Welcome to Cocina de Barrio, the newest modern-urban Mexican restaurant located in Encinitas, CA! We are proud to feature the culinary richness of Oaxaca as well as other Mexican regions. Stop by and enjoy our bar stocked with plenty of tequila and mezcal selections, beer, and wines sourced from Valle Guadalupe.

Don't forget to join us during our weekend brunch (where we add a Mexican kick) and our happy hour every Monday-Friday from 3-5pm! Stay Chido!

Amazing food and such a cute spot. The ambience was so perfect. Get the guacamole, regret it!

Plenty of vegan options. We ordered guacamole for our table of five; they make the guacamole fresh, tableside, it was delicious. They provided plenty of chips with the guacamole. I ordered vegan coconut Aguachile. The coconut was tender, and it had a tasty green sauce. It was a huge portion; after eating a bit of guacamole and this appetizer, I was too full to eat my entree. I ordered the Flor de Calabaza for my main course. This was a huge portion of rice, a bean and veggie mixture with a yummy tomato-based sauce, and four stuffed zucchini blossoms. All were very good. They were especially good as leftovers the next day. My husband ordered the seabass and raved about how good it was. My daughter ordered the steak and enjoyed it. The steak was huge, she brought half of it home . This was a birthday celebration, but we didn't ask for anything special. We had a nice time, lots of delicious food and great service.

This spot is really excellent: food, service, drinks, menu composition and ambiance. It's the second time we've eaten here in two months which is a rarity for my wife and I. Definitely worth returning too.

Great new Oaxacan Mexican restaurant. If you like Mole, the Short Ribs are to die for. Great cocktails and in the summer on a hot day, enjoy a Margarita with a fruit popsicle! It was a surprise, but I enjoyed dipping my pineapple popsicle in the Margarita and can’t wait to have one on a hot day this summer… yummy! Welcome to Encinitas Covina de Barrio!

Service is excellent . We always order the table side guacamole and it’s seriously the best . One of our go to spots. I’m vegetarian and have yummy entree options for me!

I had my birthday celebration here with my husband and kids and we were all blown away on how delicious the food was. Not just delicious but authentic. The staff was happy and attentive. It felt like we were actually in a fine dining restaurant.The ambience is very family friendly, but you get treated like royalty. I highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back soon

Great food…so different! Guacamole made at table is best I ever had. Had margarita topped by an actual popsicle (pomegranate cherry) which was very heavy on the alcohol. Will be back…brunch sounds amazing!
