2nd time at Cooper's, this time met a friend for lunch. Excellent as before. Good value. The open faced meatloaf was excellent. The slaw and potato salad were very good. A nice quiet place for a sit down lunch. If you have the time for a business lunch or mid-day date, this little place will impress.

This is a smaller restaurant in the Valley Junction shopping area of West Des Moines. The food here is great and the atmosphere is nice. The servers and staff are always excellent and friendly. Great place to book a reservation!

Our favorite date night spot in Des Moines! A great variety of food offered without a huge overwhelming menu and I’ve never had anything I didn’t like. The weekly specials are always amazing and the egg rolls are a must! The staff is incredible and attentive.

2 reasons why we didn’t give 5 stars all around. My husband didn’t care for his sandwich and he usually enjoys Cuban sandwiches (what he ordered). We were with 2 other couples and each couple requested their own bill- ours had a $13 drink that one of the other couples ordered. Felt awkward saying anything so we let it go by…

We were a party of 6 on a busy Friday night but our experience was excellent all around. Parking was easy, service was friendly and super fast, drinks and food were delicious and I felt the value was really good. My only small criticism was the lighting made it hard to read the menu. We used our phone flashlights and all was good.

First time to Cooper's. Very good. Steak DeBurgo was very good. Slightly different than old Johnny's Vets Club that originally made the dish but quite good. Wife had the filet with grilled onions. Also excellent. Perfectly done. Fried Okra appetizers was just about perfect. I used to live in New Orleans. Lots of places screw up fried Okra. Light batter. Aoli was spicy without being overpowering. Well done. Cocktails were very, good. My old fashioned was a touch too sweet, but that is probably my personal taste and a bit of the honey settling. Wife's berry martini-like drink was spot on. Cooked carrots were nicely done. Too many times cooked carrots are over done or glazed to be candy. Not at all. Savory with the seasoning but slightly sweet because roasted carrots. Really liked the place. Service was good but not excellent. 2 waitstaff plus the hostess. They were hopping. It was clear the waitstaff needed that hostess helping seat, clear and refill water and such. They had their hands full. Was a bit noisy, but it was full. No table was empty more than a few minutes. Get reservations on weekends for sure. We will be back. Salmon looked excellent and I'd like to try a few sandwiches and some different cocktails.

Dinner with friends at Cooper’s was a taste adventure. The wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Loved the cozy feeling of Great experience. We’ll return to taste some of the many options.

We've been trying to get into Coopers for awhile to try it out and see if all the rumors and hype were true. Previously tried to go without making a reservation and could not get in. This time, made a reservation, arrived a few minutes early, and was seated immediately. Calm lighting, wood and leather furnishings, and sparking glassware welcome you into this warm space. Our waiter came over quickly and introduced himself and was so polite about offering to answer any questions we have. The food service industry is very competitive and besides the food, service is the one thing that will make someone into a repeat customer or not. Dinner was off to a great start! We enjoyed a couple martini's and mules. All fresh, uniquely crafted, and delightful! We were told by friends that the egg rolls were a must. We tried them and were pleasant surprised! Flavorful and unique! We also tried the Pepper Jack cheese sticks (one of the chefs specials for the week). Hands down one of the best fried cheese sticks ever! Tasty, crispy and the cheese was so hot and gooey! I also tried their soup of the day which was a kale and graziano sausage soup! One of the best soups I've ever had and I usually don't like kale very much . For dinner we had the cielo burger and the Sonoma chicken sandwich. The flavors exploded off of our palates! Everything was juicy and fresh! We take the quality and freshness of the food restaurants serve seriously. If the food is not good, we're not going to waste our money and come back. Coopers on 5th meets up to its reputation of being one of the best places in Des Moines for food and drinks! We're definitely coming back!! Maybe during the summer when their patio is opened. Thanks Coopers on 5th for a great date night for my hubby and I! Just amazing!!

The ambiance in the restaurant is great!! It is small and cozy feeling! Our server was knowledgeable and had great energy! The food was superb!! Everything from the drinks to the appetizers and then the meal, fantastic!!

Dinner last night was AMAZING. The service was second to none and the food was incredible. We had the gouda mac and cheese with a side of the cheddar potatoes. The potatoes were the highlight of the meal and we are still talking about them the next day. We cannot recommend this place enough!! Make sure to book a reservation to ensure your spot as the dining room is quite small! We will be back!

As always, the food was excellent. Pricing for the size of your order was fair and equitable. Our waitress (Oksana) was gracious, courteous, and more than willing to assist. The owner, Ryan Cooper, was present and stopped by our table to ensure our evening was going well.
