Originally opened in 2005, Garrett Harker’s flagship restaurant is reopening its doors up Beacon St. only three blocks from its original location. Eastern Standard continues to offer seasonally focused New England interpretations of classic brasserie fare under the direction of Culinary Director Nemo Bolin. The menu features raw bar and charcuterie, nostalgic favorites like Frisée aux Lardons, Steak Tartare, Baked Rigatoni, and Butterscotch Bread Pudding, and some new soon-to-be-instant-classic dishes. Cocktail legend Jackson Cannon has crafted a beverage menu that features an array of craft cocktails both new and classic, a curated selection of wines, and craft beers from near and far.

Disappointing downscale from the old Eastern Standard we loved. I expect the new incarnation will be successful commercially, but it is no longer aiming at fine food/fine dining, more mass market/the Fenway crowd.

Now to be honest, this new iteration of Eastern Standard is still going through its growing pains. But there are still some basic things that they should be getting right: 1) when I reserve a three person table, being seated in a two-seater by the entry vestibule is just insulting and 2) the basic cleanliness of utensils and plates should be a no-brainer for a new place. Service is a work in progress. I’ll give it another 6 months for the dust to settle, I guess. Does make the heart grow fonder for the old Eastern Standard…

We booked ES for my son's Northeastern U Grad brunch and we arrived just before they opened. I was shocked (but pleased) that they very kindly let us come in and get seated a few minutes early, which was great because we'd come from NH and really needed the ladies' room! The waitress (I wish I remembered her name but I don't - I think it was MJ maybe?) approached me right away and offered to do a special "Congratulations" message on my son's dessert, which was unexpected and AWESOME of them to think of. My ex husband is ALWAYS late, and he arrived well AFTER our reservation time, but they were not rushing us, and were very patient. You can tell the wait staff is very well trained in etiquette (things like taking the ladies' orders first, letting you taste the wine before pouring the whole glass, etc). The cocktails we had (coffee infused negroni and mimosa) were lovely - well-made and presented nicely. The food was quite good and portions were solid. My only complaint was the english muffins in my lobster benny were hard and would have broken my teeth (I think they must have had them toasted ahead of time) so I didn't eat them, but the lobster and eggs were done perfectly, and the sauce made it nevertheless the best benny I've had in my life (YUM). We had a wonderful, relaxed brunch on a crazy day, and then were just a stone's throw from Fenway when we finished, so that was an added bonus. I would DEFINITELY go back and highly recommend ES. It was $240 before tip for 5 of us, which was 5 entrees, two HUGE desserts, and 4 alcoholic beverages) but it could have been less if we had gone with generic brunch dishes instead of the steak frites and lobster, or more I suppose if we had gotten the charcuterie (which I would if I got a re-do). Bravo to the staff and management - and thank you for a great graduation day celebration.

The hostess saved the evening as we were slated to be seated at a high top in the bar where the noise was far beyond what would work for us. She geot an immediate sense upon our checking in that this would not work and found us a table vey quickly in the main dining room She was very perceptive and warm. The food was good but it was very bad form to have such an extensive wine list by the bottle but only have one cabernet by the glass for $22. We did not feel the overall value was worth it and we have al3ays enjoyed ES.

First time at this new location. was a huge fan of the old Eastern Standard and this reincarnation is every bit as good. The food is outstanding, the waitstaff superb. The restaurant is missing a little bit of the "Old Boston" charm from the former location, but that does not take away from the enjoyability of this fine dining experience.

Absolutely fantastic experience, as always, at ESK. They have the hospitality formula down -- excellent food and cocktails, attentive and personal service in a lovely, intimate setting. So glad they're back in the Kenmore area. Cheese and charcuterie boards are a must, and Old Fashioneds and wine list deliver bang for your buck, and the now-legendary fries never fail. Special shout out to our server, Hunter, who took extra-special care of us. Had been a long day, and this happy hour was just what the doctor ordered. We'll be coming back soon.

Just love the hang at Eastern Standard. Always a fun vibe here with a strong menu that allows for basic bites/oysters up to lots of nice options on full entrees. Nice to be back in a Garrett Harker restaurant...the guy does such a great job in providing a quality experience. Snuck over to Equal Measure for a night cap with the legendary Jackson Cannon...worth the short walk down the hall...what a cool, cozy spot!

Very busy after a Sox game... good sign of popularity and a good location. Quite a long wait for a table even with a reservation. Again, very good sign of popularity. Food and service were quite on top. Well organized kitchen. Price of wine was notably high. Only down side was the ambience was beyond energetic, due to the lack of absorbing finishes, the restaurant is very loud... tough to hear each other.

