Chifley’s Bar & Grill is named after the 16th Prime Minister of Australia, Ben Chifley, who loved dining here and frequently enjoyed a tipple in the bar. In honour of his favourite drink, the whisky bar has a specially curated menu taking guests on a sensory journey of whiskies around the world.

We decided to have our 30th anniversary dinner at Chifley's. The food and service were terrific. We'll definitely dine there again when next visiting Canberra.

We love the ambience of this restaurant and the food is great, but the service needs some attention. The first waiter wanted to take our order before the rest of our party had even arrived. Once we had ordered, our main meals came out quite quickly. Unfortunately, our entrees hadn't come out yet. We were advised to order sides as our meals only came with a garnish. Turns out our meals all came with vegetables anyway. But the food was lovely - couldn't fault it.

Absolutely enjoyed our lunch, everything was superb compliments to the chef, and our waitress was wonderful, charming and so helpful! We shall be back!

The only thing I was disappointed with was that I requested to have a table in a quiet place out of the way due to my husband having dementia and we were seated right in the middle of the restaurant.

Checked the hotel website to see menu only to find a more limited ‘holiday’ menu on a Sunday with a 20% surcharge

Change of chef in last 1-2 years? Wife’s starter was enormous (too big), her main was tasteless (pasta dish). My main was indicated to be protein only so sides were ordered. Main arrived with veg making sides almost redundant. Wait staff grasp of spoken English can be better. Complimentary sparkling wine was very nice thank you.

We ordered the share seafood platter and it was delicious. It came with kipfler potatoes and a salad. We were unable to finish it, which was disappointing. We had also ordered the focaccia which was also very good. We would highly recommend this restaurant.
