I’ve been here before and it hasn’t disappointed but my recent experience was bad. We sat down and ordered food and drinks which were one order of birria tacos and two classic margaritas. After about 30min of waiting our tacos arrived and our server did not even give us water or tissues and utensils and she did not bother to check in either. After an additional 15 min we received our margaritas which tasted very bad because it seemed like they just poured lemon juice in a cup and served it to us. Our portions for the drinks were also different; my friends cup was full and I received a half glass. Maybe it’s a good thing it was only half since the drink was so bad. It’s sad because last summer this was my go to place for good food and drinks!

We have been visiting El Guapo now three times and food was always great at decent prices. Parking close by was never an issue and we will for sure be back again

A very lively atmosphere with relatively loud music playing, however, the music is very good and adds to the ambience of the place. Our waitress was super friendly and fun, the drinks delicious, and the food very good. We fully enjoyed ourselves and would go back for sure!

The food is amazing, lots of flavour and good portion amount. The staff were lovely and the food is reasonably priced. Must note, very fresh food.

They have an excellent menu and the food is SO GOOD. I was also blown away with the margarita. Our server was really nice and we got our food in a timely manner. I can't wait to go back!

Great Mexican restaurant in Yaletown. We were there after a Canucks game so it was very busy, but the service was very good. We had both veggies and meat tacos - all super good. The Nachos weren't our favorite, but the churos made up for that (so good!!).

Food is good amd worth it in my opinion the first server we had wasn’t the best but we had another girl help us half way through and she was very nice!

Ordered the Al Pastor tacos, chips and guacamole and Mezcal margaritas. Chips & guac: average, chips were not made fresh to order.. it was cold but still crunchy. The guac was bland.. definitely needed more lime. Al Pastor tacos: better, had a nice char & spice to it. Nothing bad about it. Mezcal margaritas: came in a short glass, wish it came in a larger glass for the price. The service: was poor, lots of servers when we came but were not very attentive. I feel like it’s like this in most yaletown “bar” restaurants though. The servers don’t really need to “serve” anymore because they know they’ll get the 15% tip - since it’s mandatory 🤷‍♀️

Night out before sending my son back to university. Delicious nachos - with ground beef and all the sides. We each had different tacos and they were all awesome. The cocktails were perfection, especially the coconut margarita 🤌

The coconut Margaritas were delicious. The fajitas and fish tacos were very good. The servers were super friendly and attentive. We look forward to going back.

A busy evening due to both a soccer game at BC Place and a Canucks game, so we understand the staff were rushed, but our server did NOT want to be there. Got our drink order wrong, rushed off before all 4 of us had given her our food orders so I had to chase her, apparently forgot to put in the 4th order, so had to get it to go so we wouldn't be late for the game. This individual is not made out for this job... Apart from that, we'd go back, but would ensure we never had her as a server again.

Met with friends I hadn't seen for some time, and while the vibe was good inside the restaurant, I wished I had known the music was soo loud. We yelled at each other the entire time. The food was average. My tacos were cold and the tortilla shells were hard, were they were supposed to be warm. The food felt dry. Music was great, especially when the DJ came out.

We went for happy hour and I have to say it was quite good. The ceviche was a good size for two, not much tuna but the flavour was on point so it didn’t matter, the tacos were small but again- great flavour. I will say the guacamole not so good, I wouldn’t recommend it. Happy hour drinks were priced great. Good atmosphere had a good amount of delicious food for a fair price.

Good location in cool Yaletown, tasty dishes (I think the fajita must be a signature dish) friendly staff and servers, good ambiance. The place just has a great vibe. We always have a good time at El Guapo!

We wanted to stay and have drinks although we were told there was another reservation and we hat to leave our table without anyone offering to seat us at the bar or other options just basically we had to finish up and leave. Luckily there were a couple chairs at the bar so we sat there to finish off the evening

Definitely more of a drinking place for groups than a chill dinner. It was a Friday night so it was busy and very loud. Service was very friendly. Great for a drink but if you want a restaurant atmosphere where you can talk to the person sitting next to you, I would recommend somewhere else.

It was our first time there was extremely busy. We had a reservation. We had to wait 20 minutes into our reservation for a table. Then we had to rush because we were going to a concert. Our server kept forgetting about us. She only came by twice we ordered the tacos. The pork tacos or so dry.. very disappointing. Our bill was over $200. It was basically a waste of money. It was so loud in there. It was like a nightclub at six in the evening.

We requested for birthday sign and baby high chair but we didn’t get it. No one also got back to us prior to arrival otherwise we could go somewhere else. The food was not fresh and the bread was socked in the oil and smell was awful. First and last visit!

Will not be on my list to return to. Went for Happy Hour which was a decent value, tacos were tasty, Mexican tabouli was tasty, guacamole was a little bland but good amount. After that, everything was disappointing. Both of our Margaritas had to be sent back because they were way too sour (tasted like they forgot the simple syrup). Service was just weird-lacking warmth, server wouldn’t make eye contact or look at our table when walking by and we had to flag someone down anytime we wanted something. The bathrooms were in rough shape, the doors to the stalls didn’t completely close and the paper towel dispenser was out of paper.

Great spot for good Mexican food and drinks. The only small downside is that it gets very loud and you have to yell to communicate with the people on your table.
