This is our favorite restaurant. It’s perfect for lunch. Dinner, a drink after work a drink after the theater. It’s always lovely and always welcoming. The food is awesome. It’s a second home.

I enjoyed my (canned tuna) salad nicoise very much. My lunch comp[anions also enjoyed their choices: chicken salad, omelette, salad nicoise with raw tuna.

A charming brasserie with excellent service! My boyfriend had seafood appetizers and the boeuf bourguinon. I had a salad and the salmon burger with fabulous fries. The portions were a bit small for him but just right for me. We totally and absolutely loved the chocolate souffle with English cream and vanilla ice cream. Way to go!

Expensive for what I had. Pretty sad little salad accompaniment to eggs. Just a few leaves with lots of oil dressing. Disappointed as I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years. Fries were lukewarm. Will re- think about a next time.

In general it was good. Chocolate soufflé and onion soup weee incredible. However the spinach and mushroom quiche did not taste like much and the filet mignon with green pepper sauce was over cooked and just a regular taste. I felt that for two such important plates in a French restaurant, to not be good, was kind of a deal breaker. That is why I scored it a 3.5 actually

Food and service was excellent. We arrived for a 6:45 reservation and sat inside. We were able to easily have a conversation. At 8:00 the restaurant was full and the chatter was deafening. We would definitely return but sit outdoors in the enclosed section

Four of us had dinner outside last night. We dine here frequently and unfortunately the food was not nearly as good as it has been in the past. Three of our party ordered the hamburger. Two requested it to be "well done" and my husband requested "medium rare." They were all cooked exactly the same way -- medium. It was too well done for my husband's taste and not sufficiently cooked for the other two guests. I order the salmon with a miso glaze, served with black rice. The entire dish -- salmon and rice -- was pretty tasteless and boring. The only dish that was quite good was the onion soup. The service was also slow and my husband had to chase after the waiter to take our orders. I will still recommend this restaurant, hoping that it was just an "off" night.

Cognac East (Brasserie 70th) is always 5 stars in my opinion. And I am very glad to see the Tuna Tart back on the menu. Wonderful, as always. Thanks.

Excellent food, well presented. The gougères and the escargots were particularly delightful. The steak frites featured much better fries than I usually expect these days, and the steak was tasty and both the medium and medium rare were precisely right. Although it was busy, the downstairs room was not noisy. The service was mostly very attentive till the end of the meal, when we waited so long to give our dessert and coffee orders that by the time the server came back the moment had passed and we just paid and left instead.

Overall pretty good. The halibut and roast chicken were quite good. The spinach and avocado salad was not. I was disappointed that the duck a l’orange was not that at all but it was a seared duck. The tart tatin and the profiteroles were quite good. The drinks were not great. The tables are very small - even by NY standards. The prices were fare. The menu is a lovely authentic French menu. I will go back.

charming little brasserie on ues, second floor has a different vibe and it’s ok but i definitely prefer the first floor, menu include French classics, nothing original, but they miss here and there (profiteroles are filled with ice cream 😣) other than that, definitely recommend

We love Brasserie Cognac and have often returned over many years. We like the atmosphere - ambiance, if you prefer - and that we are always welcomed with a smile and efficient and kind service. The cheese souffle could have been a little tastier. However, the duck was light and elegant!

Calm, comforting, elegant old-school cafe. Mostly folks of a certain age so don’t expect any kind of vibe. Signature chicken salad - delicious!

Salad was all stems and the duck was difficult to cut and chew. Would have like fruit for desert but none was on the menu.

Always a pleasure to meet for dinner at Cognac! This was a birthday celebration for my Aunts 84th birthday And she loved her meal and chocolate ganache cake with the candle ! Thanks for your excellent service and hospitality, gorgeous Sancerre! And my only query was the salt on the too of the gougeres… never had that in the past… it wasn’t necessary for me as yours have always been magnificent! Merci
