Aptly named for its marina-facing, bayfront locale at the Bahia Resort Hotel and the year that the resort opened, Dockside 1953 is a stunning standout sure to invigorate San Diego’s dining scene. Fresh, coastal-inspired, and locally sourced -- our eclectic menu of California fare features dishes to satisfy all palates. With a dedication to high-quality ingredients, menu highlights include butterscotch banana French toast and chilaquiles for breakfast, rockfish ceviche’ and a selection of flatbreads for lunch, pan-seared seabass and steak frites au poivre for dinner, and a thoughtful wine and cocktail menu. My family and I dined inside the Dockside 1953. The menu is amazing. We shared the seafood tower, along with some inspirational house cocktails that was delicious. Everyone shared each other’s entrees because they all were very enticing. Restaurant tip: make reservations early to dine out on the patio. Some tables have fire pits that add to the ambiance.

Chef and wait staff were fantastic. Chef came out to ensure we were enjoying everything. Even brought out a special dessert for the grumpy 6 year old with us. Hah! Great service, as always. Wine… food… experience- it was all absolutely lovely!

We really enjoyed ourselves such friendly nice people there. The workers are all really good and knowledgeable about things around the area. There’s a few times we could’ve been checked on for the heat on the fire and the food was OK. The Caesar salad could’ve used some more vegetables on it maybe some cherry tomatoes. I usually just order when I’m familiar with maybe I should try something different next time, but the atmosphere makes up for any of the food deficits.

I'm literally flabbergasted that this restaurant is so highly rated. We waited for an hour for our food which was lukewarm. The poached egg was so overdone it was hardboiled. We asked them to remake our cold food and they charged us for both meals.They ended up taking it off our bill but it never should have come to us that way. Nice location and pretty view but just an average, if that, dining experience.

I have lived in San Diego my entire live and this was or first time visiting this restaurant. The food was really good I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a better ribeye steak. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. I’ll definitely be back!

The live music and the assortment of foods was outstanding and my whole family had something to enjoy! I particularly loved the ahi tuna and seafood options and the desserts were impeccable!

The food was average - fish tacos and a tuna melt. Service was ok, had to walk to the bar to get a water refill as server was not around. Beautiful setting and marina view. $20 price per person which is very fair for such an expensive area. Go for the view and be happy with good but unremarkable food.

Service was atttentive. Food was surprisingly good. Place is a hotel restaurant and people are casual despite high prices. We were overdressed! It’s beachy casual. People walk in in shorts for dinner. Lamb meatballs were delicious. Bread service didn’t need to be $10 loaf of seeded bread. It’s not that good. French bread would be better- meatballs could use it. Daughter had a birthday and they brought a chocolate dessert. Nice touch. Overall, nice place. Random spot with good views of marina.

Perfect location to have a cocktails/dinner while watching the sun set. Food was excellent, high quality with great presentation. The chef came out and made sure we enjoyed everything. Service was excellent. There is glass surrounding the outside patio so wind/sand are not an issue. The firepits are cozy and large enough to use as the table. Great food, service and location. Highly recommend.

Was excited to try a new spot and went for restaurant week with cocktail pairing, and would not recommend it here- had a comically skimpy tuna crudo appetizer accompanied by some watered down cocktails. Mains were okay, nothing to write home about (had the salmon and steak), again cocktails were weak but the salmon paired one was flavorful. Sorbet was chalky and our third cocktail never came. The atmosphere/views on the patio were lovely. Perhaps their regular menu is a better offering/value. Would not eat here again.

Good meal during restaurant week. Food - Very Good Service - Mediocre during a not so busy time Ambiance - Very nice They would have had a bigger bill for us if they just paid attention. That’s probably $25 or so for a couple of additional drinks but instead we just left.

One of the worse meal I had in a long time I had the meat balls which by themselves were good but the gravy was pretty bad. Second, the shrimp arrabiata pasta dish was overcooked pasta and they put a similar gravy that is not arrabbiata.

An amazing dinner, and a wonderful server named Melanie. Attentive, professional and friendly without being obsequious. Lovely setting with fire tables and view of the water and boats. The french fries were excellent, brussels sprouts were divine-smokey bacon flavor-, Seabass and lemon cheese risotto was delicious. Definitely will go again. Highly recommend.

My out town family and I dined at this restaurant for the 1st time and we were blown away. We loved that we were greeted at the front door, told about the different menus that were available, even given a choice of sitting inside or outside near the fire pits. Our waiter was kind and gentle with us, explained the specials of the night and asked if any allergies. We ordered New England clam chowder, which was delicious, and waiter recommended. The rest of the dinner was The atmosphere was very warming and inviting, and we’d definitely would recommend this restaurant has a go to if in the San Diego area.

Last night of vacation. This restaurant has excellent food, great service and a beautiful view. We ate outside, at a fire pit table. Our server Kerry, was kind and friendly. We'll be back!

Food was good- we did get sat next to a big party that was trying to talk over each other. But overall we enjoyed the beautiful views. Would go back!
