What Dear John’s is to steak, Dear Jane’s will be to seafood. Seasoned chefs and entrepreneurs Hans Röckenwagner and Josiah Citrin have teamed up again for Dear Jane's. Taking full advantage of the stunning marina view, the focus is on classic American seafood dishes prepared simply with the highest-quality ingredients by seasoned chefs. From Oysters Rockefeller to Shrimp Louie, Surf ‘n Turf and Crepes Zuzette, the menu hews to those of some of the most legendary seafood restaurants of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It will feel familiar and upscale, yet updated and approachable.

This sensibility will be on full display with hand-mixed tartare, classic caviar service, and professionally fileted whole fish. The layout of the split-level room and spacing between booths and tables are ideal for this personalized service that is begging to come back in style in this dining room.

Was an expensive breakfast/brunch. One shrimp per person is ridiculous. Should have included mimosa and desert considering the available entree selection. One roll, one shrimp, 1/3 slice of avocado toast , huevos rancheros serving one person should not cost $59 even in high end restaurant. Steak and eggs - ordered medium rare. Came rare didn’t send back because it would return medium. Meat was chewy difficult to cut. Very disappointing because my family member had dinner twice and he is a “foody” and in his opinion one of the best in the city

Mothers Day! My wife, my mother, and my son. $59 for 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and 2 slices of bacon with no champagne or mimosas is a bit much!! (Seems like a Dennys breakfast) We did get 1 shrimp, 1 muppin, and a half a slice of avocado toast a piece as a starter! But, my biggest complaint is the service! Never once did he come to check on us. Never once did he offer to refill our glass of water! When I paid the bill (with a small tip), our waiter thew the receipt on the table and walked away!! Not realizing that had planned on leaving a larger cash tip on the table! Hopefully, this wasn't because we're a family of color! BTW, the managing lady there was excellent (she gave us another round of muffins), and it is a beautiful restaurant that has an excellent location!

Exceptional food; very friendly wait staff and other personnel (chef stopped by our table, house manager checked on us to make sure everything was okay); terrific overall vibe and experience. Highly recommend. Great place to bring guests.

Yes, the food was once again delicious, most definitely. Of course the ambience was beautiful, and yes, we're looking forward to returning, more than likely for happy hour one day soon, next week perhaps. But the service this second time wasn't the most impressive...it was fair, to be honest. Lackluster, certainly nothing like the first time we dined at Dear Jane's, when our waiter was vibrant, helpful, detailed about the history of Dear Jane's and radiated loads of positive energy. Our waiter this second time seemed detached, a bit preoccupied and many times, lost in thought. He seemed to do the bare minimum as far as opening our wine & taking our order, but beyond that, he really didn't check in with us too often. We actually seemed to receive more help overall from the smiling, helpful servers than from our waiter. We reached out and asked our waiter for his name since he didn't introduce himself. We also smiled and made it a point to thank him when we DID see him, hoping that it would perhaps trigger a bit more of a friendly vibe from him. Just trying to let him know that we WERE appreciative of his service, which we hoped would inspire him to do a better job. But again, overall, he just seemed removed, not the most enthusiastic about being a waiter. He wasn't rude...not at all. He just seemed robotic almost, like an automaton, offering as little to the dining experience as possible. Perhaps he'd endured something troublesome before arriving to work, not sure. Again, we would definitely like to return soon. We're just hoping for more dining experiences with Dear Jane's that will include a consistently enthusiastic, friendly & helpful staff.

Server wasn't very warm, borderline attitude. Said they turned down music, but we didn't notice change so asked to speak with mgr, who came out also with a little attitude, like bothered and unfriendly. Food much better than last time, but very expensive for what you get. No sides with the Sea Bass, which was a small piece, but delicious sauce. Great beet salad. tasty fish and chips. very expensive! bill for 4 of us, and one shared the sea bass, came to $350 plus. one drink each.

The food at Dear Jane's lived up to the hype, sadly, the waiter didn't. He could have been having an off night, but it's sort of the difference between an amazing evening and one where you walk away wishing it was a little better. It won't keep us from going back, because the food was exceptional, but next time we might try sitting at the bar and having dinner.

Wonderful evening. Split a seafood tower for 1 and then enjoyed the lobster fra diavalo and vongole - both exquisite. Great service from Angela.

We were celebrating our one year anniversary so the manager gave us the best table. The setting is beautiful. the staff super friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious. We shared a Shrimp Louis and Mushroom truffle ravioli.

Excellent seafood in a nice setting. I can recommend the clam chowder and the sand dabs which were delicious. Great service and a nice view of the Marina too.

Been wanting to try dear John on our trip to LA but never seem to be able to squeeze it in so when I saw this being a sister Restuarant, I thought be perfect place to have brunch before flying out and sure enough it is! Being that it’s only 10/15 minutes from LAX, with valet secure parking(luggage in your car) and good food and service to go with it this will be our new go to before flying out .

