail, a Mezcal with fresh lime, basil, pineapple and a little heat from… maybe a jalopeno? Excellent!

We visited El Naranjo last night to celebrate a milestone…and as always, the meal was outstanding! The cocktail offering is always special, but my husband still insists they have the best margarita in town—not too sweet and well balanced. We always go when we want the full meal experience—a beautiful cocktail, special appetizer, entree and dessert. Each of these is always stellar.

Octopus and potatoes were fantastic, as were the condiments accompanying the bread rolls. Unfortunately, the special mole-of-the-month (green, with pumpkin seeds) was so mild-flavored it was verged on blah. But the halibut that came with it was really good. The 2-top tables are very small; it was a challenge to fit all the plates and glasses on it.

Our server was fantastic. Knowledgeable, personable and just overall terrific. Had another great meal. Flavors are SO good. Love their moles. Have never had a bad drink or food selection. Great for mezcal drinkers. Love their Tamarindo margaritas. One of our favorite places!

Great restaurant. The food and drinks were very fresh and delicious. Service was prompt. All the staff worked together as a team Limited menu, making it not overwhelming when having to decide what to eat when you’re hungry. This also means the kitchen can focus fully on the items they have in house. We will be back soon.

Happy hour specials were great. They’re not advertised on the menu but our server made sure to let us know what the deals were and reminded us to get another drink in before hh ended. Food was good, generously portioned and very flavorful. Very busy and loud, but good, fun atmosphere.

Fantastic food last Thursday night. Great margaritas and fun environment. Service was not great, as the waiter was a little prickly even if he was attentive. Will return and hope for a different waiter. The food is worth it!

Chef Iliana de la Vega is deserving of the 2022 James Beard award. The food at El Naranjo is superb & the service is excellent. Many thanks to the Dustin, the manager of El Naranjo who gave us a guided tour of the artwork after our delicious dinner. Jerry is a wonderful & attentive server.

Ate here for Sunday brunch with two girlfriends. The pan dulces and ceviche are outstanding. Highly recommend getting the green sauce on chile quiles. I had the taco dorados and they were excellent. The cocktails were very good as well.

What can top El Naranjo in Oaxaca? El Naranjo on S. Lamar! I felt like I was transported back to Iliana's original restaurant in Mexico. The food is ever more mature in hitting the savory, spicy and sweet chords. The Pipian mole was lovely and the classic brown mole was amazing. My Llorena drink was made by request without alcohol. One of the best mocktails that I've ever had. All courses were outstanding with high props for this month's ceviche. Full up on a FRI night. Reservations are a must. Parking a breeze and free in next door's garage attached to this building.

The service was excellent but the food wasn’t quite as good as I’ve had there. I always ordered ceviche because it’s so good but this time there was very little fish and lots of hard corn. It was just a different mixture. The drinks are very tasty.

I made a reservation to begin my wife's birthday with brunch. This was our first time dining at El Naranjo. We noticed the chef's story on social media and were intrigued. We had a great first experience. The appetizers and main courses were all delightfully balanced with culinary nuance and fresh, bright flavors. We devoured everything we ordered, and while being filling and flavorful, nothing felt heavy or overbearing. We noticed a line forming minutes before opening, giving a sense that we'd might the right choice, and we did! We'll be back, ready to bob and weave our way through the generous menu, gorgeous food, gracious flavors, and good service. Buen provecho!

This is a spot not to be missed. Casual and approachable in atmosphere with some of the most elevated, interesting Mexican food I’ve ever had. Impeccable service from Dustin and team. This could easily be an expensive restaurant but it’s super affordable. Don’t skip the duck!

We had a delightful and attentive server. Not invasive and very helpful. The food was all delicious and the cocktails were creative and tasty. We enjoyed the decor but with all of the hard surfaces, it was pretty noisy so we had to shout a bit to have a conversation. Just added to the noise, I know. Still, we went for Brunch and plan to go for an evening meal. The dinner menu is really enticing and maybe folks won't be so shouty in the evening. No complaining, just saying it is pretty loud. It was for a special Birthday treat and it did not disappoint!

This was our first time at El Naranjo. The service was stellar - our waiter was great at making recommendations, our water was always refilled and everyone was super nice. The food was excellent. The daily ceviche was so fresh and citrusy. I ordered the Mole Blanco de Oaxaca with halibut and my husband ordered the Shortrib. The flavors were outstanding, the mole and sweet potato sauce were delicious and both fish and meat were cooked to perfectly. We each tried a few cocktails and loved them. I tried the Mezcalina and La Llarona and both were spicy and not overly sweet. We will be back.

Authentic, fresh and delicious food. Great friendly service. In the upper range of cost. But excellent overall value. Ambiance is modern and not consistent with an immersive Mexican experience but we were there to eat and we did!
