Seasonal and local food are using as much as possible, no cooking artifacts or artificials food, only natural food, scratch cooking is our priority, even if it take more time to serve our customers.

We have been here once before and enjoyed it. This time we went and tried some new things. Started off with a wine flight and escargot. Wine flight was great as I was able to get 3 different wines with generous pours. Escargot was great!! It was garlicky and buttery. My significant other got the French onion soup that was a puree form it wasn’t bad. Both of us got the duck, orange duck and the duck leg special. The duck leg special was okay, the sauce was not my favorite. The orange duck on the other hand was so flavorful I dipped my duck in the sauce. The wines were good with the duck. I was disappointed the patio wasn’t open but it should be soon. Can’t wait to come back

This was the BEST meal my husband and I have had in a LONG time!! The Onion soup and mushroom soup were to die for. My husband’s steak was cooked to perfection. My Beef Bourguignon was tender and flavorful. Everything was seasoned to perfection with fresh herbs. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent french food! Soup of the day never disappoints, duck, escargot, boeuf Bourguignon, ratatouille (!!!), crepes, mousse au chocolat - third visit, and will return!

I have worked and vacationed in France many times and beginning at Chez Renee brings back wonderful memories. The owners are gracious, the food is excellent and the decor recreates a bistro in France. My grandchildren who are 13 and 15 always enjoy it

My family’s go to spot. Some of my favorites are salmon toast, Cassoulet, beet and goat cheese salad and the burgers are fantastic!The chocolate mousse for dessert is a must, and the lemon drop martini. Great menu and wonderful staff!!

When you first walk in, you just stand in the middle of diners, hoping to catch the eye of the server. My husband and I couldn’t hear each other talking the table behind us had a loud obnoxious woman and she talked LOUD the entire evening. Do not come here if you want an intimate, romantic dinner. The melted Brie appetizer was good and the Beef Bourgogne was flat, not enough depth and needed salt.

It was extremely busy when we arrived and the restaurant appeared to be short of personnel to adequately handle the crowd. We were asked to wait in their bar annex which had no service. Our party was sat in a relatively reasonable time approximate to our reservation. Our individual server looked to be extremely disinterested in waiting on our table. She was dressed in a t-shirt and sweatpants. The smoke salmon appetizer was our favorite item. We were never over a second glass of wine.

Reservation made for our first visit for a late valentine dinner with the family. Not sure where to check in and had to wait in the middle of the dining room. Quaint little place with a bar next door. The water and menus arrived after about 10 minutes. After about 20 minutes the person waiting on us came back to tell my husband the beer he asked for wasn't available. No menu or recommendation. He passed and just stayed with the water. The appetizer of salmon toast arrived at around 30 minutes and was good. Husband ended up getting drink napkins over in the bar since he couldn't find our waiter. When he did come back we asked for the napkins and silverware. A few minutes after the appetizers arrived, before we were even done with the toasts, our dinners started arriving. The first two dinners arrived, 5 minutes later two more arrived, and a few minutes later the plate to split (after we had ordered it to split). The mussels were okay but several empty. The frites were from the freezer and our college daughter commented that they were just like the ones in the dining hall. The cordon bleu did not appear to be a freshly made item either. The medium rare burger was rare, but the goat cheese was tasty. The cassoulet was the hit of the night. Brought home left over cassoulet and the burger to cook a bit more. One hour transaction that I won't get back. Understaffed and unimpressed. -Thanks for your response. I would much have rather waited to dine on a night that was well staffed. Not only did you allow your reservations but also more diners to come in as well. That explains service, but freshly prepared food is also part of the equation.

Quintessential county French cuisine. As if you visited your French neighbor’s grandma in the south of France and she made you a home-cooked meal. Best Cordon Bleu I’ve ever had bar none, and the Boeuf Bourguignon was very tender with a beautiful sauce. Cozy but not necessarily elegant atmosphere appropriate for the mood of the fare. Service was extremely casual but very friendly and attentive and engaging. Will be back without hesitation. Enjoyed a great 2017 Burgundy red by Marsannay that paired perfectly with our meals. If there is one constructive criticism it would be that our soups were marginally warm… but a minor flaw in an otherwise fabulous meal. Well done.

