Their Focus is obviously on seafood and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the seafood dishes. Our favorite was the octopus and least favorite was the pasta pomodoro but overall high quality food. Dessert was the fig tart which my wife loved loved loved. Service was outstanding but I felt like it was too frequent with less than 5 minutes checking in between. I would dine again 4.5 stars

Contramar’s reputation did not disappoint. 2nd time visiting. Try the mezcal drink with tamarindo, scallop and ahi tostadas, grilled octopus, al pastor tacos and the whole fish contramar style. Everything excellent. Sat outside both times there so can’t speak for the noise or ambiance inside. No complaints on service, Hugo was kind and patient, very attentive.

Isidro fue un excelente mesero! Lo amé!!! Las tostadas de atún como siempre deliciosas. El pescado a la talla no me encantó tanto. Las tiritas de Zihuatanejo son una delicia pero se toman con Yoli y no había y me rompió el corazón.

We had a beautiful experience at Contramar. In a city with so much great food, this is a can’t miss. Every dish was full of flavor yet light. Our server Alejandro was the best - so nice and fun. We were lucky to sit outside. Definitely have a Carajillo with dessert. Trust me, go all in with the food, drinks and experience.

Absolutely amazing dining experience! Do not miss this one if you are visiting and make sure you have reservations - we saw multiple people turned away. Wait staff is phenomenal! Follow their recommendations and you’ll have a great meal.

I have a severe allergic reaction to sesame seeds, told the waiter before I ordered that I had this allergy and then they served dishes that had sesame in it. I had a severe allergic reaction, had to leave the restaurant without eating and they still charged my partner the full price of the meal even though we had to leave due to my anaphylaxis. This was a horrible experience

Absolutely delicious meal! The tuna tostadas are something special, the croquets had a perfectly crisp exterior and creamy filling, the fish tacos al pastor were the best I’ve ever had and the fig tarte was the cherry on top. Best meal of our trip!

Excellent service and great seafood. We went for lunch and the place quickly filled up. The soft shell crab was excellent. Highly recommended.

Contramar es un clásico para ir a degustar mariscos, es indispensable probar y conocer su gastronomía y no dejar pasar el pescado a la talla que preparan con sus 2 salsas, siempre es garantía comer en este restaurante.

Contramar lives up to its hype. The food is so fresh and flavorful. We got the tuna tostada, shrimp aguachile and the whole fish fried with two different sauces. My picky 12 year old ate the whole fish barely leaving any for us, it was that good! The service was great, didn’t have to wait long which seems to be common in many of these popular restaurants in CDMX. Prices were reasonable as well. Would definitely come back.

Gabriel Camara’s food is incredible. Exquisite seafood. The service was exceptional. I wish I had made a reservation for everyday I was in Mexico City.

Everything and everyone recommended Contramar, and it far exceeded all recommendations! Food- fresher than fresh, lively flavors, ample portions. Servers were pleasant, polite, friendly, attentive, and gave good recommendations. I wish I could return tomorrow!!!

Se escucha mucho el eco dentro del lugar está súper ruidoso pero por la gente y el sonido de los platos no por la música. El lugar está equis, la comida tenía expectativas más altas… lo mejor fue el pulpo de entrada y el merengue de fresa. La atención al principio fue mala pero mejoró

We were rushed in and out. Waiters kept trying to get our plates with unfinished food. Quite sad as this was just mediocre and expensive experience.

It was very good but not great. Perhaps a victim of its hype. The tuna tostada. Was the star. Thought the red and green grilled fish specialty was overpriced and under delivered in the wow factor.

Having been to Cala in SF, Chef Gabriela’s American version of Contramar , we were excited to visit her original flagship in Mexico City. It did not disappoint. Immediately upon arrival, you could feel the energy and vibrancy surrounding this place and the bustle of the waiters serving the many tables that fill this happening spot. The waitstaff were amazing and engaging and really made the dinner exceptional with old school type service and attention to details. We enjoyed so many dishes from tuna carpaccio to the tuna tostadas and tacos of fried shrimp and fish. We had her signature snapper with red and green sauce and enjoyed the octopus salad. Finishing off the meal with the strawberry meringue dessert was perfection.

El restaurante era excelente y estuvo a la altura de las expectativas. La comida era sabrosa y fresca. El servicio fue impecable y nos sentimos bien atendidos. Las tostadas de atún y callo eran perfectas, el ceviche estaba fuera de este mundo y la tarta de higos no solo era hermosa sino también deliciosa. La comida en general fue la mejor de todo nuestro tiempo en la CDMX
