Our dishes were good, but both the tacos and the burger were very difficult to eat / messy. Would suggest cutting back just a bit on the taco filling or increasing the size of the tortillas so they don't explode on the first bite. The burger was very tasty but would suggest letting the patty rest before putting on the bun and playing as the bottom bun was complete soggy making it very difficult to eat. Had to finish with a fork and knife which didn't feel like a true burger experience. Service was good. Wine list was interesting.

Good food but very limited. Wish they had more cocktails and more food choices. Flavors were so good! Great creative dishes. The music was LOUD. Overall would recommend

Amazing flavor profiles. Unique and elevated. Small selection of entree (1 page:2 pages drinks) but perfer that done right vs endless options. I will make a return visit for more delicious tastes but the vibe was dampened by the overly loud music. Music certainly enhances an experience but when it interferes with your ability to talk with your party—I have to remove a star. I have already recommended this place to friends but advised them to eat outside on a warmer evening to avoid the auditory issues.

we really enjoyed our food and the restaurant build out is very nice. The server could see we were catching up and did not keep bugging us to order. very pleasing. The duck was excellent.

My husband and I gave this place a try last night, not knowing much about it. We were really impressed. We shared 4 small plates and 1 entree. The yellowtail sashimi and blue fin ceviche were fantastic. As was the pork tamale style appetizer. The oysters were good overall but on the small side and one of the 4 was fishy. The Branzino was amazing. The atmosphere is dark and moody, with enjoyable R&B/hip hop/rap playing in the background (but not overpowering). The restaurant itself is small and it is very loud inside, so not the place to go for an intimate conversation when it’s busy - voices and laughter echo intensely so be prepared for that environment. We will definitely be back. Service was great!

Excellent food. Small space but it was cozy. Great date night place. I’d avoid brining small children for dinner as the space is small and more romantic.

We found ourselves at this local Encinitas place actually thinking it was upscale Mexican but pleasantly surprised to find it more of a wine bar with great food. We had a bottle of Albarino, which was great, and shared their cocina pubil starter and salmon main course. Both were fantastic, demonstrating a combination of skill with the ingredients and plating flair. We will be back.

Had an exceptional dining experience at Echale last Friday. Our server, Ash, provided impeccable service, guiding us through a selection of delightful wines. The yellowtail sashimi was exquisitely balanced, and the oysters, accompanied by a delightful hibiscus mignonette and pea tendrils, were a highlight. The mussels in broth were divine, warranting an extra side of toast to savor every bit. And don't sleep on the cacao ancho olive oil cake—it's a gem of a dessert worth savoring! It’s such a special place! You can really tell the owners have put a lot of love into the menu, the ambiance, and the staff. I absolutely recommend making a reservation for your next date night out!

Eschale is an excellent restaurant with a casual feel, but perfect for a special dinner. This restaurant is designed and implemented by actual chefs. These dishes are prepared by a chef who understands flavors and spices. A total treat to experience this level of cooking. The wines are excellent. I'm not sure if they've already done this, but would love to see Eschale offering a prix fixe menu with wine parings at some point.

Amazing food! Wonderful staff. A tiny bit noisy 🥹, and the exterior could be spruced up a bit and the stickers taken off the front door? But yet again, maybe it fits downtown Encinitas. All in all myself, my husband and my friends were super impressed.

The food was quite good - creative menu with high quality ingredients. Nice variety of options that would appeal to many diners’ preferences. That said, the service was incredibly slow and unattentive. We were seated for almost 30 minutes before having our drink order taken. We also had to wait for our table for over 15 minutes as the size of our party changed from 6 to 5, and it is absolutely impossible to get anyone to pick up the phone.

