Since it was raining, the host/hostess gave priority indoor dining seating to the outside dining reservations instead of honoring our reservation for indoor first. They tried to give us taco bar seating which we didn’t want, nor did we reserve that, and then sat us at a dining table but limited us to an hour for a bigger party to use which never showed up. They tried to tell us that everyone else made reservations weeks prior to ours and that we were the ones that were at the bottom of priority list. For our first time dining here, I will not be going back, even though my salmon salad and cocktails were quite delicious and the waitress was super nice. Everyone else in my party didn’t care for their food.

It isn’t really fair to review a restaurant during restaurant week. It seems no matter where I dine in California during restaurant weeks the front of the house is full and chronically understaffed. The place was packed. The drinks took forever and dessert was forgotten (they boxed it up for us). Service lapses aside, the staff was very friendly. The food is out of this world. We all had lobster enchiladas. Generous lobster. Sublime sauce. The starter salads were tasty with pepitas and lime. The flan also was very good. Look forward to returning when it isn’t restaurant week. The place was packed with very happy customers. The live guitar was great but our table was amp adjacent so impossible to talk. I’m sure there is an easy fix.

We were completely forgotten about. Barely checked in on, and our dessert took 40 minutes. I also watched a waitress w long blonde hair roll her eyes multiple times at guests. I asked the same blonde waitress for water as our server was no where to be found and she was already filling the tables next to us, and she hesitated like she was going to say no??? and said "um, sure" with unnecessary attitude. Food was ok, was never asked if we wanted another drink. Will not return, experience & service really ruined our date night

Drinks are mostly all ice. The bar there is consistently the slowest of any restaurant I have ever been to.

We had reservations but waited another 45 minutes for a table inside. Otherwise they were going g to seat us outside which was about 60 degrees at night. Very loud. They did comp us 2 appetizers for waiting so long but good grief that still doesn’t help when we finish with dinner at 10pm. Overall would not return. Service when we were seated was slow. Had to speak with manager a couple of times to get a server over. If you have 2.5 hours to kill and don’t mind paying $24 for 2 street tacos, this is the place for you.

It is a shame because the food was pretty good and our waitress was friendly. However, the overall service by everyone else was horrible. When they delivered the chips (which we paid for), we asked for extra salsa. The person never came back and we had to ask two more times for salsa. Ordered three drinks, they brought two…we asked another person and he said “ok”…walked away and you could tell he didn’t care. Had to ask two others for the drink. Food delivered and had to follow up about missing dishes. Then we got the bill and there were extra items charged to us. They really need a manager to properly train staff…I really liked the food though.

We went for Valentines Day and had a very romantic dinner. We sat out on the patio where there was wonderful live music that we enjoyed very much. The food was ddelicious and the service was great. We look forward to returning.

Food wasn’t really hot. It did come out really quick. The tortillas came out hot but after finishing the first one the left over tortillas were not even warm and hard. The waitress offered chips but failed to mention they weren’t included, you have to pay. Taquitos & beans had no flavor. Ordered a sangria and it just tasted like a super sweet yet watered down “juice”. Had been wanting to try this place forever and was very disappointed at the end.

This restaurant should break out reservations to indoor and outdoor seating in order to give guidance on where you will sit. If they can do it with Plancha table reservations why not make it for outdoor tables? We made a reservation and we expected to sit inside. I didn’t even know they had an outdoor area since we’ve never dinned here before. The restaurant was packed and we were forced to seat outside with a cold winter breeze. They had heaters and blankets available but it was too cold because we had kids.

Delightful and cheerful staff. Really fun and happy atmosphere. Food and drinks are delicious. Definitely a favorite place for my date and I to go out to over the weekend. Better to come in the early evening to avoid the loud noise that usually occurs in the later evening hours.

We haven't been to Descano in a few months but we were not happy tonight. The noise level was obnoxious (2 birthday parties) and, my dinner guest said a piece of meat in his steak taco was too tough to chew. :( The wait staff seemed overwhelmed and oddly, when the waiter came to take our order, he never asked if we wanted drinks; I had to flag him down to order an iced tea for me and a Coke (Pepsi?) for my guest. Not up to their usual standards. The last coupl of times we ate at Descanso, we were waited on by Brian and was sosrry to see him not there last night. I'm afraid my dinner guest will object to ever going back to Descanso. :(

Ate there on NYE. Service was very attentive. Food was prompt, nice presentation. The Elote appetizer was very good. One of the few restaurants that serve fideo, yummy. Drinks were strong and flavorful. They cook for you at certain tables, we ate at standard dining. Nice experience overall.

A female server was fixing her in the aisle to the kitchen and hope she washed her hands afterwards. She should have gone into the ladies room to do that. Food was good and enjoyed coming in. However, the table should be bigger, especially for 4 people. The fish entree takes up the entire table, doesn’t leave much room for other dishes. Keep up the good work!

We’ e been to Descano several times because the food has always been excellent. Last night’s meal was fine, but not memorable. In fact, my husband had to send his shrimp dish back because it was served cold, and my salmon taco was only lukewarm. There were fewer non-red meat or pork items on the menu. The noise level was so high that we had difficulty carrying on a conversation, and were frequently interrupted by blaring birthday music. It’s fine to make a big deal of birthdays, but the music was WAY too loud. Service was excellent. I’d give the restaurant another try in the hope this was an off night.

We were seated right away glad I made a reservation. Wait staff was very pleasant and attentive. The food was wonderful we enjoyed every bite and were very full when we left.

The hostesses here were borderline rude and kept me waiting 10 minutes past my reservation even though there were a number of empty tables outside. Seemed like they were pretty disorganized. When I was finally seated it was at a table that neither me nor my guest could move our seats at due to large umbrellas bocking the chairs. When this was pointed out the host just stood there and I had to ask for another table. The food not good the meat was tough and greesy and I found a piece of pork mixed into my steak. The only thing that was good here were the drinks and our waiter. That's more a reflection on bartender and the waiter than the restaurant.

The food was excellent. We sat at the bar so we could watch the Sunday game. The Francesca toast was to die for but there was quite a wait. They said that it’s a dish that takes a while. They comped us chips and rice and beans due to the long wait. It was a great meal regardless. We will be back for the plancha table!
