Chifley’s Bar & Grill pays homage to the region’s wineries and boutique food producers with a seasonal, modern menu. Chef Saju Rajappan and his team cater to discerning travellers, diplomats, and businesspeople with classic but inventive dishes that are as delicious as they are gorgeous to look at.

Steaks, seafood, chicken, and other dishes cooked on the grill are a speciality. The menu also features pasta, risotto, a wide range of vegetarian options, dishes designed for sharing, and tempting desserts. A wide range of local and international wines, cocktails, craft beers and ciders are available for your drinking pleasure.

Chifley’s Bar & Grill is named after the 16th Prime Minister of Australia, Ben Chifley, who loved dining here and frequently enjoyed a tipple in the bar. In honour of his favourite drink, the whisky bar has a specially curated menu taking guests on a sensory journey of whiskies around the world.

Change of chef in last 1-2 years? Wife’s starter was enormous (too big), her main was tasteless (pasta dish). My main was indicated to be protein only so sides were ordered. Main arrived with veg making sides almost redundant. Wait staff grasp of spoken English can be better. Complimentary sparkling wine was very nice thank you.

We ordered the share seafood platter and it was delicious. It came with kipfler potatoes and a salad. We were unable to finish it, which was disappointing. We had also ordered the focaccia which was also very good. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Service from all the Staff at bother Dinner & Breakfast was excellent. Food was also excellent and very good value for money.

Although the staff were very nice, they didn't engage at all, the steak sauces were sent out with the pricey seafood platter (with a strange mix of roast veges) and weren't corrected. Some of the salad leaves were yellow and clearly past their prime - wet and sloppy. There were plenty of apologies and photos taken for chef but ultimately we were just offered a glass of wine each as compensation.

Seafood to share was great value, as well as seafood platter, potato’s salad and three sauces, ample for two people, absolutely delicious.

Not great, not terrible. We booked in as it's a busy restaurant. We were sat in a far corner, and promptly had another couple seated directly behind us. How to feel cramped... we thought the restaurant must be fully booked but no... we were just boxed in. The young lady took our order.... written on the back of her hand as she forgot to grab the tablet - probably best to either go back and get it, or, practice memorising orders as finer restaurant waitstaff do.... The artisan bread was nice... $12 worth? No. One piece each. We shared the meat platter which WAS excellent value, and more than enough for two. Probably didn't need the side salad as the vegetables and potatoes more than covered the sides... We ordered a bottle of wine, and sparkling water. U less is a brand/label water, don't go charging patrons $10 for it... especially when your staff don't come back to check if you need more, which we did by mains time. Overall, it looks good, and the staff were trying, but as I noted on the docket when we paid, I wish you had of checked on us - we probably would have gone another bottle of wine, even dessert, and we definitely could have used some more water. Will we come back again? Probs not.

My sons reported their steaks were dry and not seasoned well. You also cannot do take away. Will not return. Just was convenient for family staying at the hotel.

Fantastic meal in such a beautiful setting at the Chifley Bar and Grill at the Kurrajong Hotel in Canberra. The tables were perfectly spaced, the service was very attentive and choices and presentation of meals great. Thank you for a great evening.

The food was not up to the standard it was in October. The tuna in the fish share was inedible and we paid alot of money so disappointed. There doesn't seem to be the quality of food as when we visited in October. The presentation of the food was not as good as last time.

Incredible food, lovely service & beautiful atmosphere. The grill section was amazing. Our large table of guests ordered everything from the duck, the lamb shoulder, salads, various entrees and the seafood and the meat platter. It was outstanding - every dish was flavoursome and brilliant quality. We have several dietary requirements that we’re all catered too also. Thank you for a delicious meal and lovely service.

Food was well above average...bean soup, barramundi and yes I would go back asap for the chefs skill BUT having made a reservation for 1 at 7.30 weeks before i felt like i was entering a self serve canteen. Desk unattended, bar staff distracted and there weremaybe 20 dinners only all well into their meals. This was not a late time slot. Finally got attention, not interested in ,y booking though I got sms 10min later to ask if I was still coming! Placed on nearest seat to kitchen, asked for tap water & wine glass wiped off table, I had intended to have some wine but felt stunned by treatment. Service fr kitchen almost indecently fast & within 2 mouthfuls a different face intruded to ask if I was happy with meal. Within ? 2minutes of finishing soup asked if I was happy to have my main. AND did i want mushroom or peppercorn sauce....the steak sauces. Waiter had no knowledge of menu. Then within ?5min or less fish was on the table ( huge steak knife on side). Had to have already been cooking....if this had been at end of service window maybe but new guests were being seated, given water & asked for their drink order. Saving grace was the food was well worth the pain, subtle perfectly cooked so value was appropriate. BUT I couldn't wait to get away and was out the door in 35 minutes so glad in dressing up i hadn't bothered w full makeup. In hindsight it felt like I'd been in a foreign country and just another white tourist, as opposed to a regular diner. I don't think I've ever had such horrible treatment and in complete honesty I had barely opened my mouth but it may have dropped open a few times. This was my one committed booking in a 10 day Canberra stay, and other wonderful eateries had squeezed my in during prexmas heavy bookings as I put my nose in the door. And gave me great meals & fantastic cheerful service. I really feel sorry for this hotel if they are so confident at demand to drop service. Glad I didn't stay there.

We went here for a special occasion and were both very disappointed. Ordered two medium stakes and got two very well done ones. Salad was very simple and we both recognised the brand of dressing. We both thought the seaford was frozen. We were left without plates and cutlery for a while until we could get the attention of a waitress. For the price we were also surprised to see packets of salt and pepper instead of proper grinders on our table.

Family gathering for lunch at Chifleys was everything we had wanted. The service was extremely good from the main waiter and other staff very helpful and courteous. Delicious meals, everyone happy :) The dining area is spacious and opens onto the beautiful garden area. The high tea looked amazing- have to come back!

We entertained our granddaughter there. The whole experience was, in my opinion, very good. Good menu options and food presentation. Service could not be faulted.

The food was OK, scallops were nice. I had a 350gram rib eye steak for $66. It was on the bone, to make up a l;ot of the 350 grams. It was not what I call a rib eye, more like a Scotch fillet, full of fat. The service was hopeless and inattentive. We asked for a break between entrée and main but I think our main had already been cooked. My steak was luke-warm and the sauce was cold. The dress code is 'business casual' but a guy turned up at the maitre'd station in a hoodie and shorts. Overall, it was disappointing, I won't be rushing back.
