Bienvenidos a Cocina de Barrio, the newest modern-urban Mexican restaurant located in Hillcrest, San Diego! We are proud to feature the culinary richness of Oaxaca as well as other Mexican regions. Stop by and enjoy our bar stocked with plenty tequila and mezcal selections, MUCHA cerveza, and wines sourced from Valle Guadalupe.

Amazing experience! Our server was very patient with us because we couldn’t decide what to pick out of the delicious sounding plates. Then our drinks came and they were so good! And the food oh my god so freaking delicious! So pretty much highly recommend!

The place is bright and airy. Food was delicious and service was attentive without being overbearing. I didn’t pay it even see the bill so can’t comment on the value but i highly recommend this place! We all got something different (5 adults) and shared. Food presentation was beautiful and taste was yummy.

We all had birria tacos. The food was delicious and even complimented by our picky grand-teens. The portions appeared small but were more than enough (even for those teens). The on-tap beer choices were different but very much suited the meal.

This place wasn’t what we were expecting. Prices were high for what it was. However, what we had was very good .Menu was a bit eclectic not what you would call traditional. It’s Oaxacan so there’s lots of mole-which I did have and was very good. I wish they would have had some kind of tamale or taco. The ambiance inside is very casual with booths doesn’t really match the vibe. Wasn’t crowded at 7pm on a Saturday night so that was convenient for parking.
