On the ground floor of the LINE Hotel —A cocktail bar celebrating the rich Asian culture and history of San Francisco, Dark Bar is our tenebrous nook on the lobby level.

The spirit list is sourced from Asia and Southeast Asia, the service features a table-side highball cart, and the cocktail menu puts fresh seasonal elements in league with preserved and fermented ingredients, designed by bar maestro Danny Louie. Small bites, substantial and vegetarian-focused, are also on offer. In the dark, take a transformative journey through the present and into the preservation of the past.

the great Line Hotel front desk told us that Tenderheart had closed 2/14! They sent us upstairs to the Rise Above bar, which did its best to accommodate us. Weird that Open Table didn't know about this.

I would recommend Tenderheart even though our dinner did not go as planned. There was a mix-up in the kitchen and we didn't get our entrees. By the time they realized the problem it was too late to fix it and for us to get to the theater on time. That said, what we had was very good. It's a lovely room. Things were a bit disjointed but the staff was very friendly. The manager comped our whole bill (drinks, appetizers, dessert). That was unnecessary but a very nice and appreciated gesture. We will go back. It's a welcome addition to a troublesome area in the City.

Whole sea bass for two was well prepared and delicious. Service was off. Waited 1/2 hour for drinks - was told our ticket got misplaced. They did comp us our drinks tho.

THe restaurant was listed as an Asian restaurant but it is not. The menu is small but the food was very good and enjoyed a nice fish dish.

Had a great dinner before a show at The Warfield. Our server was great, asked what time we needed to be out the door for the show and managed the food service really well. There was a great deal on a 3-course meal for the table (shared starters and individual entrees & desert) but given time constraints we went ala carte. All the dishes were really good, the beef dumplings being the least appreciated. The burger is a good deal (and tasty!) at $18, the wild mushrooms were delicious, chicken wings were great, little gems salad and the burrata were really good as well. Highly recommended for a meal close to the theatres. There are plenty of seats at the bar and along the kitchen so a walk-in is a good option.

Great restaurant with amazing cocktails! Get the wings you won’t be disappointed. The only downside is the place was pretty empty so the ambience was a little quiet. Hope more people discover this place!!

The restaruant had a great romantic ambience. The service was outstanding and the servers checked to see if we had a concert to run to. The cocktails were fun and tasted great, but I thought the food was just okay. The tuna tartare was fresh and my favorite dish of the night. The brussel sprouts started off crispy, but at the bottom of the bowl, they became soggy and unbelievably salty. I found the beef dumplings and mushroom rice to be fine, but nothing special.

Booked a reservation to take my parents to dinner ahead of a play at the Orpheum. At the beginning of the meal our server asked what time we would ideally like to finish dinner to make our play, which I appreciated. We chose the winter tasting menu for $45 a person (three appetizers, choice of one of three mains, and choice of one of two desserts). The portions were slightly on the smaller size (fine dining vs chain restaurant) but the quality of the food was excellent and we didn't leave hungry, so felt this was an amazing value especially for the city. I had a gin cocktail, Golden State City, which had hints of tropical fruit but was not too sweet, and was quite good. We added beef dumplings to our appetizers, but unfortunately the kitchen forgot this dish. We decided we didn't need the fourth appetizer however and we were not billed for it. Appetizers included milk bread with shrimp infused butter (added a rich umami flavor), ~12 leaves of little gems salad, and a delicious plate of fried artichoke balls that were quite unique and tasty. My mom had the sea bass entrée, which she said had delicious crispy skin. My dad had the Schezwan spiced pork shoulder, which was melt in your mouth, and I had the cavatelli. Dessert was either carbonated grapes, which was served in the form of an ice with some whole grapes included, and chocolate pudding, both with vanilla ice cream. Servers during the dinner were very attentive, even with a large Christmas party that came in after we were seated. We had finished dinner and the server brought the check, but told us not to take too long since the table was reserved. We still had 15 minutes until the time we told them we would like to finish dinner to make our show, so this was a unexpected, and I was a bit disappointed to end the dinner on a low note and to feel like my parents were being hurried out. Overall though I would say it was an positive experience with excellent food.

The food was not great. The most tantalizing items were on a special menu that had to be all or nothing (appetizers, entrees and desserts). The food we ordered was on both ends of the spectrum. The spices were way over the top on the chicken wings. But the chicken entree was bland beyond belief. There are so many better choices in that area. So disappointed.

My favorite place to go when going to the theater! Great constantly evolving menu. Amazing flavors. Unique. Delicious. Staff is super friendly. Chef and restaurant manager are so welcoming of their guests. We’ve been here several times and bring friends and family with us. They are always amazing too. This place never disappoints. Today’s meal Tempura green beans, little gem salad, milk bread, salt & pepper cauliflower Short ribs Cheesecake Strawberry, meringue, black sesame ice cream (THE BEST THING EVER!) H Loved everything! Chef even sent us a new dish - it was like a deconstructed vegan ramen dish - for my daughter who is vegan. We all loved it! Hubby asked to try a drink form their upcoming fall menu. AMAZING! It had pangdan infused rum… omg! I ordered my own after trying his.

