Bienvenue au CUCINA urbana, un restaurant de quartier italo-américain avec boutique de vin. Il vous accueille dans un cadre décontracté, au cœur de Bankers Hill. Son menu met en évidence les cuisines de différentes régions d'Italie agrémentées de sa fameuse touche californienne distincte à base de produits de la ferme à la table, qui a fait la réputation de l'Urban Kitchen Group. Le chef Joe Magnanelli est heureux de partager son héritage italien et de concocter des plats frais, simples et de saison, notamment des antipasti, des pizzas traditionnelles, des pâtes et des piatti. Delicious food and very lovely waitstaff. We came to the restaurant prior to a show and told the waitress had limited time. She was happy to oblige! We ordered a pizza and a salmon entree. I really came within 10 minutes. Pizza was delicious, hot and crispy. Salmon was perfectly cooked with a super crispy skin and yummy accompaniments. Overall, good experience. Will return for a more leisurely meal soon.

Staff is efficient and friendly. If you’re going to a production at the Old Globe they have a great shuttle service . Little high on prices - for instance- wanted some bread so they brought a thick piece of focaccia with butter & oil - for which the cost seemed steep .

Good location and great atmosphere. The food was not worth coming back for, however the desert was good in particular the best tiramisu I ever had. The service was ok. I would give 3.5 stars overall. I will not be back.

Cucina Urbana used to be our go-to place, 18+ years ago. We loved virtually every dish this restaurant served. Unfortunately, it turns out a lot has changed in 18 years. The squash blossoms used to be a must have. Now the recipe has been ‘improved’ and, while still good, they aren’t great anymore. The yellowtail crudo was shockingly bad. The chef devised an accompanying sauce made up of blended bread and garlic that really shouldn’t go anywhere near such a beautiful, delicate raw fish. More disappointingly, three of the four of us disliked our dinners. Each dish tasted like it now had a mushroom/truffle/smoky base trying too hard to be something it’s not. The short rib pappardelle used to be this rich, tomato-based, savory dish, so filling you always brought home leftovers. That dish was unrecognizable. On the bright side, the host and hostess who welcomed us in were delightful and our waitress was wonderful (friendly, responsive and attentive). We chose not to complain to her about the food because how do you explain everything was just….bad? I guess we’ll just have to remember our great meals at the OG Cucina Urbana created by the original chef (pretty sure it was Deborah Scott).

The dinner was scrumptious, beautiful, and memorable from start to finish. The oysters from Washington State had just the right flavoring with a touch of vinegar and hot sauce. The salad was the best we have had -- greens or all sorts, toasted almonds, chickpeas, parmesan cheese, and a champagne vinagrette that beautifully and lightly complimented the meal. My partner had a delicious pizza with sausage that he savored. My salmon dish was divine -- pea puree, slender vegetables, and just right salmon. The limoncello dessert with meringue was a perfect finale! The waitress gave exellent advice on pairing wines. Service by everyone was spot on.

We dined on Mother’s Day. We were a group of eight. We had a nice long table by the retail wine. It wasn’t overly loud there, but the restaurant is quite noisy. The food was outstanding. Highlights were the foccacio, the octopus, the short rib and the bolognese. The desserts were spectacular. Budino, tiramisu, and limoncello mousse tart. They are very large and very shareable. A great meal and we will be back

The food was delicious! We dine there at least once every couple of months. Sometimes bring guests. The menu changes from time to time but the food and drinks are always creative and delicious with a beautiful presentation. This visit I had the Wild Isle Salmon this visit. And the cocktail Smoke and Flowers. It was heavenly. The servers are always friendly and know what’s going on in the kitchen. (My husband loves the polenta board!!) We appreciate the kindness and attention given to us this time by our server, Josh. Also, the great service starts when we arrive and check in. Always smiling faces, happy to see us.

The drinks were fabulous I had the lavender 75 and it was beautifully presented then had the salad which was excellent. We also had the warm olives and they were bursting with flavor. I must say the chicken Milanese was a little tough though., but had great taste. The side dishes were very flavorful.

50 Characters?! …that seems like a lot. well, first of all our server Kevin S was fantastic. Kevin was truly excellent at his job. This was a special date night dinner with my girl and she was clearly impressed with your restaurant.

The food and service was excellent! They offer wholesale prices in wine at the restaurant so we got a 1 liter bottle of Caymus for under $100. I can’t wait to go back!

The squash blossom appetizer and burrata pizza were excellent. The chicken milanese entree - not so much. Service was excellent, too. Would return - just don’t order the chicken.

Although we were a bit skeptical when we were brought to our sidewalk table ~ we had absolutely no reason to be. Robert greeted us warmly, made us feel like family, and provided a fantastic meal and evening. The food was delicious, Robert and his cohort (very kind young man) did everything right. We’re so glad we chose this restaurant to celebrate Ron’s birthday. Everything was a standout - the warm olives, the carrots, the Brussels sprouts and the pizza. And the limoncello dessert topped off the meal perfectly. Yummy!! Make a reservation and go enjoy a delightful meal.

Food and service were good. I really don’t understand the 3-4% surcharge (hidden in fine print) and request for 25%~30% tip after recent pay raise to $20/hr. Doesn’t make sense…

Our party of four enjoyed great service and delicious food for an evening meal at Cucina Urbana. Our server was Sarah, and she was attentive and gave good suggestions for our meal and wine choices. Everyone loved all our meal items and the rosé wine. The acoustics in the restaurant are not very good, and the restaurant was almost completely full of talking people, so it was very difficult to enjoy a conversation during our meal. I would still recommend this restaurant and would return because the food and service were outstanding.

We enjoyed the free shuttle to the Old Globe. The staff was very helpful. Sunday night they don't charge a corkage fee for their open bottles. All great features!

It was a beautiful place and the service was fast and great my waitress was sara(h) and she was very nice and helpful there was even a bus boy named George who would clear our dishes less than 2 minutes after we would finish highly suggest the polmato and the meatballs

The food was good nothing special, or worth noting that would come back for other than the dessert, The Lemonchello Tarte was beyond delicious and dare I say a heavenly experience. The price was lil high for the quantity that was offered, especially on the appetizers. Overall good place, nice vibes and good service.

Sat outside on the patio which was nice and quiet. We could actually have a conversation without yelling and leaning in (indoor seating). Only downside is it was so so cold. Wish the have electric heaters hanging from above, or enclosed better.
