Been here several times . Wonderful people from the maitre d' to the bartenders to the waiters. Food is always great. Only negatives are difficulty finding parking on weekends- which is an issue with all the restaurants in downtown SJC. Also the bar area is a little small.

There were 6 of us for dinner on Sunday night at 6 pm. We were seated inside, as requested, on time. Service was very good. We have been there many times, but feel the food has gone downhill in the recent past. I ordered pasta, with shrimp for dinner. My dish had only 3 medium shrimp in it! The dish was $29! I was not happy. Other people had lasagna, which was good. Another friend said her pasta was just ok. My husband had chicken Parmesan which was good.

Food is always wonderful, George is their best server, wine list has some great wines at a reasonable prices & variety is impressive. In SJC we have tried the other old and new Italian restaurants and we always return to Ciao Pasta. It is the best in the area. My wife and I go to Ciao Pasta for a great meal together, for birthdays or events, we go to Ciao Pasta. When tourist and friends ask for a recommendation, we refer Ciao Pasta. Go and enjoy... This was my first time here and I found the food to be delicious, from the complimentary bread with olive spread to the pasta carbonara, everything was so delicious. Many places I go to these days seem to charge a ridiculous price for bread rolls often $8 and up and when I taste them, more times than not the bread is dry or tasteless and here they give you the bread along with your meal and it is much better and tastier than the bread I have paid extra for. Good job Ciao Pasta!!

Not sure how this place has such a good rating. I wish I could have never gone here. Nothing is made from scratch here. Our whole meal was as if it had been pre cooked and then heated in a microwave when we ordered it. Steaming hot in the inside and cold on the outside. Pasta was all stuck together. Pizza toppings were hot and yet the crust was cold. It’s a glorified Olive Garden. The menu is misleading acting as if it’s “nonna’s dishes”, there is no way this is authentic Italian recipes passed down generations. How did this place win a James Beard award in 2022?

The service was excellent and the staff was welcoming and friendly. We ordered the halibut and it was delicious and very tasty. We would definitely go back to Ciao Pasta.

I have to give it a lower score, because I was disappointed that OpenTable asked if this was a special occasion ( yes it was, our 50th anniversary), but the restaurant never acted on this. Why ask if the information will not be used to make a dining experience extra special ?

Another fantastic meal. We had the salmon salad, and this is by far the freshest, perfectly prepared salmon in orange county. The team is always attentive and welcoming, providing a great experience.

We had another fabulous meal tonight! My husband and I shared the halibut and it was delicious. We also shared a large Cesar salad that was good but should have been a larger portion for the $14 price tag. Cocktails were delicious and their wine list is extensive. We had the dirty Belvedere martini with blue cheese olives and chocolate martini for dessert. I had the Montepulciano red wine and it was wonderful. We sat inside which has a cool vibrant vibe but it’s VERY loud inside. I recommend sitting on the outside patio if it’s not too cold

We continue to return to Ciao Pasta for the overall experience. My favorite servers are George & Daniela. Both are very attentive and professional. The food is spot on and be sure to not miss out on their specials. If we want a pizza. It is Ciao Pasta. If we want really good Italian Food in general? It is Ciao Pasta. They have a great wine list and Pasquale brings in superb wines in from the area where he was raised. He assures a great wine experience. Their dessert menu is reliable for a good way to complete your dinning experience. We go there for any excuse, birthday parties, wedding family gatherings or if we are in the neighborhood. Any excuse to have a Ciao Pasta experience.

This was our first time eating at Ciao Pasta. My husband and I are always looking for our “go to” place when we can’t decide where to go. I think Ciao may be our new “go to.” I cannot say anything bad about this place. The food, the service, the atmosphere was all excellent. Good wine selection, too. We were seated immediately, and doted over the entire time by all of the staff. Great location for a nice walk around town, before or after your meal. I highly recommend. Brenda/Duncan 3-16-2024

Great restaurant. Lovely patio location. Food is excellent with a menu full of interesting entrees. The waiter is amazing - so attentive, so caring and so knowledgeable. A true superior dining experience.

My first time here and I don't like to leave negative reviews but, the service was so bad I had to speak up. Especially for what should have been an excellent experience for a highly-rated restaurant. I had reservations and it was a special occasion to celebrate my best friend's birthday over lunch. I drove an hour to meet halfway here. On my arrival, only two other tables were being served and the greeting station was empty. The cooks looked at me and I said hello but, they didn't reciprocate. Finally, got seated and ordered coffee which took 10 minutes to arrive. I only received one refill right before we left. I ordered the Paccheri and I like my pasta al dente but, it was very undercooked both hard and chewy and the shrimp was way overcooked also dry and chewy. I indicated on my reservation it was a birthday celebration and no acknowledgment or dessert offering for the birthday. The only saving grace and why the two stars is that my friend's pasta the Pappardelle was cooked properly and he enjoyed it.

We sat outside and were nervous because it was cold but those heaters are pretty amazing. I was turned off by a fishy smell. I like fish but I am not sure what fish was served around us that smelled that bad. The lemon pasta was good. Not great and the portion was very very small. Even for a small gal like me. I asked for protein and we decided on shrimp. It was $3.50 per shrimp. And they were normal size. Again not opposed to paying 3.50 per shrimp but I was expecting jumbo. My boyfriend enjoyed his pasta. Not his favorite but good. The chocolate lava was pretty good but again I’ve never seen such a small portion. Normally you can share a dessert. This was not meant to share.

The hostess was so rude that it set a bad tone for the experience. I’ve never witnessed anything like it. All I asked is, can we sit in a table inside and she barked at me that we didn’t pre-request it. On the reservation request to sit on the patio which I assume is a commodity was the only special request for seating. I did not request on the patio. It appeared she is the daughter of the owner or manager. Bread and the oil olive mix was Delicious. The ciao pasta had no taste. The ravioli and chicken Parmesan was very good. They were aware it was an anniversary and did nothing.

Very good food, spoiled by a very very loud group of 14 people. Most of the noise came from 2 women with extremely loud voices. Not the restaurants fault, bur still….
