Commis in Oakland is a Two-Star Michelin** rated fine dining restaurant by James Beard Foundation Nominated Chef James Syhabout that serves a multi-course Tasting Menu.

Diners at Commis are invited to linger for 2.5 to 3 hours over an multi-course meal in a warm, comfortable and relaxing dining room appointed by glowing glass light pendants, dark furniture, bare walnut tables, dim lit candles and floral arrangements.

Delivered by the attentive service staff and sommeliers, the cuisine of Commis showcases some of the best Northern California ingredients that are in season through modern and classic cooking techniques. The cuisine aims to bridge the flavors, textures and temperatures of the East and West with every course with the intention to excite and satisfy.

Commis is a Two-Michelin Star rated fine dining restaurant destination located in Oakland by Chef James Syhabout. We offer a multi-course tasting menu for $225 per person. An optional globe-trotting beverage pairing is available for $119 per person. We require all guest including young patrons to participate in the tasting menu when sitting in the dining room. A $100 per guest security deposit is collected upon booking the reservation. The deposit will be credited towards your final check after your experience at the restaurant.

We went to celebrate my son’s birthday at Commis and it was such an unforgettable experience! Each course was beautifully done, blending unique flavors with exquisite presentation. The staff were exceptionally attentive, making my us feel special throughout our evening. It truly made my son’s birthday not just a meal, but a cherished memory.

Beautiful dinner celebrating our son’s bday. We loved many dishes and dessert. I had a wine pairing and it was very interesting and good value. Highly recommend it.

Commis never disappoints. Wonderful service and incredible food! I was also thankful for the vast array of non-alcoholic beverage choices including a spin on their famous old fashion and multiple zero proof wine options. Thank you for thinking of the "Cali Sober" population!
