Chef Douglass Williams and the team behind MIDA is proud to launch its newest concept: DW French. Located just a few block from Fenway park, this modern French Bistro draws inspiration from the streets of Paris as well as famous cuisine from all regions of France. The menu revolves around presenting the classics of French cuisine with approachability and the absolute best quality of ingredients. Think warming and savory French onion soup, perfectly seasoned steak with crispy fries, juicy roasted chicken, a crisp and delicious glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The goal is to celebrate the rich history of French cuisine - showcasing the food along with an upbeat and fun-loving attitude.

DW French’s atmosphere marries contemporary aesthetics with design elements reminiscent of a classic French brasserie. The restaurant features a 16-seat bar with an extensive list of cognac, classic cocktails, and French wines. A 30-seat covered patio extends is perfect to take in the energy of Boylston St.

This was a choice that everybody was happy with for a celebratory dinner. Not haute cuisine, but solid bistro food and welcome. I think that if they can keep a consistent level of food and service they'll be successful -- deservedly so.

Our appetizers of onion soup and escargot delicious! Mussels entree was fabulous-fries piled high and crispy, mussels were large and plump and the broth was delicious! There was an issue with the trout almandine and the manager was extremely accommodating! Chocolate pot de creme for dessert divine. Great food. Can't wait to go back!

We had a great dinner at DW French last night as we celebrated my daughter’s graduation. Loved the decor and atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and made excellent recommendations. Cocktails and wine were perfect. We ordered a variety of menu items… all were delicious! We truly enjoyed our evening! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

A good restaurant except for the fact that the service was unusually slow. It took over 20 minutes for us to get our cocktails after we ordered them, and we were unable to order them until we had been seated for well over 15 minutes. I don't know if they were short-staffed that night, and if this was unusual for them, or whether this is the usual pattern of service. Also, we ordered steak frites. The steak was excellent, tender, and tasty, but the frites were not the frites we were used to (skinny and crispy), but rather large soggy fries. There was no salt on the table, and we had to ask twice to get the salt. I would go back and give them another chance, but if I have the same experience with regard to service, I won't set foot in there again.

Disappointing experience on Mother’s Day. Service was at first good but then was very slow. It took forever for our drinks to come. Crab cake was delicious. Appreciated the server taking care to address a food allergy. But then the steak frites were not cooked properly. Not seared and overcooked. Then our server clearly had too many tables and we waited nearly 30 minutes to get his attention for the check. He was very nice and offered dessert on the house but by then it was too late, we just wanted to leave. Disappointing experience for the cost. $250 with tip for 4. Ouch.

The wait staff was terrible. Inattentive and ignored us. That’s why my railing was low. The food was good bistro food but the exwas totally spoiled by the poor service.

I've always wanted to try this place I'm excited to find it was finally open for lunch! Although we were the only ones in the restaurant it took an oddly long amount of time for anyone to wait on us, we actually had to ask somebody to come and take our order. We ordered the Croque Madame which we assumed was one of house specialties and it was one of the most unappealing sandwiches I've ever had. The ham was hard as a very hard to bite through, the bread was way too thick and there was almost no gruyere cheese at all. (one of the most defining features of this sandwich). The restaurant itself and the atmosphere was truly Divine we were just very disappointed with our meal.

As a relative newcomer to French Cuisine, I was absolutely blown away by the food at D.W. French. The cocktails were beautifully balanced. The chicken liver pate in the charcuterie board was the smoothest I've ever had. The trout almondine was perfectly crispy and I would happily bathe in the sauce. Dessert wise, the creme brulee genuinely made me pause and savor just how good it was. Excellent service that made a good birthday great. Would highly recommend.

Not a very appealing menu to my mind. Food was OK, service was great, but the place was empty. Old fashioned French food with nothing inventive.

Excellent food and service. Music detracted from the atmosphere. Why doesn't a French bistro play French music? Also, wine pours are very inconsistent. My husband was very short poured by the server.

Some of the best French food I’ve had anywhere! The poutine is phenomenal. The French Onion Soup is fantastic. The Croque Madame is better than most in Paris (seriously!) The Lobster Roll is delicious and a generous portion. And, the drinks are inventive and well priced.

This is a lovely hidden gem in the Fenway! Yummy French food and great service. You should go there before a game at Fenway Park or just to enjoy the newest option in the neighborhood!

Food was sensational. Best steak frites in the city. Music/ambiance was on point and Bill, our server was very accommodating and really took ownership of making sure we had a great experience.

We went for brunch. Very good selections. It was great to be spared a menu with 2 dozen selections. I had the french toast which was delicious and unlike any other french toast i have had. Bravo

I really wanted to love this place as Mida is regular go to for me but this French endeavor falls short of this great chef’s abilities. We had 7 appetizers and 2 entrees for our party of 4. I think we were wowed by only the chicken. Everything else was good but I can’t imagine recommending them. Cocktails (we had the Frenchie Martini and the Oui Senor) were expensive but that was expected; wine selection was good.

Service was a bit uneven/iffy. Food was good but my husband’s brunch was supposed to come with a salad and came with frites…and no one checked back for us to mention this to.

Excellent service, cocktails, food and ambience. We tried a variety of things and all were well seasoned and thoughtfully prepared. The salmon rillette, frenchish martini, moules frites, and crème brûlée were highlights. Fun decor too!

We enjoyed our evening and food very much. The space definitely has the feel of a French brasserie. Our server was friendly and accommodating. I would recommend the Frissee salad and the steak. Several nearby diners seemed to be enjoying the onion soup and mussels. We will be back.

We were here during restaurant week and 2 of our party of 6 ordered off that menu. Great value! All of the food was excellent from French classics to the burger to a pasta dish from the MIDA menu. Nice drinks, really good service. I think our table may be the worst in the place so I wouldn’t sit there again but otherwise a great restaurant.

This was our first time at the restaurant. The staff were cheerful, helpful and usually available. The drinks and wine menu was somewhat limited (although a somewhat long list of French wine by the bottle). No half bottles of wine available. The food choices were a bit limited and the prix fixe dinner option did not include one of their more appealing entrees. Prices were a little high compared to the food quality (which was not bad).

DW French is superb. Tried it for an early brunch today, and we didn’t know what to expect. Behind that black leather tufted door is where the magic happens. On the menu, the French breakfast seemed simple/basic. It was anything but - sheer pleasure. And along with a perfect tea mocktail, I couldn’t ask for more. Can’t wait to go back. Douglass Williams is a true chef/restaurateur. Au revoir pour maintenant (mais nous reviendrons!)

Everything here was good -- the drinks, food, service and desserts. But there was just something about the vibe there...maybe the wrong music, but despite the good food and sizable portions, we just didn't love it. Feng shui? I don't know. Go for the food and see for yourself if you can figure out what is missing.
