Reservation Cancellation Policy: As we are a small restaurant with limited seating, No Shows and Reservations cancelled with less than 12 hour notice may be subject to a charge of $20 per person.

Our Patio counts on a heated and covered tent that will run through December, January and February for additional seating.

The Cortez is a fresh seafood and small plates experience with a freshly kept selection of tropical cocktails that draw on our food memories, travels through the years, and Mexican-American heritage.

Staff was very attentive and informative about the menu. Oysters were so fresh. We came for the smash burger and it didn't disappoint, so good. Fresh crab and avocado crema on bread was a tasty/hearty small plate. Can't wait to go back!

Everything you would want in a nice casual resturant to take your significant other out on a date or to celebrate an occasion. The food was delicious and neither of us regreted our choices. Thank you so much for making my wifes evening and we will definatly be back to try the other dishes.

Cortez is fabulous. The octopus is delicious and not everyone can do it right. Cortez definitely does. Other stand outs are the ceviche, tiradito and gambas. So delicious! We can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I celebrated her birthday with dinner at Cortez last night. Overall it was a great experience! The only nit would be we waited 10-15 mins after being seated for our waitress to stop by. The rest of the night more than made up for it. We ordered oysters, several small plates and shared the taco plate. The food was delicious and delivered at a good cadence, so we were not inundated with plates all at once. The food was prepared perfectly, tasty and fresh. As I put a note in our reservation that it was my wife's birthday, they kindly provided a free champagne toast and a churro with ice cream dessert with a candle. My wife was thrilled!! This was our second time dinning at Cortez, and both times the meals were excellent. We are looking forward to our next visit!

Celebrated my birthday here and so glad we did! Service was exceptional, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was fun but not overly stimulating. Can’t wait to get back and 💯 recommend to anyone wanting fresh NC oysters in one of the best places in Raleigh!!

Overall, we enjoyed our food and the ambience. The small plates were very generous servings to share, we could have done just 3 instead of 4 items. Two things were disappointing. First, there were other tables available and the hostess chose to sit us right between the hostess stand and a couple that were sitting on the same side of the table which was cramped. We asked to move, and great, they let us. The second thing was we were celebrating my sister’s birthday and marked it on the reservation but we weren’t offered anything for it.

Mussels and and the shrimp al ajillo were delicious but the shrimp tacos were just okay. The shrimps breading could have been seasons better or the dressing and the tortillas seem store bought. But overall enjoyed it and if it weren’t for the smaller details, I would have given it 4 stars.

Service started out great, but slowly dwindled. It was getting dark and chilly, but the manager decided to turn off the heater without asking. She was more concerned with putting plates on tables than grabbing a pitcher and filling up water or helping the ONE server. I didn’t even get the chance to order a second drink and my water was empty for most of the meal. The carne asada was so tough - told the server and he brought free churros, but no water. I’ll come back, but I would suggest giving the manager a run down on service and not give the server as many tables. If he has that many, the manager should be out there helping GUESTS, not setting empty tables (silverware was still missing).

It was a fabulous dinner. We had the snapper ceviche, grilled romaine Caesar salad, shrimp tacos and delicious churros for dessert. The bread and weed butter was amazing, too! We’ll definitely be back!

The food was amazing. I had the swordfish and my husband had the hanger steak. Both were cooked to perfection. The Rum cake for dessert was delicious. Great service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back! Thanks again!

Outstanding as always….one of our favorite date night spots. Love sitting at the bar. Make sure to save some room for a churro dessert…it’s totally worth it.

Cortez is always the move. Menu is creative is so flavorful. Service was great. Menu is always changing what some staples, which we love. Cortez is always in rotation
