Desi Contemporary Indian Casual is a modern casual Indian restaurant in Bay Area featuring Cal Indian Food. Our flavors are firmly rooted in Indian food with influences from around the world, resulting in adventurous, delicious dishes. We believe that the world's cuisines are more similar than different, and celebrate how various signature dishes, worlds apart, have striking similarities. We started in December 2019 in San Jose, California. Our primary location is in Campbell between Pruneyard restaurants and Downtown Campbell, California. Our craft cocktail program at Gabru Bar is designed to compliment your mood, offering a variety of delicious options to pair with how you’re feeling. We went with the family (in-laws and adult daughter. We ordered and shared several small plates. Everything was delicious and delivered promptly. The cocktails were excellent but did seem to take a long time. The dishes were interesting and eclectic Indian takes on food types: lamb pate in a cutlet, tandoori chicken bruschetta, and breaded fish with red wine vinaigrette. There were some delicious standards like tiki masala with fresh naan. Overall, the tastes were fantastic, the service busy and hectic, the environment loud, and the meal enjoyable.

The staff are so enthusiastic and attentive. They really made us feel at home. We enjoyed the new and deconstructed take on Indian spices and dishes. We will go again!

Great vegan option. They don't spare the spice! Yum. Dining companion broke a sweat and liked the meal very much. Garlic naan should be offered with levels of garlicky- ness. Chai was yummy.

It was my husband’s birthday. I booked this place based on the ratings and I was not disappointed. The food was excellent and service ( thanks Sandeep) exceptional. I do wish the noise level was a notch lower. Overall we had a great time!

Great update to traditional Indian flavors in New compositions. Strongly recommend the appetizer flights. If you haven't tried it and you like comfort food, novel, delicious cuisine, friendly and non-pushy staff, and a quality dining experience, Desi is a great place.

Went there for a birthday celebration, the ambience was nice and the staff were friendly. But the service was really slow. Cocktails were too sweet for my liking. Overall a decent place to try in Campbell.

1) we tried this restaurant out, because I was advertised for 1000 points, I received 100pts. 2) The service was very sweet, but the ambience was uncomfortable! We and other guest were freezing cold. Not romantic at all. 3) We could not get the desired table in the back, because they expected a bigger party - did not show up during our stay. 4) We expected Indian food, but it was a mix with Mediterranean hommus. We decided not to come back as a couple.

Had a great team lunch. Excellent food quality and service. Healthy options and great value. Highly recommended lunch place in Bay Area.The drive was not bad either from Santa Clara and worth it. The happy hour at desi's Gabru Bar looked interesting with cocktails. Will be back.

Had a business lunch here and I'm super impressed! The service was top-notch, quick and very friendly. We tried a variety of dishes each one was full of flavor, really authentic but with a modern twist. Tried one of the cocktails which was similar to a Mojito and had some Paan(kind of a green leaf) flavors and was awesome.Something really unique in flavors and presentation. The ambiance is perfect for a professional meetup - classy but yet relaxed and great service. Definitely coming back for more!

First time at this place and based on the description we were curious to try. We came during the holidays and realize it might have impacted the experience. Multiple dishes were missing/unavailable from the menu, including some of the items we wanted to try. Staff tried to go above and beyond to compensate for it but it was still disappointing. I can’t eat very spicy food and I know that “mild” means different things in different places. At Desi, “mild” still felt very spicy for me so if you’re like me, you might want to skip. They did offer to exchange the dish but I didn’t want to wait much longer at that point.

Gabru Bar experience was fun and lively , along with tasty cocktails perfect for an enjoyable night out. It's a great new option among the downtown Campbell restaurants and bars in Campbell & San Jose area. Their fresh twist on Indian cuisine is really tasty, and the staff are friendly and make you feel at home. It's a good place for both a relaxed lunch or dinner meal and celebrating special events. I'll certainly visit again.

Really enjoyed Desi's menu and their service! It's perfectly located in downtown Campbell for a healthy lunch or a night out. The service was outstanding, which made our meal very pleasant. It's a fantastic Cal Indian choice in the Bay Area. Planning to return with some colleagues.

Fresh and exciting perspective and must visit restaurant in Campbell Downtown. Great Cocktails from Gabru Bar at desi with its street eat flights. Hospitable and quick service. Highly recommended restaurant in the bay area if you are looking for some great fusion of influences from Mexican, Italian, American and Mediterranean cuisine with Indian cuisine.

A great addition to contemporary restaurants in Campbell Downtown. Street food with global influences from different world cuisines. Its definitely more than Indian food more like modern Californian food and drinks options like Aqui in Campbell but yet unique in its own way with Indian flavors. The coastal grilled sea bass with coconut korma curry was amazing and healthy with blackened veggies and American vinegar style pickles and Rice. Cocktails are fun and paired well with the food. Try the Mango Peach Lime Mule and Royal Ginfield cocktail with fennel tonic. Ambiance is casual yet modern and the music is lounge kind. Service was prompt and efficient. A great hangout modern casual restaurant in south bay. Good for lunch or dinner. Highly Recommended.

Contemporary food, especially paired with the Gabru bar cocktails, are exceptional. Great Music and Ambiance for socializing. Overall decent service. Our go to place in the Bay Area near Campbell Downtown hanging out with friends for lunch or fun evening.

Wait staff were clearly overwhelmed (just 2 for the entire area), so service was poor. Tables and restrooms were not clean. Food was decent. So much potential, but very poor execution.

The staff were friendly and attentive, given that there were so many to go orders that night. The food was really good, loved the innovative takes on traditional Indian dishes. It was much more filling than we thought - glad we shared a few appetizers & one main dish. Going to have to come back to try out the rest of the menu.

There’s definitely potential for this place. They really tried to create a unique twist on Indian cuisine. The drinks were really good, however the food def needs improvement. All of the food came out luke warm, we asked for the chai to be brought out first, but the waiter ignored our request, the gulab jamun creme brulee was not properly made. Crème brulee is a custard made with eggs and needs to be properly cooked, this one was not and I now have excruciating pain in my stomach that won’t go away. Don’t order this if you don’t eat raw eggs. Towards the end the hostess came over and asked abt our experience since we were 1st time customers, hopefully they make some changes

Had a great time. One of the best contemporary Indian restaurants in bay area and love the cocktails from Gabru bar. Try their Rum Mojito and Old Fashioned with date syrup. Such a fun take on food and cocktails. The bruschetta bites and impossible curry big plate were great. Empanadas with cottage cheese and mushrooms were delicious too. Service was great. Staff was attentive and also brought a birthday dessert. Highly recommend this restaurant in downtown Campbell.

I am a regular here. It's one of the best restaurants in Downtown Campbell and a neighborhood favorite. They offer fusion cuisine while still maintaining authentic Indian flavors. They have healthy options for Indian lunch and dinner, and the cocktails at the Gabru Bar are a must-try. The Patiala Old Fashioned and Hacker were particularly great. In my opinion, it offers more than just Indian food. You should definitely try their Butter Chicken Tacos, Blackened Chicken Tikka, or Salmon Bowl with veggies, vinegar pickles, and relish. They call it 'Bowl Me Over' if you want to customize that dish. There are plenty of vegetarian options like Indian Street burger, and their Empanadas are the best. I was surprised to learn that Empanadas are a traditional item eaten with a sweet filling called Gujia in India. The restaurant has a fantastic vibe and concept, complete with ambiance and music. Highly Recommended for any time of the day given their menu options.
