Opened in 2010, Dunyā is designed and created by chef & owner Coskun Abik. Dunyā Restaurant has garnered local acclaim as a Mediterranean casual dining experience touched by the fusion of refined urban technique and culturally traditional flavors.

Offering fare inspired by fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients, Dunyā brings this same delicate balance to a new era of vibrant Mediterranean dishes in an industrial chic setting located in the heart of San Francisco’s Nob Hill District.

The décor captures the warmth and feel of Mediterranean hospitality, while a vast floor to ceiling array of local and imported wine bottles is illuminated by blown glass filament pendants, inviting guests to pull up a chair to the full service wine bar.

1st time there. Small, casual restaurant with good food. Local neighborhood . The server was great with recommendations and very attentive. The hummus was extra flavorful and obviously a regulars favorite.. I’ll be interested in going again and trying more selections. Looks like a great bar if you want that too.

This place was fine. We were able to make a reservation which is nice. The staff was friendly if not super attentive (we had to ask for the check). The food was good and came quickly. We ordered the Kale salad which was quite good and a good sharing size. We also got the dolmades which were just average (not bad, but not a lot of flavor). For our main meal we ordered the mixed grill which was a nice size to share. Everything was cooked fine (the chicken was a little 'over') it just lacked flavor overall. No idea if they have desserts because we weren't offered any and then we had to ask for the check and head out to our show. The atmosphere was good (if a little dark), the food was fine, and the prices were decent. If someone suggested we go there again I'd be fine with that, but I probably wouldn't recommend it since there are so many other options to try in SF (or even just on Polk street).

We had a great meal at Dunya! The food was delicious and flavorful and the service was friendly. Atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Sometimes mediterranean restaurants have huge, bland portions, but that was not at all the case here. Really well done and enjoyable. I had the grape leaves and the shrimp skewers with the side veggies and rice. Yum!

Great first time experience. Good and reasonably priced wine. Small plates and mezze are good. Entrees are a little expensive but also quite tasty. Great hosts and feels authentic!

Great experience as always. Booked a table for the new year eve and it was a really good choice. Nice ambiance, fast service and delicious food- all you need for a dinner with friends. If you like Greek cuisine I recommend to give this place a try!

What a charming little restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The staff were sweet. We had a lovely dinner. I just told a friend it was the best falafel I’ve had in a long time. Great to meet friends for a meal.

Was craving Mediterranean and ended up here on a chilly SF night. Parking was easy. Greeted and immediately seated. The vibe is warm and relaxing, think date night. I liked that every server was your server- great suggestions and never had to look for service as they are all very attentive. It was near closing time and you weren’t hurried out. Love the wine, the food and service.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, SPECIALLY IF YOU’RE A WOMAN DINNING ALONE!! The food was okay, lacked seasoning. However, the worst part of my meal was the service. One of the cooks sent me a dessert I didn’t order and then came to my table to flirt. I was very polite and refused to give him my number but he kept insisting and trying to say that I was there for a few nights only and I should give it to him. The conversation made me extremely uncomfortable. The waiters didn’t help and even brought him wine so he drank it next to me. I payed for a meal, not a unrequested date. Men should learn about consent and the staff should know how to respect boundaries.

NYE at Dunya was a good experience. The food and wine were fantastic, and the ambiance is great. Would definitely come back here. Tried a variety of apps- meat balls, shrimp, octopus, burrata, and a couple sides and every one I would order again. The shrimp, meatballs and tzatziki were top. Only reason for the 4 stars is they were very strict about table timing on NYE and it felt a bit rushed. We ordered a bunch of apps for dinner and they brought them out all at the same time- to our small 2 person table. Spreading them out to at least 2 servings would have been ideal. I would have understood the rush if it were packed but there were open tables and no wait the whole time we were there. We felt rushed and were done in about 45 minutes from the time we arrived. They allowed 90 minutes per table so it would have be nice to enjoy a meal like that a little less rushed. But we will chalk that up to NYE rush, and all and all it was great and we will be back!
