In the late 1800’s, Royal Street was home to a famous “curio” shop, a place where curiosities from all over the world could be had for a dollar or two. Today, the shop is no more, but the feeling of excitement and wonder still exists on Royal Street today. And so in the heart of the most premier art district in New Orleans, we’re bringing back the curiosity – reintroducing New Orleans to a circus of flavor so vibrant it makes other restaurants nearby pale in comparison.

    Food awesome as always but out waitrress sucked and had a major attitude. Shame because we love Curio and that won’t stop us from coming back. Hopefully she was just having a bad day

    Went here for our last night of our anniversary vacation. New server so take that under consideration. First all food was delivered at once including appetizers. Had them hold main courses until we were ready. Was surprisingly pleased that food quality was good after being held. My burger was cooked to perfection and my wife’s jambalaya was tasty as well. The portion, however, was appetizer sized portion but priced as an entre. She LOVES her jambalaya and while priced like other restaurants, it was easily half the portion. Halfway through meal my draft beer was delivered in a champagne flute glass. It was the same beer I’ve been drinking all week and was double the price of every place else, it was small and warm. My wife left and was still hungry. Not a great experience for us.

    Made a reservation online and was seated promptly when we got there. The host was very nice but unfortunately, we never saw our waiter. We waited 50 mins until we decided to go somewhere else. The location is good and they honored our request to sit on the balcony which was very nice and calm for a Saturday night. I understand it's the French Quarter and it gets busy but an hour without even getting a water? No, thank you.

    Poboy sandwiches were amazing. Highly recommend the alligators. Drinks came out over late like after food was served. Other than that great experience.

    My Party arrived for our 12 noon brunch reservation only to be sat with no service for 10 minutes. After the wait without being acknowledged, we stopped a host to get a update on who our server was ,and he stated that there had been a miscommunication and our server was heading over. After an additional 8 minutes of waiting my party and I decided to leave. As we walked out the Host asked how was our meal as if w could consume 4 entrees in a 20 minute time frame. 10/10 don't recommend.

    Food was delicious HOWEVER it took way too long to be served. We waited almost an entire hour for eggs for our brunch!!!! And I had to flag down the waitress and ask where the food was. She should have been coming over to us to apologize for the crazy long delay.

    Nothing fancy, but a great little place if you want to get a bite fast. The fried alligator appetizer was delicious! And I got a sampler of the typical Louisiana foods, which again was nothing impressive but was still very good overall. Take home?? This would be equivalent to a red Robin or Applebee’s type experience. Don’t go here if you’re looking for someplace special, but the food is certainly enjoyable if you just need to get a decent meal.

    My family and I went to Curio twice this week, well, I only went once. The first time my husband and two adult children went, they said the food was pretty good, but the service was pretty slow. Due to its location on the corner of Royal, my husband wanted to go back so we could all sit on the balcony and watch the people walk by. I made sure to request the upper balcony outside when I made the booking on OpenTable.My husband arrived a little before us and sat at the bar having a drink, while waiting for us. He noted that the bartender and other employees were not very friendly. When my adult children and I arrived, I went in one door since there was another group coming in from the other door. I was rudely stopped by a slim, dark curly haired gentleman. I said I was going to meet my husband. He then went on to help the other couple who did NOT have a reservation and said he would take BOTH groups upstairs at the same time, barely acknowledging anyone in our group. Speaking to the other party singularly. When we arrived upstairs, he put us in the far back corner and the other couple closer to the corner of the balcony. When my husband asked about our request to be on Royale Street, the host rudely snapped back that "he didn't have enough servers". After being seated, we were not approached by our server for 15-20 minutes. Instead, the other group that had come in had drinks and starters ordered. After we finally ordered our appetizers, I had to ask for napkins and utensils as none were on the table. As we sat there, the host continued to seat at least 4-5 other parties around the corner on the balcony, directly where my husband had asked to sit as well as what I had asked for in the reservation booking. The server was clearly overwhelmed with all of the parties and did finally get some assistance as the evening went on. Their server did apologize for all of the challenges in ordering, etc.... The host was extremely rude and set the tone for ruining our evening.

    Server made us feel rushed. He put in our main dish order right after we ordered appetizers and the main dish came out before our appetizers. He never asked if we wanted another drink nor did he check on us or ask us how we thought of the food. The crab cakes were super salty and the capers were burnt. We did like the brussel sprouts and the alligator sausage.

    Honestly, just don't go. Hostest was clueless, staff just not friendly at all. The drinks were so-so. The duck gumbo was really good. the crab claws were completly over sauced with sugar and the alligator was over battered and tastless. reminded me of pre made from a bag. Will not return.

    How was Curio? So good. If you’re in New Orleans looking for a good restaurant to stop at, Curio is the place. This is one of my favorite spots. The food is amazing - so yummy. The atmosphere, fabulous. Whether you’re eating downstairs or on the balcony - it’s amazing. 10/10 highly recommend. I always stop here when I’m in NOLA.

    Service was great and the food was excellent. The only downfall was the pricing on the drink menu was not honored…. Menu had 5 but we were charged 14.

    I have never seen service this bad, it’s honestly astounding. 16 person party: 10 items incorrect and sent back, 3 dishes sent back 2+ times as each time the order was wrong again, sometimes seriving the exact same thing we gave them to take back. I felt as though I was on some prank show it was so bad. Food is actually quite good for its price though.

    The waiter was on some kind of drugs. Messed up everyone’s order. We had to send everything back. Messed up one person dish 3 times when asked to not have chicken, proceeded to send back the dish 3 times with chicken. Manager had to get involved and said he would remove some items off our checks, but didn’t end up even doing that.

    Drinks and appetizers were really good. We had the alligator bites - very tasty. Jambalaya was good too. Service was also very good. My husband swore he saw a mouse run along a chair rail and behind our booth (in the back behind the bar area). So watch your handbags!