Second time there and enjoyed it as much this time as before. I highly recommend the clam chowder, made Rhode Island style with lots of clams. The halibut was cooked perfectly. Will return again

Sat in bar area. I ordered a martini with extra olives. It came with a twist. The waitress took it back to the bar took the lemon peel out and put olives in instead. Of course, I told her this would not do and sent it back. That is sooo bad! We ordered a dozen clams on the half shell to start, followed by a wedge salad and a pasta dish. Unfortunately, the wedge salad came out first. A half dozen not dozen clams arrived 30 minutes later. To the restaurants credit they gave us the half dozen clams without charge.

Dear Jane's is the perfect place for a leisurely brunch. The dining room is so spacious, light and comfortable. It's quiet, which is unusual for brunch spots. The food was super yummy. I had the smoked salmon benedict and my friend had the crab cake benedict. Both were perfectly cooked and not too salty. The bloody mary is really good. For the quality of food, the prices aren't bad at all and the menu has a lot of non-seafood items for people who aren't in the mood for that. I will definitely come back soon for brunch. They treat you like you are good friends. Everyone is so gracious, relaxed and kind.

We'd tried to get to Dear Jane's a few times and we finally made it! From the moment we got out of the car everyone was nice. We were greeted at the front by a "Happy Anniversary"(the website was very specific!). It was a great night to celebrate. Our server was great and friendly. The food was very good. I got the Seafood Tower for one, my wife is a vegetarian and got her veggies. I loved what I got but it wasn't enough so I'll know for the future. The rest of the menu looked great so there are more options. We met some people who live near us and we had a great time talking to them after we finished. We didn't feel rushed to leave and we will definitely return.

When I walked into the restaurant, I was super excited. Classy place with amazing lighting. The place was full but not too loud. The linen table cloths, wide tables, and full backed chairs were perfect. Then the waiter came. He informed us that we needed to order all food at once. Ok, fine. Appetizer of calamari was delicious. The fresh baked sourdough bread-phenomenal. 45 minutes later the dinner portion came. The waiter neglected to tell us that the wagyu came with no side. So all was on the plate was steak and a dipping sauce. The waiter never returned for us to order a side. The waiter never brought a steak knife. The steak was a struggle to cut with the provided butter knife. The lobster in the lobster pasta was so overcooked that I couldn’t cut it with a fork nor the butter knife that was provided. We had to flag the waiter down for refills. And when he finally came, we were about done eating so there was no point in asking about a side for the steak for actual steak knives. Super unfortunate that the actual dinner part was the turning point for the evening. Oh. And nothing for my birthday. It was on the reservation and told to the waiter. :(

A top level restaurant with excellent food and incredible service. From the moment you are greeted and seated until the check you realize what a restaurant should be like. All four of our main dishes were great: the chick parm, ahi tuna, sea bass and fish and chips. Highly recommend!

Nice place for a special occasion. Lovely setting on the dock. Is it now customary for drinks to be charged for the alcohol and then extra for the mixing of a martini? New way to scam a surcharge. Our dinners (sand dabs, fish and chips) were very good. Side of creamed spinach okay. Brownie dessert was a dud. We left the restaurant happy but drove out of the lot upset at the $24 valet fee we had no option to pay. Bit much, don't you think?

I gave the food 3 stars as it was mixed. Salmon and ratatouille was very good- wedge salad was awful and broccolini pretty bad. The salad was drenched and swimming in so much vinegar-laden dressing. Would have been helpful if the waiter ever came back to check on us, or if the extremely rude waiter who’s attention I finally managed to get, didn’t just say, “I’m not your waiter” and scurried away. Sadly, won’t be back. Very disappointing. Bad vibe, lovely ambiance, high prices that we are willing to pay when the people working there at least pretend to care.

We really enjoyed our night at Dear Janes’s. We had a group of 8 celebrating a birthday. We had both the calamari and smoked fish appetizers, which were delicious. For entrees, I highly recommend the sea bass and the tuna. The only downside to the evening (Easter Sunday) was that they only had one dessert available from the menu. We took a dessert to celebrate the birthday, not know whether they would let us bring our own in. They did allow us since their desserts weren’t available. In addition to the food, the staff was excellent. I highly recommend the restaurant.

The manager- who is NOT Jane, was super personable and made sure that our service was excellent - so much so that we visited the bar and had an equally delightful interaction with the bartender. I couldn't recommend this restaurant/bar/speakeasy more for a nice lunch, delicious dinner and a great bar with yacht music and show tunes! The food was exceptionally delicious and my only complaint was that the Flaky butters were limited - we could have eaten a ton!

The ambience is excellent. Service was good at the beginning then our waiter seemed to disappear. The food was okay and certainly not worth the price. The drinks were delightfully strong!

Great experience- except service was slow but servers were otherwise great. Would appreciate faster service we were left for some time throughout evening with no one checking in us when needed assistance - causing us on three occasions to go seek help who. Then took some time to get. Ambience and food and attitudes of staff terrific.

Delicious fish pate, crab toast and sand dabs. Service was excellent and loved the space. They were having a private party also and still the service was quick and efficient. We will be back when back in LA.

The food is excellent, but i have never been so rushed at a restaurant in my life. Do not come here for a special occasion. Or a regular occasion. The staff is rude and inhospitable.
