Les ornements de cow-boy primés et les foyers intérieurs sont l'une des raisons de dîner dans ce steakhouse historique d'East Village. Mais il en va de même pour les plats à base de viande. My family and I went to Cowboy Star to celebrate Mother's Day. My first thought when I walked in was "this place is pretty small/it's a bar" but it does open up in the back, a little. Veronica, waitress, was very welcoming and recommended some dishes after she served me up a Cowboy Whiskey Sour (excellent). The three of us split the Caesar Salad and the Wedge. The Wedge stood out b/c of the nice, tasty cubes of bacon! From there, we went straight to the main dishes. My son had the rib eye (w/chimichurri), my wife had the T-bone (with raw horseradish), and I had the (gasp) Poached Halibut. All were cooked perfectly (med rare steaks) and tasted as good as they looked. For sides, we split the mac & cheese and creamed leaks. M&C was exceptional. For dessert, Veronica recommended the Banana Pudding and Sticky Toffee cake. Just looking at the menu, I wouldn't have picked either either, but both were REALLY good. I was genuinely surprised and thankful that Veronica recommended them. I would highly recommend Cowboy Star for sure.

Our waiter recommended the bone-in aged steak and we can't thank him enough. We ordered the bread service, shrimp cocktail and wedge salad; the aforementioned aged steak and a rib-eye; the bread pudding, banana pudding, and strawberry pie. All were fantastic and will be ordered again. Our waiter and wait staff were outstanding.

Food was Delicious, but the Portions are Tiny. $30 for 2 Tablespoons of Alaskan King Crab. It wasn't even Leg Meat, It was Body or Knuckle Meat. The Ribeye was very Fatty, but not horrible. It came with Mashed Potatoes, about 4 Tablespoons worth.

As always, a great experience. Shrimp cocktail, wedge salad, Wagyu skirt steak all fantastic. Topped it off with chocolate chip bread pudding. Fantastic. Our favorite restaurant.

Very great steakhouse in downtown San Diego. The atmosphere and of the place was very nice, it had moody lighting and an energetic crowd. The food was also very splendid and we didn’t have one bad dish. Would very much recommend this place.

This was my least impressive experience with the food. Both of our steaks were full of fat (i typically looove the fatty pieces but this was over 80% of the steak). Though our meals were sub par the experience was great because the staff were remarkable. Our server inquired about our meal. When we shared with her how we felt she immediately without asking spoke to the manager. She was able to make it right and was soooo wonderful to us. Despite this one off, we'll be back again. There is nothing I appreciate more than a restaurant trying making it right.

Cowboy Star is one of our top two restaurants in San Diego and we have been going there for years. One of the best parts of Cowboy Star besides their excellent food, is the service, its second to none. What's even better for us is Luis, our server. He has been our server for all the times that we have dined there. Very pleasant, informative, and attentive to your needs. We will be back soon.

Excellent Service. Excellent clams & mussels and bread. The steak was the main reason we came, and the Cattleman's Cut was disappointing. It was cooked medium like we asked. It was very tough, dry, and did not have any part of the cap. Extremely disappointed in the steak. I was expecting much better.

After starting with one of the most fantastic wedge salads we have ever experienced, we ordered the signature bone-in ribeye and a churrasco wagyu skirt steak. While cooked properly, both were overly chewy and unremarkable. It was a lovely atmosphere with great service, but the main course certainly did not meet our expectations.

My husband and I have been wanting to come here and we are so glad we did. We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and they had a special venue that said Happy Anniversary! The food was amazing and during our wait they brought out two different amuse-bouche for us. We shares the porterhouse for two and the Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious and came out perfectly cooked. We will definitely be going back!

Very disappointed in what I consider usually an ICON in San Diego. Service was average at best, and for over 500.00 with tip and limited alcohol the value is gone. Just another over priced San Diego Restaurant which there are way to many now. None of our steaks were cooked as ordered. My rib eye was the disappointment of the night, very poor quality. Old Fashioned Cocktail made with basic well bourbon. Steak knives were dull with no serration and actually asked for a new round but not much improvement. My ribeye was nearly impenetrable with the first dull knife. Just generally quite disappointing.

Our server, Lori, was outstanding! Professional and friendly. The food was tasty and delicious. A++++ The dining room was a bit on the noisy side. We do miss the white tablecloths. We noticed the Manager walking around the restaurant, but it was odd he never went to anyone’s table. In the future, it would be a nice touch if the manager greeted us at some point.