This is my second visit to Eastern Standard. The first was a dinner with family which was so enjoyable that I chose to meet a friend here for lunch. The restaurant wasn’t too busy so the noise level was perfect for a conversation. The meal was delicious and the service great.

Drinks were just okay. Food was pretty tasty but the service was not great. We didn't get to eat dessert because the entrees took forever to get fired and delivered. We spent a lot of time kind of searching for our waiter who was friendly but rather absent. Liked the decor/ambiance. Will give it another try but it was kind of a bummer start to an otherwise nice evening at the BSO.

We came in to celebrate our anniversary, the food was delicious (the lobster gnocchi *chefs kiss), drinks were great but the service is what took this experience over top. We had Chris as our server, we was so attentive, and just an overall great server. Will be back soon for sure!

Our server Chris P. Was outstanding! Answered all questions and gave great recommendations. Food was amazing, can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend the mussels and Friday special lobster gnocchi.

Salami and charcuterie board was okay. The salami and prosciutto was great but everything else was okay. Got Mac and cheese with lobster that was great! Hubby got the burger although he said the meat was good it was way over salted he couldn’t finish it. We ended up the cheesecake. Not good at all. Pretty much a block of cream cheese with berries. Overall it could have been better. The wait it didn’t seem to care that we didn’t touch have if the board or any of the cheesecake. Wasn’t looking for free food but it would have been nice for him to acknowledge.

Accommodated a large group for celebration. First time been since moved location. Beautiful inside. Everyone's food was delicious. Need outdoor sign so people know where the restaurant is from parking lot/street level.

We had an incredible experience at Eastern Standard. We were able to get our reservation moved up by almost two hours. Upon arrival, my toddler was a bit fussy knowing he was hungry but the manager went out of her way to grab him milk before we were even sat down. The service was wonderful and our entrees came out in record time. The food was delicious and filling. Thank you to Sophie and the team for a wonderful experience! Looking forward to returning again.

So happy we got to the new Eastern Standard. It's a beautifully open, light and comfortable lay out. Great menu and smart wait staff. Location overlooks Fenway and skyline...very nice.

The hostess was so helpful and excellent at customer service. The food was amazing. They were swamped on marathon day and still the food was delicious and fast.

I wanted to try the restaurant hearing of its past history and now present location. The menu seemed limited while having a few items I wanted to try yet decided on one of my go to’s I use to compare, fish and chips. Fish & chips: not impressed with the results and should have gone with the burger, as my guest did. The portion of fish to value was meh. A little small. One of the two pieces was very tough and chewy. Not flaky as it should. I probably had a tail section. Batter, heavily coated and I did like this. Overall rating: C Fries: basic shoestring, tasty and perfectly cooked. I did seem to get the shorts when looking across the table at the burger plate, all long cuts of the potato. Overall ratio: B Burger: one bite I had, very good. Overall rating: A Ambiance: Outdoor seating. Table bridged the deck area and main restaurant. Overall rating: B Service: Of all who greeted, sat us and served, attitudes seemed lackluster. Did they want to be there? Did they want a tip? Service was slow and inattentive at best, other than maybe water fills and a too soon to the table check in. (Had a bite of a dry and hadn’t taken a bite of my fish). Time to take order, meh. Time to get food, tooo long for the medium lunch crowd I witnessed. Time to get check, attentive. Time to take payment, server passed by my cc on the table and continued to wallow onto other tables nearby and then wallow back to the kitchen. I had to flag a greeter to take my cc to process. Overall rating: D We tried, yet not in any rush to get back.

Eastern Standard was a favorite of mine what it was in Kenmore Square. It just reopened last fall on Beacon Street in the new apartment complex near Fenway Park.. I was excited to see that and to order my favorite- Niçoise salad. I went there Patriots day and they did not have it though it was on the menu on line. Their menu is very meager if you do not eat red meat. The new spot is very nice but not sure I will go back.

Our server (I think their name was Hunter?) was stellar! They were so kind, sincere, and helpful, and my family felt welcome and taken care of. The steak frites here is fantastic. Bread pudding, drinks, and bone marrow appetizer are also all wonderful. The pastas can be a bit lacking in my opinion, having tried the gnocchi and a mushroom bolognese. Still, always a great meal at Eastern Standard! The restaurant owner clearly cares a lot about maintaining a high standard at this restaurant as well; it's nice to dine at a place where it feels that they are always working to do their best.
