The truth is, you don't become a Louisiana favorite just by putting the word "authentic" on your sign. When you've served Cajun meals as long as we have, you learn the difference between real food and a bland imitation, and our guests know it too. Mary Beth was an excellent waitress. She checked on us frequently and served us well. The restaurant recognized us for celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary with a complimentary dessert and cocktail. We had a wonderful lunch and a great celebration.

They were able to accommodate 17 of us in between soccer games. Everything was great. No problems, service was excellent, quality food, and good prices!

The food is mediocre at best. Large menu with mostly off-putting flavors or just bland, particularly the shrimp and gumbo. I’m a food snob and often eat at high end restaurants so I wasn’t expecting much when I saw the place. It failed to even deliver my low expectation. Unsure what the specialty really was, but the place was busy so some folks must like it. The wooden benches were painful seating so that no doubt added to my displeasure. Ordering wine was an ordeal as it became clear quickly the waitress knew nothing about wine and was unsure how to say the names or place an order.

We come here for all of our family celebrations. This time, we came to celebrate my Brother’s birthday. The food was amazing. We had fried catfish, fried shrimp, the shrimp dinner, a ribeye, salads and several other dishes. All of us left with our palates pleased and to go plates. Definitely try the chargrilled oysters. They are the best in Louisiana, and I live in New Orleans. Everyone here is amazing, but if Gavin is there, ask for him. He was super attentive to our table, gave our family a truly wonderful experience and treated our 92 year old grandmother extra special. What a super guy and server.

My wife and I treated our elderly lady friend to celebrate her birthday. Kelsie, our waitress was very attentive and courteous. She served our birthday friend’s bread pudding dessert and made it complimentary. Food was served hot, delicious and delivered in a very timely manner. We all really enjoyed our dining experience at Don’s.

Lunch was Delicious food with a great server, Harleigh. I recommend the seafood gumbo one I the best I ever had. Boudin balls made an awesome appetizer and of course one can’t go wrong ordering the seafood plate. We completed that with the white chocolate bread pudding and coffee which both were excellent!

The waitress was nice and very apologetic. Unfortunately the food took forever. Everyone did not receive their meals at the same time and by the time they were all brought everyone else finished eating. We were seated in a room that had five tables and were the first seated and last to leave. Two of the other tables were the same size party as ours so I’m not sure what was going on. It’s very unfortunate that we had this experience because we’ve eaten at the Gonzales location multiple times and were pleased each time.

The location was hard to find from I-10. Had to take a couple of detours to get there. The grilled oysters were great, a little gritty. Shucker needs to rinse really well before opening. I sat at the bar as it was a late lunch and there was distancing. Bartender was obviously very experienced. I didn't have a cocktail but coffee was perfect. I had a salad with shrimp, greens were fresh. Would go back if I was in the neighborhood. Keep up the good work.

My sister and brother-in-law, both born and raised in South Louisiana, currently live in Dallas, and came down on business. They wanted a GOOD south Louisiana mean. Don's did not disappoint us.

Be sure to get reservations in early on Monday so you can get on their waiting list. I assumed a reservation set our table for that time, but that wasn’t true. That’s when my name was placed on the list. Overall, great food and awesome service

One of best restaurants in Hammond. The entire meal was incredible. Every bite was delicious. Start with the fried crab claws. They are to die for in foodie heaven!
