Dolce Italia was established in 2010 by Tiziana Di Costanzo who came from Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples. Using a combination of classic Italian dishes, family recipes passed down for generations, and warm hospitality, Dolce Italia has built a reputation in Sarasota as a destination for anyone seeking great food and ambiance. In 2015 Matthew joined as manager of the front of house and is now a managing partner of Dolce Italia. The kitchen staff trained by Tiziana from the beginning are still with the restaurant with Maria being the capocuoco.
Some of the specialities Dolce Italia has become famous for are the Napoletan Eggplant- a tender sautee eggplant with fresh tomatoes crowned with ricotte, the Trenne Dolce Italia- the signature pasta dish with creamy tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and mushroom.

Love the food and the service but I don’t like the smell when you open the door and walk into the dining area. They should do something about the funny smell, to me and my husband smell moldy and for us first impression counts a lot.

Mathew is an outstanding host and owner. A sign of a great restaurant is one that will make an order that a customer requests if not on the menu. This is the second time Mathew and the chef accommodated us and we are grateful. I highly recommend Dolce Italia!

This Restaurant is truly outstanding and very underrated - the service is incredible - the owner is extremely attentive and the food is over the top amazing - different and unusual combinations - not your typical boring Italian food - love love love this place - cannot say enough positive things about it!!

Had outstanding a 5:45 reservation on Saturday with my son in from Atlanta. We were seated promptly in an almost filled restaurant. We greeted immediately by our waiter. We decided our food options. I ordered Caesar Salad with white anchovies! Split it with my son. Outstanding! He had linguini fruit de mare full of big chunks of seafood. He said it was delicious. I had penne bolognese which is a go to dish for me. The best I ever had! I forgot to mention that the bread was warm and served quickly! Great experience.

Dolce Italia is one of our favorite restaurants in Sarasota! We always look forward to eating there every year. Love the Trenne pasta with sausage. The sauce is spectacular. The restaurant may be tiny but the ambience is mighty!

Matthew was beyond welcoming calling us by name. Great way to start our evening. The Brussel sprout appetizer was uniquely spectacular. For entrees we all got the Trenne two of us with meatballs and two with sausage. Will definitely go back next year.

Extraordinary service and even better food. The owner and wait staff were amazing in accommodating our large group from out of town. The delicious bread and olive oil set the tone for a special evening. We will be back in a few months for another visit.

Matthew and his staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is hearty, plentiful and delicious. Have been coming to this restaurant since 2017 and have never had a bad meal or unpleasant experience.

We have been coming here for years multiple times a year and always enjoy. I think the food has had a slight decline, still good but on par with other Italian places when it used to be superior. The service is always outstanding. Overall would highly recommend.

Never a disappointment. Took the family including a one year old to this restaurant. Friendly staff; service was wonderful. We all had the house specialty, trenne pasta. The sauce was delicious… not marinara… closer to a vodka sauce. The bread was fresh and served warm. For dessert try the decadent chocolate vesuvius with ice cream. Chocolate lovers won’t be disappointed.
