Desperados Mexican Restaurant has been serving Dallas area residents real dishes from the heart of Mexico and traditional Tex-Mex favorites for more than 40 years. Desperados’ landmark status has been achieved through the determination and vision of Jorge Levy who, along with two partners, opened the doors to the now historic Greenville Avenue location in 1976.

This family is very passionate about what they do and that passion is evident throughout many aspects of their business. However it is the recipes that have elevated Desperados to its status as a Delicious Dallas Original. The menu is large, sampling much of the culinary diversity of Mexico. “We were one of the first to ever serve Ceviche,” Jorge boasts. And with award winning specialties like the delicious Guacamole, tangy Steak Argentina, world famous Desperados Tacos and a Terlingua Champion Chili you are sure to find something scrumptious.

Reservations worked well and kept us from a 30 minute or longer wait. Immediate and friendly service. Owner also came around serving not just asking how the meal was - which was a nice touch in showing care of his family restaurant. We will be back!

Very well attended by our server and the chef created a guacamole dip without cilantro for my party, just by asking! Food was definitely authentic, drinks were great as well, making it an overall fabulous experience. We would definitely return for another fantastic experience.

I've been coming to this little hideaway for years. Clean and cozy. Being able to visit and dine is what makes this place the tops. Most other restaurants of this caliber are rushed and LOUD. If you would like to catch up or get to now somebody over diner, this is the place. The service and food have never disappointed me.

We have been going to Desperados for many years. We are never disappointed. Desperados Tacos are the best! The crabmeat enchiladas are to die for! It is always such a pleasure to see and speak with Jake as he checks on all his patrons. We live in Plano and make the trip to Dallas as often as possible to enjoy an evening with our La Margaritas. We can never move too far away because life without Desperados is unimaginable!

We have had many menu items since we started going to Desperados in 2009. The Desperado Tacos are great as are the La Margaritas. The Crabmeat Enchiladas and any of the Chicken or Steak specialty dishes are amazing.