We had high hopes for Echale (their instagram makes it look incredibly appealing), however were underwhelmed upon dining. We booked a date night here and based on social media expected a very fine dining experience. The host greeted us right away and we sat down and were served water and drink order very quickly, but that was the extent of the good service. We ordered the bluefin ceviche and waited 25 min before the waitress came back to check on us - but it was never served. We got that comp’d which was nice of them to make up for the mishap in the kitchen. We were planning on staying for dinner but decided based on the underwhelming ceviche experience to order the Rojo app and close out. I would say the prices are definitely more expensive than they should be for the taste and value of the food. The bluefin didn’t have much taste and the hummus app did have nice warm tortilla, but again the flavor just wasn’t there. I can’t speak to the main courses or deserts because we bailed ship based on the first 45 minutes being so bad. The prices for the mains are some of the more expensive I’ve seen in Encinitas (think Herb and Sea prices, but much lower quality.) Overall I do not think it’s worth the price for the quality of food or service. Maybe it was an off night but for the high prices and experience - would prefer many of the other restaurants in the area or Carlsbad over this. Unfortunate - I will say their social media person makes it look much better than it is.

We were party of 4 and all of us enjoyed our food! Bolognese, branzino and steak au poivre were excellent. It would be great to have a wild fish selection. The appetizers were delicious, the wine menu was eclectic! The crispy tortillas served with the ceviche were too salty. We will return enthusiastically!!

We came due to a suggestion from a chef friend of ours, and were not disappointed. Everything was very tasty, and surprisingly good sized portions for what you pay. We’ll be back on the next special occasion.

Good wine, food & attentive service. We had 2 apps (sashimi, ceviche) and fried chicken entree. All delicious. Wine list is limited but good. Warm, lively ambiance.

Menu is fantastic and unique. We tried almost everything and all were delicious. The drink selection was a little frustrating- the aperol spritz on tap was actually crossed out on the menu as were several other wines. Also limited non alcoholic options. But a really great restaurant

Amazing service and excellent food! Unique meals - all was delicious. Recommend the tamal appetizer, fried chicken tinga and oxtail pasta. The churro might be the best I’ve ever had. And ask if the owner can whip up a hibiscus lemonade for you - the only thing that would make it better is vodka! Great wine selection.

Fantastic food. My wife had the steak I had the chicken. They were both delicious. The wine was wonderful the host made sure we felt at home. The chicken was slightly spicy but very flavorful The steak was lovely and very well prepared and a joy to snack o, after I polished off the chicken. I recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants a nice dinner with a great host and traditional dishes served with a Mexican twist. I don't know who's in the kitchen making these treats but they deserve to be congratulated.

Amazing food, artistically presented, and excellent wine! We sat out on the patio, which was surprisingly warm due to the outdoor heaters. Service was great as well.

Had an excellent meal at this restaurant tucked in among businesses in Encinitas. It was quite loud in the restaurant so don't go here for quiet and intimate conversation! But the food was outstanding, particularly the ceviche and the burger. Lots of fun- would go here again.

I dropped Echale for dinner and was quickly impressed by the friendliness and warm welcome . When my food arrived, I was happily surprised at the flavor and quality of the food. Overall, the food, wine, and excellent service make this restaurant well worth visiting.

The restaurant is nice and small but it is a little hard to talk to people inside. The food is great. Definitely not conventional but in a good way. The fried chicken was incredible. Maybe the best in San Diego.

Small, cozy and inviting - the space is great. Food was really very good - we had four beginnings instead of entrees and were really happy with our choices. The sashimi was so good and the tamal - excellent! It was all fresh and flavorful and our server was super nice and welcoming. We will for sure be back - thanks for a great meal and experience!

The “quesadilla” appetizer was amazing and the burger may be the best I’ve ever had. Their steak was amazing and overall we were all super happy with the food! We will definitely be back! The only areas for improvement are: Service was good but not great- simple things like clearing plates while we were still picking / eating gets them dinged here. Another thing to note is Id expect a place like this to make phenomenal cocktails- but it’s beer and wine only and both the beer and wine lists are not very impressive