Had Valentines dinner there. Complete waste of money; the food was bland, overcooked and poorly prepared. The service was terrible, the server literally brought soup / salad while we were eating appetizers and then brought dinner while we were still trying to eat the soup and salad. About the only good part of the meal was the desert. Don’t go here unless you want bad food and terrible service. Definitely will never return.

First time dining experience for us. We found this French themed resturant to be quirky nice, not refined but very comfortable. Background music was excellent and played at just the right volume. We were there for the Valentine's Day special menu; appetizer, soup, choice of two entrees, and desert were all included. The food was excellent, portions were just right. Two sub prime experiences. One, the bar was not open that night. Two, the server was not familiar with the special and was leaving our table with every question we had to find the answers. We enjoyed the evening but $200 out the door had us questioning the value

Delicious food at a reasonable price. We had bœuf bourguignon and baked seafood au Gratin with sides of tomato Provençal and ‘smashed’ potatoes. Cocktails were on point as was the service. Dessert was chocolate mousse and crepes with strawberry jam and Nutella- yummy splurge! Lilly was a delight and we will definitely return!

This was our 3rd time at Chez Renee. Came before for burger night and they were always amazing. Great food this time too; had to wait a little too long for our drinks, but didn't mind. The problem is the stuffy smell in the place. Wish they could fix that

I’ve been to this French bistro on a number of occasions and the food is always fantastic. There’s lots of variety on the menu and a broad selection of French wines. I ordered the roasted duck which was cooked perfectly and super flavorful. Highly recommend this spot!

Let me start by saying the food was phenomenal. We started with the Beet and Goat Salad and a small charcuterie board, and at the same time put in our entree orders of Duck Breast and Scallops. It was all top notch. But the service was really what left something to be desired, especially given the price point (on par with a fine dining establishment). No host to greet (fine, can get past that), but also very casual waiter and other staff dressed in sweatshirts and casual pants - again, not a problem but definitely not what I expected. The biggest problem was that the entrees came out at the exact same time as the starters. My expectation would be that the kitchen and wait staff would pace the courses. In summary: food was excellent (as were the cocktails) but I wouldn’t bank on this as the romantic, “want to impress my partner” kind of place.

If you love traditional French dishes, look no further than Chez Renee. Unlike other French restaurants that are sometimes highly experimental, you can find all your labor-intensive favorites lovingly prepared here, such as Canard a l’orange (duck with orange sauce) and Cassoulet! The dessert crepe selection is very extensive too, although I would love to see more pastry-oriented desserts on the menu too with puff pastry, as well wishing for non-alcoholic drink options for anniversaries such as non-alcoholic champagnes or jus petillants (sparkling juices). The owners really exude hospitality and in combination with the food, Chez Renee has become our new favorite French restaurant!

One of my favorite restaurants. The food is excellent, the service top notch and I feel like I've escaped to a bistro in France. I always go in the fall for cassoulet.

We had reservations at 5:00 pm. We went to the door at 4:58 and the door was locked. Three other couples also tried going in but found it was locked and left. We waited until 5:10 we’re getting ready to leave when someone (employee) stepped out a side door. I asked if they were open, she said yes and I told her the door was locked. She said she had just unlocked it. It all seemed rather weird… we were standing right outside the door. Why wouldn’t she have opened the door (physically opened it) and asked if we were coming in? My husband ordered an iced tea to drink. It was very weak. He mentioned this but no remedy was offered. He ended up ordering something else. I had a make-your-own salad which was pretty good but I think the chicken was just barely done. My husband had a build your own burger. The fries were good. His burger was kind of dry as was the bun. Not sure if we didn’t order the right things? We mentioned that it was our first time but the waitress didn’t offer any suggestions.

Cute bistro in the heart of downtown Milford. Food options were varied. I had soup and salad...the French onion soup is amazing and the chicken brie salad was fresh and flavorful. Save room for crepes! I've never seen so many options before.