The meal, family style, was innovative and delicious. The service was great too. We were surprised and dismayed, however, when we returned to the front desk to have the valet retrieve our car and learned that the parking was more than our meal. $77 per car to be exact (not including the tip for the valet). The restaurant is in the Line hotel, which is on Turk Street at the edge of the Tenderloin. Parking in a lot or with a valet is critical so that one’s car is not broken into while dining. Someone at the hotel should have told us that valet parking for dinner guests was equivalent to that of valet-ing a car as an overnight hotel guest. We felt very disappointed and frankly “robbed” of a positive experience of the restaurant. Further, the front desk could not break a $20 to provide a tip to the valet—ridiculous. We were a party of 6 in 3 cars. The reservation was at 6:30, and the restaurant was not full. If this lovely venue expects to stay in business, it seems critical that they work out a better arrangement with the hotel valet, share with restaurant guests somewhere to park that is more reasonable (the valet pulled our cars from a $30 lot across the street from the hotel adding insult to injury), or advise that one take a car service or public transport. We were saddened to have our evening ruined by this incident.

This is my second visit to Tenderheart and it did NOT disappoint. Excellent choices for my prix fixe menu (everything was exquisite) but my favorite part of the evening was my new favorite cocktail, "Through the Garden" the perfect blend of sweet and subtle botanicals was heavenly. I even had the privilege of speaking the mixologist/creator of the cocktail. Such an honor! Keep up the great work Tenderheart. You have a big fan!

These wonderful folks prepared and served the BEST MEAL I've ever had. Yes, it's not cheap, but the quality is a notch-above ANYTHING I've had before in my life. The Avant Garde use of unusual herbs / spices / pickled carrots / peppers makes for an incredible blend in flavors which really pops in my mouth. This was an anniversary dinner on September 16th. I chose it due to proximity to our show at the Warfield. I will return soon (though 85 miles away). Yes, it's not cheap...but well worth the quality ! Beats 'corporate food' all over the place and priced the same. If you don't give this place a try, you're a fool ! Bon Appetit, Tom

Tenderheart restaurant is located inside the Line Hotel. The hostess and waitstaff overall were extremely friendly. We got there at 8:45pm unaware the restaurant closes at 9:00 p.m. But we booked our reservations through open table and there was no specific indication that the restaurant would be concerned about closing promptly at 9:00 p.m. They seated us without mentioning it. We were told when they brought us the menus that we would have to order our entire meal right away including cocktails, because of the kitchen closure. We ordered the entire meal and a cocktail and we asked if the bar closed at 9:00 as well and they said no, the bar was open later and that we would be able to get a glass of wine with our meal. The food was very good and innovative. We like the small plate approach but they had larger plates if you wanted them. We enjoyed the little gem salad and the stuffed pasta shells and ribs. However, these were brought out and we were told that we could not order any wine because the bar was closed. The wait staff stated that they had made a last call several minutes before our entrees were delivered. We were not seated at the bar and did not hear the last call. So we were unable to obtain a glass of wine with our meal despite having asked if that was going to be a problem. If you are an early eater and can get there well before kitchen closure, I think you will have a really good experience. If you go late, the wait staff will be much more concerned about getting out of there on time than they are about your meal experience. That said, they were very friendly and they were prompt. With so many great choices of places to eat around San Francisco, I don't think I would come back here again, but it's not because the food isn't tasty.

Love this place! Highly recommend! Super close to the Golden Gate Theater! They have a great Pre fix menu that has a great selection of their small plates, delicious main plates, and an amazing dessert! Bryan - Director of Food and Beverage - always friendly, remembers all the "regulars," and makes everyone feel like they are his #1 priority! Loved that he saw my Aunt enjoyed her champagne, so he made sure she got a 2nd glass. All the servers are just lovely. So many people tending to every detail. The food - is unique, artistic, great presentation ... and AMAZING flavors. We order something different each time and are never disappointed! We often sit at the chef's table, Executive Chef Joe Hou - always recognizes us and takes the time to chat about whatever it was we happened to order. And the cocktails ... they often switch up their menu, and if I'm bummed my recent favorite was no longer on the menu, it is not for long when I try something new and have a NEW favorite - this week was Sheso fine - a bourbon drink - LOVED IT!

The pre-show pre-fix menu was brilliant! Served family-style, the servings were generous and delicious. The sweet and savory pork belly and mushroom rice were highlights. The servers were friendly and attentive and served four courses in time for us to get to the theater before curtain without feeling rushed... This restaurant is perfect for dinner before a show at Golden Gate Theatre.

First time trying Tenderheart. We came early for a show at the Warfield. We went with the Prix Fixe menu and it was DELICIOUS. The service was stellar. And my cocktail (Through the Garden) was phenomenal!!!! We finished up with plenty of time and everyone was kind & professional. My ONLY criticism is the NOISE. OMG, from the open concept kitchen to the boisterous happy hour crowd to all the hard/angular surfaces, it was an incredible din. I think some acoustic mufflers or something will help. Just going to the LOVELY restrooms revealed a much quieter area apart from the main dining room. When we go back (and we will) we will ask to sit on that side. Wishing Tenderheart success!!!!

I brought my mom to Tenderheart for the pre-show 3-course prix fixe and we had a wonderful experience. Deliciously unique dishes, nice ambience, speedy and friendly service. Try the uni gnocchi and the lettuce cups!

Appetizer outstanding as tea for surprise and excellent. Had himachi which was warm and on bone and different. Prefer cold but was good.

Sweet and sour quail was fabulous, also enjoyed the raw options. Nice cocktails, good service.

The Burrata and Cauliflower dishes were both delicious as well as the strawberry dessert too. The staff are knowledgeable, make great recommendations and provide fantastic service.

Absolutely delicious food! We had cauliflower, burrata and tuna carpaccio. Great wine and dessert too. We’ll be back tonight!😃

Great presentation but odd tasting fusions. Had the tasting menu and most folks like it but the dessert were both not great.

The food was great, and the family style format made it easy to experience a lot of the great flavors. Service was great as well. Definitely worth a visit.
