The menu for the buffet was outstanding. The room set for dining was also very lovely and comfortable. Wait service was staffed sufficiently for the number of parties and guests. Sauces, condiments, desserts and alternative drinks were available upon request.

The hostess was a bit surly when we checked in. The main dining room has a great atmosphere. The food was fine. I haven’t had to salt a steak in a while, like never, but the strip was pretty bland. The waiter was nice and fairly attentive, but the bar service was attrocious. The first round took about 30 minutes, 2 glasses of wine and a manhattan. Second round of 2 glasses of wine never arrived. Ate the whole meal without it. The food was fine, no one was overwhelmed and wanted to go back.

We were seated early, that was nice. We were a large party of 9, no drinks ordered from the bar, and we were respectful of how busy it was for a Saturday night. However, not all of our tapas came out at the same time. Service was slow, we had to track down someone to get more water. The food quality, for the price, was terrible. The posole tasted/smelled like wet pet food. While the steaks were cooked to the preferred temperature for everyone, they were heavily salted. Sides were incorrect/incomplete. They were fast to provide the check. Gratuity was added because of 9 people, maybe that's why the service was slow? Gratuity, the overpriced "gift" we were forced to give. If you have time and money to burn and don't mind terrible service and food, this is the place to patron.

We are in our second year of marriage. Each year was celebrated at the Double Eagle with nothing but happy memories. We have decided to make it our go-to place from now on. Great food, service and ambiance.

A beautiful, old, building with several different dining areas with different themes. A visual experience as much as a fine dining experience. Excellent meals reasonably priced for a high end restaurant. Outstanding venue for special occasions from romantic anniversary dinners to large family reunions. Highly recommend it.

As always our visit was impeccable! We enjoy visiting the Double Eagle due to the fact the building was constructed in 1849 and the food is the best in all of Las Cruces! The decor is also amazing. We walk through history each time we visit. I worked for Robert Anderson who was involved in breathing life back into the restaurant back in the seventies. I admired the gentleman, respected him as well as a result of working for him. I knew the moment when this was brought to my attention I was drawn to the restaurant for life. We realize that so much history exists each time we visit the facility and surrounding area. I pray the restaurant stays intact so we can enjoy fine dining at its best in Las Cruces.

One of the most disappointing dining experiences in many years. From the metallic tasting traditional Magarita to a main course of Chicken Marsala that was devoid of taste to a store-bought (and a not very good one at that) slice of Pecan Pie this was an unmitigated disaster. The main course seemed to be totally devoid of any spices: salt, pepper, mushrooms, or any of the traditional ingredients one would expect. It was simply a grilled chunk of chicken sitting on a bed of thin spaghetti and covered in a tasteless, white sauce of unknow origin. I’m afraid the Double Eagle has rested on its historical laurels for far too long. The eye candy of the décor is no substitute for a top-notched dining experience, especially with the prices they demand. Way over-priced, over-hyped and sorely in need of a chef’s touch in the kitchen.

The waiter Gabriel was outstanding. You could not ask for better service. I would have rated our experience 5 stars except for the fact the mashed potatoes and green beans were barely warm along with the meat. You folks need to find some way to assure the food is hot when it arrives on the table, not just warm. That was the only item we had to complain about.

Hidden gem! Great ambience! Excellent wait staff! This was our first visit but we will definitely return! Dinner for 2. We had a cheese board (charcuterie, nosh or whatever) and petite filets.

My second time in less than a month visiting and I absolutely love it here. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly. We ordered off of the Peppers menu because of the time, great selection for everyone including my 9 year old. The food tasted delicious, we all loved what we ordered. I love the ambiance.

Cool old place! The food was SO disappointing. We really wanted to like it. Our waiter was great. I would suggest going in and having a drink at the bar and exploring the place. Don't bother spending money on dinner or appetizers!!!!

Overall a very enjoyable evening. The room we were in was quite warm. One of the meals was incorrect, they did offer to rectify but by the time it would have been ready everyone else would have been done eating.

We had heard that this restaurant had lost some of its excellence. But our experience was great. The steaks ( rib eye and petit filet). We’re cooked perfectly. Jaden did a great job with service - attentive but not over the top. I’ll definitely go back.

Beautiful place. Not very well executed concept. Service was lacking, had multiple hiccups. Not worth the cost, many more restaurants that will provide superior personalized service. I believe they are too comfortable.

