Provenance is at the centre of the Chop House offer and we use only the finest beef sourced from artisan suppliers across Scotland.
The meat is dry aged for up to 90 days to add flavour and increase tenderness then the beef cooked on a charcoal grill, specially designed to give a subtle smoky flavour. Lovely atmosphere, great playlist (at a good volume) and most of all the food was fantastic, according to my young son, the muscles were "Amazing, the best I've had" (and he's had ALOT!) The steak was of course also outstanding. Would highly recommend.

Party of four, two had steak frites, one ribeye, sides and puddings. The server was excellent, the food fantastic. The steak frites is great value for money, so tasty. Will definitely be back.

Took a while to get served, wasn’t overly busy. Mac and cheese was so dry and just don’t feel the food was worth the prices given.

Another great meal at Chop House Bruntsfield. The care and attention put into the food and the service really shows, we felt well taken care of and the food was delicious. The complementary glass of wine for my birthday was the icing on the cake for a lovely meal.

Delicious well cooked steaks with very good range of sides. Being a small person with two replacement knees, clambering up onto the too high bench seats was a challenge (my son helped me). Comfortable once perched. Staff were friendly and helpful but service was really quite slow and one member of staff forgetful. Atmosphere pleasantly quiet - no background music interfering with conversation. Would recommend to able bodied friends, though disabled toilets were available on entrance level.

Food was lovely only negative comment I can give on the food is our side came with very watery chilli instead of a sauce!! Our table was very small and didn’t like sitting on a tool Service was excellent! Our porterhouse steak was beautiful cooked to perfection. I would happily return but for a proper table and chair.

Food was inedible. Even staff tried the steak and agreed they couldn’t eat it. Took 1 hour and 40 minutes for any food to arrive. Will not be back.

Our waitress Rachel was kind and helpful. We had a great time with a bit of banter to make the experience as good as the food. Honestly our main reason for visiting Edinburgh. Probably the best meal we’ve had outside of London.

All three of us had the worst steaks. We believe the steaks were not fresh but frozen before hand. Really disappointed in the quality of food. Would not be going back again.

We keep going back. The overall care from staff and the thoughtfulness behind the owners make it such a special experience. I highly recommend this for any date night or family meal. The cocktails are beautiful and food just exceptional.

Food was great. However, the tables were far too small and closely packed together in the basement rather than the nicer street-level restaurant. Would have expected something much classier for the price.

Over priced for what it is. We got our steaks, then got our sides about 5-7mins later. Which meant ur steak was nearly gone before the rest of the food came. Asked for more sauce and waited about 5 mins. Which I didn’t end up using as my food was getting cold. The bartender was chucking glass bottles in the glass bin verrrrrrry loud. Other customers were turning their head too. It’s a shame as this was my favourite steak place and now I don’t know if I will return.

My wife’s steak was overcooked and the replacement took an age. There was zero atmosphere in the restaurant. Disappointing

Service was very slow by service staff Food and drinks are definitely far too over priced for the meal we received Especially Charging those prices and a restaurant of that standard to be running out of items is quite unprofessional Restaurant’s atmosphere was very bland and dull Don’t think we will be visiting the restaurant again sorry Just wasn’t upto standard and we were having to look for a member of staff to order drinks etc.

We have regularly dine at chop house. There was a group of so called women sat at the side of us who were loud rude and were using foul language in front of our children. The staff did nothing to ask them to tone their behaviour down.

Main courses were perfectly cooked and prepared. The atmosphere and environment were beautiful. Portion sizes were very large and we over ordered an extra 2 sides dishes. Small critiques, understandably everyone has the own preferences. Caesar salad had too much white sauce, steak burger bun wasn’t to my liking. Otherwise all was wonderful. I would recommend Chop House as a quality restaurant and I myself would return again.

Ordered our food and waited almost an hour to be served anything at all. To be fair, the staff did apologise - apparently our server should have told us that the chicken would take 40 mins + to be cooked, but she had not. Therefore we were sitting wondering why things were taking so long. The steak was reasonably good but not exceptional. The mash with gravy was really poor - unappetising and flavourless. Cocktails and wine were nicely served. I probably wouldn’t return as the service (and communication) was objectively poor. Food was ok, but there are definitely far better steakhouses in the city. Finally, when I booked the table I made a note that we were celebrating a special birthday but there was no reference to this at all (no candle in a dessert, or even a ‘happy birthday’ from staff). What actually happened is that we were given a pretty bad table in the very corner of the downstairs basement.

Absolutely amazing experience here! The steak sourdough with sides of onion rings and mac n cheese were extraordinary. The staff members really made our visit special too. This is a must visit for outstanding cocktails, exceptional environment and an incredible service. I would recommend this as a must visit and somewhere we try to visit at least once a month.

Food was very good apart from the fries which had obviously been sitting out for a while before being served and were cold and greasy. Our bottle of white wine was warm. We were brought some ice to chill it down, but really? At £36 a bottle, hardly to much to expect that it will be served chilled.

Food very greasy, so greasy couldn’t use knife & fork, service poor, took ages to get order yet place wasn’t busy, cocktails rubbish not served in correct glasses, definitely won’t rushing back 👎🏼

No where near as good as it has been. Meat was fatty and chewy. Asked for thin chips and recieved things that resembled crispy rice noodles. That could have been explained better. Will not be back

The food was absolutely outstanding; service was superb. We were sat downstairs, which was quite empty, but my companions cannot manage the banquette style seating upstairs (this had been requested on the reservation). A touch lacking in atmosphere, if one is being fussy, but that was self inflicted.

My boyfriend and I came for Valentine’s Day, we shared a côte de bœuf which was very tender and tasty, I didn’t even need to add any sauce, we asked for blue and it was perfectly cooked, starters were oysters and mussels which was also great, sides were good, staff was nice, very good dinner.

Had really good expectations heading into for the meal, however was really disappointed by the whole experience. The steak was bland, not cooked to liking and accompanying sauce was very watery and didn't provide anything in terms of flavour or texture. Sides came 15 minutes after the steak, and I had already finished the steak by this time. Service seemed all over the place, took 5/10 minutes to get a menu. Final bill came to £98, for 1 starter, 2 small steaks, 2 sides and a bottle of water. In my opinion extremely bad value for money. Overall, it is overpriced, average food and strange service. Won't be back and would urge any one unsure to not waste your time.

We booked a table for 630, when we arrived it was quiet. We were asked to stand at the bar to be seated. We waited about 10 mins, for what I’m not sure as it was quiet. We were sat down and given menus and to be told about 5/6 things were sold out. I then asked about the Sunday roast menu, and then was told this was sold out! Shame when one of us wanted that! About 25 mins later, our drink order was taken. They arrived fairly quickly. Another ten mins or so, our food order taken. A side of mac n cheese was ordered with this. Our food arrived, and then we were told there was no Mac and cheese, disappointing when we sat for best part of an hour and nobody said this. We asked for a free drink or another side and they said they would see what they could do and asked what we wanted. I asked for ketchup and mayo this took another 5 mins to come. There were three burgers on our order and all the brioche buns were dry and hard. When we got the bill the mac n cheese was still on the bill. Took a while to pay the bill Too. We had a voucher towards the bill and we were glad as we felt for the service and food and overall experience this was a very overpriced place. Disappointed as have heard so many good things but we will not be back. There was another table that were not happy with their food at the same time we were in.

Food was superb, really good service. Prices were very reasonable. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Chop House Restaurants are very good choice. Been to two in Edinburgh, next visit to third one in a fortnight.