I can’t tell you how the food was since we never got any… I can tell you the experience stunk. The house was packed with frowns and complaints. People were complaining about the wait, quality and temperature of the food to which no manager ever addressed (that we saw). Waiter wouldn’t allow us to order all our food and were told we could only order appetizers first and then eventually, I suppose, order the main course. After waiting 30 minutes for appetizers we pulled the plug. I’ve had bad meals before but I’ve never seen an entire restaurant full of unhappy faces - a product of snotty hostesses and helpless wait staff coupled with slow, cold and missing food. It was a train wreck. So before our night spiraled into bad food and a big check, we left and got a burger.

This was a disappointing evening! The kitchen was unable to deliver on the prefix menu offered for the evening. The menu advertised a butter, lettuce, salad, and a wedge of head lettuce was delivered. My wife and I ordered the fillet medium it was supposed to have a bacon wrap with crab topping. It came with the bacon on the side and no crab topping our steaks were delivered Pittsburgh rare and sent back. They returned totally charred. The manager could not have been more polite or apologetic, and she saved the evening, our server, though pleasant, was a bit in over his head for fine dining. The space is absolutely gorgeous. The wine list is comprehensive and reasonably priced. It seems that the double eagle is plagued by the same issue plaguing many restaurants and unreliable workforce.

Our Server, Gabe, by a stroke of luck was our Waiter again since our dinner Anniversary celebration in November 2023. Gabe, once again, outdid himself by impressing us with his fantastic service. He took care of all our needs when requested. Gabe's tips were over the top since he impressed my wife with his care. She is tough to please when it comes to restaurant waiters. Give him a big pat on his back for making our evening, once again, a memorable one. The dinner menu for Valentine's Day was excellent!! We will be back for our next celebration. We enjoy your cuisine regularly. You are at the top of our list of restaurant dining! Thank you!

One of New Mexico's most exquisite restaurants. Delicious food, high-end service and a gorgeous historic setting. My only complaint is that I booked a specific room but they tried to seat me in a different room, saying it was "the same." No, the rooms are not the same, which is the whole point of going to this restaurant time and time again.

It took the Double Eagle an hour and a half to present our seated party of three with dinner. Some of it was great, but much of it was pretty bad. We picked this spot for my wife’s birthday, and it was a huge let-down. I am left thinking that we really should not return, and that makes me sad. We were seated quickly for our 6:15 PM reservation, but service was extremely slow. The appetizers we ordered were great, but the entrees took over an hour to show up, and those included a very fishy-tasting Sea Bass absent the sauce and capers it was supposed to have, and two wildly-overcooked steaks. The clearly-very-inexperienced manager told us how to apply a small cup of congealed stuff with three capers in it that was supposed to fix the fish, and took back the steaks. After another 20-minute wait, we got one steak cooked as requested (medium rare) and another that was just a hair past completely raw. By then the side-dishes were getting cold and we were very hungry, so we all finished eating what we could, paid our check and left. Recognizing that we had had a very bad experience, the waiter did what he could, and got a couple of entrees taken off of our bill. I left a pretty good tip, in the end. I don't think the current mess at the Double Eagle is the wait staff’s fault. I had been offered any reservation slot from 6:15 or later, for that night, and clearly the Double Eagle had the tables, but didn’t have the staff to serve our small party. In addition, whoever is acting as head chef now clearly has a very low bar for quality. The Double Eagle used to be pretty awesome, IMO. I am not sure what has gone wrong but I won’t be tempted to try it again, especially for a special occasion, any time soon.

We were seated 45 mins before our bottle of wine arrived. Wine list not accurate - were out of the three different bottles I tried to order. Finally just brought me what they had available. Food order placed then 1:15 into seating they come out and say we are out of what you ordered. Ridiculous. Food quality was average. My steak was perfect but the scallops were overcooked as was the duck. They did comp the appetizer and a desert without me asking to do so which was appreciated but the meal experience was a total cluster. A night out should be relaxing and not aggravating. On the plus side our server was a trooper in continuously bringing the bad news. He was the only positive thing about the evening.

The appetizer could have been cooked a little more to make them crispy. My wife’s dinner should have at least come with a side salad and maybe a piece of bread or garlic toast since it was a pasta dish. But other than that, her dish and mine were delicious. I did the steak and baked potato and she had the green chile chicken alfredo.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Our server was so nice and they even remembered it was my birthday! We definitely enjoyed the food and the ghost room!

Our server was great the food was not really warm it was almost cold to meet we got the steaks and I was not impressed at the way that they came out they weren't warm at all the bread was stale the person backing up the waiter ignored me about my water and everything else I was truly disappointed for the $180 we spent

Looooved the food. I ordered Avocado toast, and in my party other people ordered huevos rancheros and Hamburger. All of us loved it. The waiter was very friendly and prompt with orders. Love the ambiance, the house is beautifully kept.
